brindavis Posted June 30 Posted June 30 As the qualifying offer is for one year and Dach will want longer, you have to believe there is a chance to get a lower and longer deal sorted. It becomes more tradeable and gives Dach a chance to play for a bigger contract going forwards. Whilst I am not sure Dach will ever be worth what we traded him for, he could be a serviceable winger who could put up at least 40 points if he played 82 games. But I am not sure that will happen in Montreal. So time to My guess will be 2 x $3 million and he gets traded to a rebuilder (Ottawa?) mid-season or ends up back on the ward. Quote

And I question his value, in general, considering his lack of inclusion in any trade talk rumors (that I'm aware of). But this could also simply be chalked up to a difference in opinion between myself and the team management. Maybe they just have never considered trading him. Maybe they just like him. But for me, I was done with Dach at this time last year. I don't like him at Center, I don't like him at Wing. I don't like him in the top 6, I don't like him in the bottom 6. I honestly think I prefer our lineup when he's on IR. (Not saying I wish injury on the guy, just that I prefer the lineup without him in it) That said, it's not like we need the cap space. I think Dach would get a longer term deal for more total money (but maybe less AAV) than Jenner if he was a completely Unrestricted Free Agent open to all 32 teams.
