Why not trade for Jagr

If Sather is going to unload all his players as expected, why not go for #68. We'd only be responsible for $6 million of his contract as Washington has committed to paying the remainder. He'd make a good fit with Koivu and Zednik, allowing Bulis to move down to the 3rd line in a more defensive role but with dynamic players like Begin and Ward. And at $6 million he would be paid no more than Theo our most expenisve player and would score more points than any of our other forwards next season and for the remainder of his 5 years left on his contract.

I also wouldnt mind seeing us trade a Perezhogin or a Hossa and a 2nd round pick for him, as these players at their best will never be able to bring his level of scoring to the team.

lol.....Jagr....no thanks! Maybe someone like Nedved, Mironov, or even kaspiritus or kovalev.....

Go there and you may see the payrolls...even though we will pay 6 million well that is only for the FIRST year...we cant just trade for him and dump him.

Anyone else want to add on to this?

You can't be serious about Jagr the loser. Yes he gets an average of 1 point a game over the course of the season but he's still such an underachiever.

Why? Simply because he's only interested to play when he gets the puck.

Jagr has represented a huge mistake for any team that acquired him in the past and present. By the way how many time players such as Forsberg or Naslund have been traded since they became stars?

Good Idea!!!

After Jagr gets with the team, maybe gainey will go after Sakic, Forsberg, Kovalchuk, St.Louis, Bertuzzi and Naslund..................... Then just before the trade deadline he also aquires Lidstrom, Pronger, Blake, and Foote.

What a team we're gonna have when March 10th rolls around!

Man, if you thought the french media was bad, wait 'till JJ's on your team.

Nothing ends a coach's career quite like a Jaromir Jagr.

He is a cancer to a team. Jagr's a great talent, but he's just not worth it anymore. His heart's not in the game.

Jaromir Jagr is a verry talanted player. But I don't think he could bring what this team needs.

First of all. His salary is almost as hefty as the whole Penguins team exept for Mario.

I think Jagrs agent has destroyed his career. All the teams that are contenders are that good cause they have a mix. And nobody wan't to add that much money for a point per game when you can get two players that produces a half point per game for the same price. Easily.

Jagr has three options. Stay in Washington and rebuild the team from scratch or he will have to accept less money. He is good but not 11 million good and he should know it.

The last option is something different. Why don't give Lemieux a call. Ask for a trade from Washington to Pittsburg, buy 50% of the team and buy himself out. And then re-sign him self for about 5.5 million, wich I think is his value?

umm..... Jagr plays for the Rangers....

I hate to put the current trade rumours in these terms but - are the Habs gonna win the cup this year? Is adding one or two players midseason going to turn them into class A cup contendors overnight. If not, whats the point? Gainey signed on for long term success, not mortgaging potential future stars for a quick payoff. Signing Jagr might help the team, it might hurt the team, who can say (although previous evidence points to the latter), but balej, perezhogin, plekanec, or Hossa might turn out to be as skilled and right now we dont know which one(s). Unless Gainey feels he can get significantly better long term value at the deadline rather than the offseason what is the point in trying to guess. We don't need rent-a-players and I doubt we need 6-10 million dollar players that get a point a game and complain about icetime, sulk on the bench, refuse to play defence, and have wet dreams about their old mullets.
