I don't consider Kostitsyn making the club a surprize.

Latendresse will most likely end up back in Junior - the free agency aspect of young rookies almost ensures that(I think it's seven years now?) Unless he's going to be a regular, then it isn't in the best interest of the Habs? Playing a regular shift in Junior and exposure to the World Jr's is a much better option than a good seat in the press box any day. With more options available they will more than likely opt for the most likely one - that is unless he just lights the place up?

Chipchura has less options available - Habs or the farm? He'll have to really be sensational to earn a role that warrants sticking with the Habs. Far more sense to have him spend a year in Hamilton where he'll play night in and night out.

If anyone will surprize us it will be Grabovsky - but given the organizations tendency for patience I don't see that happening either. He still has to learn the North American game......

However, with that said, I'd love a great big surprize any day of the season!

Personally I doubt our team has any rookies playing on it this season. Dan Jancevski will be our 7th d-man to start out the season and on the forward lines, we just don<t have room right now.

Are you sure? I thought his ancestry was Ukrainian? I could be wrong though.

What is not too well known is that the best player who ever played hockey has ties to Belarus. No, Wayne Gretzky is not Belarusian but his grandfather immigrated to Canada at the beginning of the 20th century from a town in Belarus called Mogilev, which soon became a part of the Soviet empire. With such a tradition, Belarus deserved to enjoy at least a degree of success in ice hockey.

It's possible his name actually has Ukrainian roots but still.

Belarusians ROCK!
