Joe Veleno is listed as RFA at end of season - If you were Hughes would you re-sign him?

  1. 1. Consider the current tight roster and the guys pushing from Laval such as Beck

    • Yes re-sign Veleno (reasonable contract of course)
      5
    • No - make room for others

Montreal Canadiens will play game 80 while pushing for first place and a push for personal milestones

INCREDIBLE

I think Dobes likely starts with Fowler getting Sunday but who Knows

Marty messed around with the lines again against Tampa so we will see what he tries against Columbus.

No matter what St. Louis does with the lines you can bet that these guys will lead the team

On a deal below 1.15 million, I don't mind having him back.

If Beck beats out Veleno, great, and Veleno's deal can be buried in the AHL with no cap hit

If Beck can't claim a top 12 spot, then back to the minors for one more and Veleno can be the 13th forward.

It likely depends on what roster moves are made first. Laine is the only UFA so if we hit next season with the same roster then Bolduc, Gallagher, Veleno would sit a great deal.

Injuries are coming but I wonder if Montreal would be better off with Gallagher as #13 and let Veleno go. Lots of capable bodies in Laval to cover injuries

Guhle is taking part in the morning skate today so he might be an option for tonight.  That said, with a back-to-back, I'd probably only play him in one of the two games if possible; no point pushing it.

Dobes’ Achilles heel - bad rebound leads to a goal

I would suggest that leaving the player totally uncovered played as much or more of a role.

At least Coyle had a couple of Habs close enough to touch him, although they didn't

Defensive coverage a big issue on both goals, although Dobes wasn't blameless either.

Guess Josh can hit the broadside of a barn

Habs were spastic in their zone with terrible coverage

Good news is that Columbus is giving up their blue line and Montreal is going to generate lots of opportunities

Might be an old school 6-5 game

That was a letdown of a period after playing well against Tampa Bay but they got better in the second half, at least.

At least had some signs of life late in period.

Hutson 10:10 in the 1st.

It sure looked like Slafkovsky could have tried a bit harder on that play to take away that scoring chance.

But Dobes doesn't have his best stuff tonight, either.

This game is getting out of reach… letdown game after that huge lightning game.  This might cost them home ice…
