Dobes needs the rest. He made some good saves but he wasn’t as sharp as the previous two games

Four games in seven nights is a lot. Even the top goalies will only play three games out of four--and that's without the compressed schedule.

Canadiens @ Jets: Game preview and how to watch

Whatever happened to the goalies who made last season’s rosters for the 4 Nations Face-Off has stricken Connor Hellebuyck as well. His .901 save percentage has him well off his usual level, no lower than a .920 mark in the past three seasons. That means five goals against every 50 shots this season instead of his typical four, so about one extra goal every two games. The reigning Hart Trophy-winner and back-to-back recipient of the Vezina Trophy won’t be in the running for any individual awards this season.

Winnipeg is currently the only team with an average age over 30, and maybe that’s starting to catch up with them.

The youngest team in the league vs the oldest team!

Monty and Struble...lovely.  Lowering my expectations.  Hopefully we score a lot of goals tonight.

Don't think Struble can contribute less than Xhekaj ... fingers crossed on Monty

For some perspective, each goalie’s last game:

Dobes (vs Minnesota): GSAx -1.62

Montembeault (vs Boston): GSAx -0.62

Neither one is a Carey Price or a Ken Dryden.

Montembault made some big saves. We are fortunate to be tied.

He was really sharp early on when the Habs were in vacation mode for a good chunk of the opening 10 minutes.

It really seemed like they had misread the start date of the Olympic break ...

Monty is playing well so far.  Let's hope he keeps it up and doesn't let in the softy that deflates the team.  I'd feel better with one more goal on the board.

Its so wonderful when the team you are rooting for has real talent.

Yes, more scoring is nice.

Supposedly Jets are a 1 line team, focus on shutting that line down and dont take dumb penalties should be priority now with 2 goal lead.

Well, their top three forwards have more goals than every other forward on their team combined.  That's definitely a one-line team.

Veleno 4/5 on faceoffs

Struble 8:24 so far, getting a few shifts.

Slafkovski 2 blocks, he must lead the forwards in blocks?
