Why would we give that much for a guy who is basically equivalent to Carrier but a little more size. For me (and I might be alone on this), they are equivalent only in their being 3rd pair defensemen. Whitecloud is (IMO) is what we need on our 3rd pair. And Carrier, to me is just out of place. Not offensive enough to be a top 4, and lacks the makeup to be a bottom pair guy. So especially considering the makeup of our top 4, I'd prefer to see a third pair that includes Whitecloud over Carrier. And I've been off the Dach train for two years now. He's one of the many, many bottom six players that we just don't have room for. So for that reason, I don't really think it's that much of an overpayment. But just my 2 cents. Quote

Seeing what Dowd, McCarron, and Nic Roy were just traded for; i think you undervalue what a much younger, better offensive player with size in Dach would get you. 2 Quote

JoeLassister Posted March 27 Posted March 27 If we ever keep Demidov off Suzuki's line for futur seasons, I believe he's gonna end up the one who carries the puck and gets it into the zone by himself. That said, the goal would be to have him a C who's more of a shooter than a playmaker. Kapanen sees alright, but if we want to upgrade him somehow, who would fit this bill around the league ? Quote

Habs Fan in Edmonton Posted March 28 Posted March 28 6 hours ago, Commandant said: Convert Pickford to Centre 😛 I know you are joking a bit but I could see Pickford as a pretty good winger. He has a phenomenal shot, doesn't mind the rough stuff and is a pretty good skater. Arber on the left wing, Florian at centre, the makings of a great 4th line?? Quote
GHT120 Posted April 12 Posted April 12 WILD ... admittedly unrealistic, THOUGHT Obviously good buddies ... sign Ovie and Malkin, at last chance to play together in the NHL discounts, to one-year deals to play with Demidov Kapanen and Newhook core of the third line Juggle the bottom-six and 5-6-7 D as required Quote
GNick Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Thomas definitely guy we should target this off season. He solves the #2C issue, biggest hole in our team. Demidov would jump from 60-90 points. Thomas is a top 15 center in league. Gives Habs best second line center in NHL. 80 points. Good defensively, 53% on faceoffs. Only 27, locked up long term with reasonable caphit. There's no negative there. Only last five seasons he's averaged 80 points a season. Quote

MOST importantly in this sort of discussion, what do you think it would take to get him? But in an article in The Athletic yesterday, Jeremy Rutherford opines that Blues are not likely to trade their 1C Quote
skifaster Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Since the Cup window is starting to open I'm wondering if there is a way to get McDavid... Would you trade either Fowler or Dobes, Kapanen, Hage, or Zharovsky and possibly a left D not named Hutson for McDavid and possibly Jarry? Quote

Assuming McDavid would waive his NTC for Montreal (no guarantee), whether the Habs/Habfans would make that deal is irrelevant as Edmonton never would make that deal ... MAYBE if you make the offer Dobeš, Kapanen, Hage, Zharovsky, Guhle and Xhekaj (for the fans) the Oilers listen Quote
