BTH
You have Begin making $646, 000. He was re-signed for 3 years at 1M per though.

Gman
I believe that a team's salary cap consists of 23 players pay for every two weeks of the season. So even though a team maybe be paying 27 players, some of those would be on the IR or on a two way contract in the minors, and their pay would not count against the cap. Thus, a total salary of $42.5 M (sans Ryder) is not an accurate reflection of their cap space, you have to consider which players will actually stick with the team. habs rule
I compared the 2 lists and ch_nl's list has some minor differences in dollar amounts like 3mill for huet , it's actually 2.875 per year but the real difference in the two lists is that cn_nl has ferland cote laooiere and kosty counting against the cap which I believe they have to make the team first. so our actual commitment at this point is closer to 39 or 40 million depending on signing ryder, and barring a trade to free cap room. The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Funny how these things go...Rivet, for instance, makes more than Souray or Markov, two much higher-profile defencemen. And Kovy turns out to be a steal at that rate given the current UFA market. Still, the basic structure makes sense: the captain makes the most, followed by the two semi-star forwards Samsonov and Kovy. Nice post. Fanpuck33
First of all, the Cap is 44 million: http://www.sportsline.com/nhl/story/9529390 Second, I'm ashamed of you people, hehe. ch_nl
I didn't even mention the word "cap" in my post. Just listed what what all the new signings means in cash and since more than 23 players will have a contract with the Habs I listed everyone. I may be wrong on Huet, but the article I read said 3. So that's why it became 3 in my post. There's some things that I find interesting. * No one makes less than Plekanec. And yet we count on him to be a regular this season. * There's only two player that's overpaid in my opinion. Bonk and Rivet, but Rivet has lifted himself and are getting closer and closer. * Boullion whom almost everybody counted as the 7th defenceman now is fourth among defencemen when it comes to salary. * Kostitsyn lifts more mone than Higgins. Kostitsyn will likley start the year in Hamilton and Higgins on the first line.
Mr. Nasty
This whole thread was already made in this same forum...accurately http://forums.habsworld.net/index.php?showtopic=7356 Huet makes 3 million this season but the cap room is based on the average salary of the contract. That is why it is less. Edited July 17, 2006 by Mr. Nasty
