The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Dobson is a huge addition and Bolduc seems like he will be a valuable guy who can grow with the team. Exciting moves. That said, our bottom-end depth at FW seems worse overall given the loss of Heineman, who was excellent, as well as Armia and Dvorak, both of whom were important pieces last season. Our LW depth in particular seems downright terrible, even as our RW is bursting at the seams. Guys are either going to have to play out of position, or we’re gonna see at least one more significant move for a LW, I suspect.

Caufield is LW1 Bolduc is a LW, Laine is a LW.... they are 2/3 Anderson played LW all last year on the line with Dvorak and Gallagher. Right now.... if we had to line it up, it'd be something like this. Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky Laine/Bolduc - Dach - Demidov Bolduc/Laine - Newhook - ????? Anderson - Evans - Gallagher. Competing for spot ?????? are Blais, Beck, Kapanen. So we could add a forward for sure, but it would be RW or C IMO. I'm still concerned our only LH C is newhook and he's a bad faceoff guy. However, strong defensive results at 5v5 suggest he can be taught to do it. Blais hasn't been used much as a PKer at any point in his career. I often rely on Habs EOTP’s depth chart for memory jogs about who slots where…looks like it steered me wrong this time. The lines you sketch look better than I thought, but Armia/Dvorak still seem like significant losses especially on the PK.

Yes ... at this point our primary forward PK options from last season are Suzuki (!) and Anderson. Maybe Bolduc can play a role--or Kapanen/Beck. We'll surely start with a weaker PK than last season, but let's see whether St-Louis can rebuild it through the season.

Jake Evans was the most used forward on the PK last year. Anderson was fourth with 141 minutes Suzuki 5th with 51 minutes and then 6th is virtually nothing.... Kapanen with 4:35. So really we need two PKers. As it stands probably Bolduc and one of Kapanen/Beck. But don't think we are done.

I would be SHOCKED if Hughes or Gorton actually said that ... I expect it was the reporter's interpretation of what HuhGort said and/or the moves they've made. Commandant
Hughes and Gorton didn't say that. They said they want a Centre but haven't found one available. They seemed to rule out the Free Agents as they said they would continue to explore trades. They also said they are prepared to open up the season with their current Cs if they don't find the right deal and wont overpay. So they basically said the opposite of that, saying they may use Newhook and Dach at C to start the season if they can't get a deal.

DON
Was pulling for Habs to grab Thorpe's teammate at 81 or 82, who fell to end of 3rd round, is similar (higher rated he was) to Mooney they say. Following in Gallagher's footsteps with nice 40g draft year.
dlbalr
Today is the deadline to file for salary arbitration and the Habs have two players eligible - Struble and Dobes. The full list hasn't been announced yet (the deadline is at the top of the hour) but it sounds like Struble on the list of those who have filed.
