  1. Forget about it. We need Cammy in the lineup as much as a hole in the head.

Iginla and Jagr have been traded. Name me another suggestion. Talking about Cammalleri is the same as talking about acquiring Iginla or Jagr, that is of a prime sniper.

It's hard to forget what Cammy did for us in the playoffs of 2010 and 2011:

    2010: 13 goals in 19 games

    2011: 3 goals in 7 games

We have not made the playoffs since, so maybe you forget how playoffs hockey is totally different than season hockey. We don't know how will react our youngsters under that amount of pressure and intensity.

I doubt that he'll be traded but that's not a crazy discussion. Not crazier than to talk about acquiring Iggy or Jagr.

  2. One more year according to Capgeek.

yes, 1 year at 6M cap hit, compared to 4.25 for Kaberle. If they were to buy out Kaberle CGY could make a saving of 1.75 M$ (compared to buying out Cammy) while adding a 2nd rounder. Although Brian said CGY will be nearer the floor and might want to keep him. (esp with Bouwm out)

It's clear we intend to buyout Kaberle 4.25

It would cost "only" 1.75M more to buyout Cammy instead. But Cammy can help us win more rounds, not Kaberle. More rounds = more $$

  3. Colby is now on IR. Does it frees a roster spot for tomorrow? I understand there's no 23-players limit after the deadline and we have 47 contracts out of 50. If I understand this right, we could have room tmorrow to add 2 or 3 players. I'm sure Brian will correct me on this tomorrow.

  4. That's because he can't play centre it's about a hell of a lot more than face offs.

Are the flames playing him at centre?

It would explain their position in the standings.

    haha good point..

So that line doesn't make sense then. Is AG too young to have that duty?

  5. Was written in the sky. Just how he played last year without Markov indicated that he would grow into an ELITE dman in this league. With or without Therrien/Bergevin, with the Habs or elsewhere. We will definitely pay him more than we could/should have for the next 6 sesons following his bridge contract.

We will pay him more, but not as much as if he'd won the Norris this season.

  6. Nice tidbit from M-A Godin's interview with Beaulieu (translated with google):

Carried away by the NHL experience, Beaulieu said after the victory over the Carolina Hurricanes that the atmosphere in the Habs did not compared to what he had already experienced.

"I won the Memorial Cup, yet in terms of team, it does not compare to the camaraderie we find here is that all players are on the same page, he said. It's hard to describe, but there is a "buzz" around this locker room, and it feels even more after two big wins. '
This is just to live this "buzz" that Tinordi, Greg Pateryn and him tasted the NHL this season. An experience that certainly marked them.

  7. Drewiske (#44) became expandable last month after the Kings acquired B. Obama

More seriously, it seems he was the Kings 7th or 8th dman: http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/04/kings-get-martinez-back-after-eight-game-absence/

There's a good read on him on HF: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/davis_drewiske/

Drewiske is an intelligent two-way defenseman with very strong leadership skills. While he has good offensive ability, it is his outstanding defensive play that stands out more. He is very good in one-on-one situations and does a superb job of staying with his assignment. He has great on-ice vision, follows plays exceedingly well and is rarely caught out of position.

Another great attribute that Drewiske possesses is his puck skills. His patience with and distribution of the puck, as well as his smart decisions with it made him a regular on the power play for much of his collegiate career. He makes nice outlet and tape-to-tape passes. While Drewiske will get involved in the offensive side, it almost never comes at the expense of his defensive responsibilities. Drewiske possesses a good, hard shot and can get pucks to the net. He has decent foot speed and skates with powerful strides.
  8. Money. If Cole at $4.5 M was dealt in large part to free up salary for next year, adding Cammalleri at $6 M would reverse the financial benefits and then some. I think there's a chance he gets moved but I don't think the Habs are the destination.

I'd send Kaberle and Weber and give their 2nd rounder back. Kaberle will be cheaper for CGY to buy out.

Cammy would be a nice offensive weapon addition, and we all remember what he has done for us in the playoffs.

We'll buy out Cammy in the Summer. Of course it will cost more than Kaberle, but it's a good investment for Molson, especially if Cammalleri helps the Habs win a couple rounds or more.

  9. It looks like the deal for Jagr is him for Lane MacDermid (low end tough guy), Cody Payne (who looks to be a future low end tough guy), and a conditional 2nd rounder that could become a 1st. In doing so, that would probably preclude them from dealing their 1st in any potential Ryane Clowe deal.

That conditional 2nd rounder becoming 1st rounder is if the Bruins win 2 rounds of playoffs.

So will we cheer then for the Bruins against the Pens in the 2nd round ?

  10. Marc Bergevin won't travel to Philadelphia. He'll be working from Brossard with his group.#transactions2013

    https://twitter.com/RenLavoieRDS/status/319138849005654016

Nice Renaud, nice. Does Bergevin always/often/sometimes/rarely travel with the team? I think it's rarely. And it only makes sense to be near his computer/phone/papers/team for such a day. Not that they are going to be active, but they need to be ready if anything comes up.

  11. The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly interested in bringing back left winger Raffi Torres after he was made available by the Phoenix Coyotes, according to CBC’s Elliotte Friedman.

At least we know Torres is available. Now, what is the asking price? Vancouver apparently going after Clowe as well. So, is there a good possibility we could get Clowe or Torres, depending on what happen with Vancouver? Although VAN and MTL aren't the only 2 teams interested I'm sure
