That's how I feel, Myatovic has scored 17 goals in 147 AHL game, zero value there. I don't think team morale would improve if they traded him for a 2nd round pick. If they are going to trade him it needs to be for something (likely part of a bigger package) that can provide some immediate help.

Removing him from roster instantly improves team play 'on the ice', dont care so much about any locker room considerations.

Has there ever been a goon that wasnt seemingly a popular teammate and fan favourite?

As me and Brian remarked a few days ago, I don’t rule out AT ALL that the media and clickbait artists read this site, as well as other Habs-related sites, and pick up stuff. They are desperate for content, and your Granlund idea is a pretty good one IMHO. Take a bow.

Removing a player doesn’t improve the team unless their replacement is superior. MSL wouldn’t dress Arber if he felt he had a clear-cut superior option. He is more than a goon.

 

The issue is with DR and Engstrom banging on the door, whether Arber can hold on as our most-of-the-time #6 D-man. Personally, I would like to keep him for now, since those other gentlemen have proven exactly zero as yet. He is a top-5 NHL fighter, and when he’s on his game he can be a serviceable #6 physical D-man. (I wish he could get that cannon of a shot off more often, but no longer believe he will be able to make that adjustment). And he is definitely part of the magic chemistry set that HuGo have assembled.

 

I’m in no hurry to move him BUT you do have to doubt whether he has a future with us beyond this season.

I'd prefer to include Guhle in a package to get a bona fide top 6 forward. Love the player but we can't trade Hutson or Matheson on the left, and I think Arber has too many intangibles that we would sorely be lacking if he was moved. That helps to balance out the D, and leaves Struble and Engstrom as your 7th and 8th assuming Reinbacher makes it (he will).

I wouldn't trade for a right handed defenseman unless it is a too goid to pass up deal. You are trading a known quality defender and leaving a hole on the left side in doing so. There are players that "may" fill that spot, like Engstrom, but there is a player that "may" fill a right hander spot in the system now. Reinbacher.  I think he is going to get a lot of chances this early season, to see what we have in him. Hutson needs to go to his left side. I think it's time to put Hutson and Dobson together. That leaves Matheson Carrier on the 2nd pair and Ghule Reinbacher as the 3rd pair. How Reinbacher plays (or stats healthy) will be a key in later season decisions IMO.

The NTC may be an issue.  If I remember correctly from last year, he had made it clear that he wanted to stay out West.  Accordingly, I think a lot of East teams would be on his NTC.  I like the idea though.

Despite the "Price incident" I think Kreider would be a good addition ... still a Top 6 winger with size and physicality ... only one year on his deal to see how it works out ... Anaheim won't want much AAV in return (this is obviously Gauthier related), so picks and prospects ... but as with Granlund there is a NTC issue.

That is a good, rational assessment. But personally I would prefer that that piece of alpaca feces get run over by a bus.

I think Hughes cares about the locker room. I guess if you were the GM then you would just release him?

I agree with your assessment, Guhle is very marketable and our best chance to get a piece we need. Don't really want to give him up but he would help fill some holes. Of course as soon as you trade him one of Matheson/Hutson gets hurt.
