Athlétique.Canadien
Hope is the last thing we can give up on... We really have no right to say Hopeless I hear you. But hope alone isn't good and if hope becomes a comfort (distraction) which allows us to ignore the problem, that is not good. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong
CoRvInA
Ok first off, how are CHina's gasses affecting me? I dont care if the ice melts somewhere cuz I live in montreal, a city way above sea level that cant be flooded. Also, oh no, greenhouse gases might make the world warmer, Im really gonna miss those -30 degree winter days. Second, theyre gonna kill themselves a china way before it affects me, I was reading the other day how Beijing relies on underground aquafiers as its supply, and theyre almost all used up/polluted, sounds like a problem haha. third, why should I constantly be harasses to recycle (which is a scam anyways and doesnt help the environment) and do stupid 1 tonne challenges when some chinese factory is making craploads of steel 10 times less efficiently than anyone in north america. Why arent our environmental do-gooders harassing chinese people with all this advertising and schemes, wouldnt that be more cost-effective?? Seems to me theyre more interested in acting like little fascists to me than getting 3rd world countries who are pollutting the most to stop (they dont even have to sign that idiotic kyoto treaty!!). Excellent Dirty Harry.. I will go by those three points with ya if you allow me to explain... I'll try to be as brief as possible and hopefully not too boring. First it might just be that Montreal (ah I miss Montreal) wont be affected with the rise in sea level... Lets assume that... also Montreal is a (Coastal city) and like Coastal cities they are attractive socially (economicaly etc etc) thats why 75% of the worlds population is concentrated in coastal areas. Imagine that cities like Halifax or whatever (now underwater city) gets flooded... WHERE do you think these people are going to migrate too? its not overnight thing you know its not like they will all die they will move before things get out of control... So if a Million more people move to Montreal Expect higher costs in everything.. Housing harder to get your kids in schools etc... I live in VAncouver and I invaded it... most earlier Vancouverites moved decades ago couldnt deal with the rise in prices They all cheer for the Oilers or the Flames nowadays... by the way this is one map suggested... check out where montreal is. http://resumbrae.com/archive/warming/EastCoast100-4800.jpg Ecomomist and other specialist all argue that China will become the next SuperPower in the near future ... they have been organized way before us European mixed "Rookies" started meddling with the world They might lose 25% of their population but that aint stopping them... they are growing stronger and stronger! I agree with the You Dirty Harry with the Recycling scheme it does nothing really... as long as we consume at the rates we do ...it doesnt mean a thing if we use both sides of a sheet of toilet paper. it will take way more sacrifices ... But more importantly we set examples and we create economic power! The Chinese and the rest of the developping world needs us to buy their stuff... we have it within us to set an example and not pay for dirty rotten cheap environmentally unfriendly goods! We (as North Americans and Europeans) consume more than the Chinese (over a Billion) and the Indians ( Billion) and the rest of Asia and Africa adn LatinAmerica combined! You know that the States alone produces enough food to feed the whole world? all of us together we could feed 2.5 Earths. we gotta start somewhere and the rest of the world follows us they wanna to be like us! to be continued.... They should be social democrats but they are not. FDR would have disowned this bunch of fools. Q:What do democrats stand for now? A: Anything the Republicans are against. lol thats not standing for anything. What in the world happened to the social democrats of this party? Where in the world did they go? 100 million without health insurance middle class disappearing have to take out a new mortgage on the house to pay for 1 kid in college health bills are insanely high 5% of this country keeps getting richer while everyone else is struggling. 13% of this country lives below the poverty line ugh

Pierre the Great
Nothing in law requires visible face, Elections Canada says Elections Canada says the parliamentary legislation governing how people can cast a vote does not require people to show their faces. Chief electoral officer Marc Mayrand said Monday that the law does allow for veiled voters to decide whether or not to reveal their face. Speaking at a press conference in Ottawa, he said that if people are not happy with that situation, “I invite parliament to re-examine the law, and [amend the law] if they feel it necessary.” The issue has been escalating over the last week, with the Prime Minister assailing the decision on Sunday, warning that the Elections Canada decision to allow Muslim women to vote, even if they refuse to show their faces, goes against the will of Parliament. Mr. Harper noted that all four parties in the House of Commons voted to bring in a new law requiring visual identification of voters, and he received support from Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion, who said people must be identifiable when they vote. Mr. Dion suggested that female staffers with Elections Canada could be on hand at polling centres to identify women behind their veils. Mr. Mayrand said Elections Canada has been reviewing the entire situation, and said it was not his job to amend the law: He was simply enforcing the legislation that exists now. That law passed last June, he said Monday, provides that voters must prove their identity and place of residence. That can be done by using government-issued identification. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...y/National/home The plot thickens And since Harpie is delaying parliament he can't get a law passed before the Ontario elections. lol funny. Actually I think Elections Canada found a loop hole here and by doing this, is exposing it to say "hey we've got a loop hole do something." Athlétique.Canadien
Nothing in law requires visible face, Elections Canada says I suggest an official ID voting card with a laminated fingerprint for these people and have the voter give a print before voting. A little annoying but it would make it work. Mind you, next we would hear about how it's discriminatory to do this instead. It's the least painful solution that still protects the persons religious right. Some may think that having only 50 people in Quebec who it involves makes it a non-voting problem issue. But, it doesn't. When is it enough? 50? 100? 1,000? 10,000? Will it go to the courts? Should section 1 override? Hmmm?
