Prime Minister Koivu Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Get Josh Anderson more ice in game 2. The guy is a menace and very dangerous when he plays like this 1 Quote

The commentariat has been kind of sleeping on Slaf this season, with all the (rightful) hooplah around CC, Suzuki, and Hutson, but this playoff could be his coming out party as a bona fide elite NHLer. Commandant Posted April 20 Posted April 20 TOUR DE CHAPEAU HATTRICK JURAJ SLAFKOVSKY IN OVERTIME Quote
brobin Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Not sure I can handle Kevin bieksa for the rest of the games… Quote
dlbalr Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Watching live, I was pretty sure the zone entry was offside so I wasn't too excited when Slafkovsky scored thinking it was going to be called back. Glad to be wrong on that one. Big win when it wasn't their best effort. Quote
Commandant Posted April 20 Posted April 20 A reminder of the worst NHL Draft take of all time. Slaf is not bad for the 42nd best player of the 2022 Draft This is what happens when your model ignores about 20 games of hockey when Slaf was 17, playing against European pros at the Olympics amd Europeans and NHLers at the Worlds. Prime Minister Koivu Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Stat cards show a good game by Montreal and and excellent job of Suzuki line shutting down Kucherov - Matheson Carrier too Quote

HabsFan4eternity Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Slafzilla is THE MAN. Outside of him though 5v5 the first line looked kind of stale, they were catering to tb’s game too much. Hopefully that doesnt pose an issue later. I agree that the second line looked a little off, a stickhandle or two away from a couple goals. Texier I thought especially looked a little rattled, he was handling the puck when he should have shot, and vise versa. Although the rest of the lines looked decent, liked what I saw from the Bolduc, Kappy, Dach trio tonight, very strong forecheck, just what we need against Tampa. Therefore if I was MSL I would roll these lines again game two (at the very least) and hope the second line clicks. Though in the playoffs you dont often have a game or two to adjust your lines to playoff hockey. Quote

tomh009 Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Slafkovsky said last year that he wants be a Brady Tkachuk (or something to that effect). He's two years younger, but I think he's already surpassing Tkachuk. He will need some loftier targets. 1 Quote

I don't really mind Bieksa, but, like Ron MacLean in a different way, he can be much too 'clubby' for my liking (inside jokes, calling players by their first name, all that old boy shit I can't stand). It was ballsy in that he was clearly in the top 4 that should have been considered but not a clear #1. Just that Bacon guy having him 42nd is the worst draft list ever. Quote
