Now THAT is a skilled deflection

 😆 😉 🤪

Struble's first penalty is just one that is always called when the stick is horizontal and touches the opponent (Habs got one in their favour earlier), regardless of how minor the actual "hook" might have been ... but the second was not impressive ... almost Xhekaj-ish

Matheson incapable of moving after blocking the shot couldn't move Meir off the corner of the crease

I think that one hurt bad, he doesn't usually go down that heavily.

Boooooo Newhook gives the puck away and boom we lose.

Dobes looked really, really scary out there with being wildly out of position all night

Yeah, I respect that Dobes is one of those flailing battler types, but he did not afford reassurance and he was spitting out rebounds quite a bit. On the other hand, Markstrom was not exactly Bill Durnan either.

I feel like if MM wasn’t hobbled on that play, we might have held this particular lead.

All the same, a good road game, I thought. Could have gone either way. Dobson was doing his best Markov impression. CC had some chances and, unusually, didn’t capitalize.

Ya, Dobes makes me nervous, but overall, the dude can stop the puck. He reminds me of first year halak and tim thomas combined. Spitting out rebounds like crazy, out of position, but battling like crazy to get the save.

Dobes is putting a lot of blame on himself here. He wasn’t great but this loss is an unfortunate team loss.

If Matheson wasn’t flopping on the ice, in pain, the tying goal wouldn’t have happened.

If Newhook hadn’t of gift wrapped an OT breakaway then Jersey wouldn’t have scored to win.

I was at the game last night.

Couple of observatons:

- Team was unable to sustain any consistent pressure in the O-zone.

- Slaf has no business handling the puck above the hashmarks on the powerplay.

- Team had a hard time clearing their end all night

- Matheson was def compromised on that last play in the 3rd

- Veleno is hot garbage and Marty's insistence on having his take the faceoff on the left side was costly.

- As much as I love Dobes he was fighting the puck all night.  Very reactive vs bein positionally sound.

- Demidov was non-existant

- If anyone says that Hutson is a liability defensively please send them for a thorough psychiatric evaluation.

We had no business winning that game.  That being said, we gave the 2 points away.

I’m a bit worried about Dobes’s resilience. He’s going to have to get past much worse situations than this if he wants to thrive in the NHL.

We need an upgrade on Veleno. If you’re only as strong as your weakest link, well, we’re not strong enough because he ain’t it.

I thought the game was more even than the shot totals or this summary would suggest, but perhaps that’s wishful thinking on my part

We absolutely need an upgrade on Veleno.  He doesn't bring much to the table.

My eye test don’t lie my friend.

They were by far the lesser team yesterday.

I really wish it wasn’t the case.

However the loser point makes me feel like we got something out of a lackluster performance.
