  1. Hi all, long time Canadien fan who's finally decided to join your forum :) This team has impressed me more than any since '93. More than the 1st place Kovy team or the improbable Halak led playoff year. The character and discipline is incredible right now and Therrien deserves a lot of credit. And speaking of PK...wow. Love him. He's taken a huge step this year and just imagine how far he will go as he matures. A few tweaks and this team has a real shot. Here's hoping :)

    welcome to HW ! :gohabsgo:

  2. It was nice to see the Habs face a bit of adversity with the early goal. Nothing changed from the game plan and they earned the tying tally.

It's funny, in my article yesterday, I praised Therrien for getting Halpern out there in extra faceoff situations. So of course tonight, six different players have taken draws and he wasn't among them in the 1st.

Galchenyuk saw very little ice time that period, just 2:26. Based on TOI, that line may be the 4th line tonight.

That early goal forced the Habs to take the Canes seriously. They held the Canes to 5 shots in the 1st.

  3. One thing about the forwards in this draft, there are a lot who play the power forward game, driving the net, and working the corners.

Many more of this style than usual.

Not necessarily fighters.... but the Erik Cole style of game.

That's great, let's pile up of those.

  4. Chicago isn't very smart.

Handzus has been the bane of Sharks fans this season.

Handzus briefly played for the Hawks in 06-07 and was a pt per game.. alright only 8pts in 8 games but still..

You also have to consider the Czech Republic element.. he joins fellow countrymates Frolik, Hossa and Roszival.

His contract expires at the end of the season. Solid vet, size, good on faceoff, all in a solid deadline acquisition for the Hawks.

  5. So, should the Habs have traded something like 2 of Bournival/MacMillan/Holland/Avtsin and a 1st round pick to acquire Iginla??

That would effectively be the equivalent package to Pittsburgh.

Assuming of course that he would have accepted a trade to the Habs.

IF you feel this is a good year to be "buyers" (which I'm still not convinced of) this would have been a nice add and they kind they should have looked at IMHO. Not only solidfying your top 6 with a veteran power forward who is a good locker room type but keeping him from a competitor like Pittsburgh/Boston.

Iginla is a special player and I would have done it for him. Our 1st rounder will be very late in the 1st round, and we have high 2nd round picks. I'd have sent Avtsin and MacMillan no problem. It's easy to say now, and there aren't players comparable to Iggy available.

  6. I think at this point, a 2nd plus something else will be warranted. Come deadline day, the price may come down a tad but for now (with Dallas talking extension with him), they're going to want more than just a 2nd I would guess.

can't they take the 2nd round pick then sign him back in the Summer as a UFA ?
