  1. Looking forward to see Briere in the playoffs, in a Habs uniform. Should be a very entertaining playoffs. We are on a hot streak, have almost every key player healthy, good depth. Let's forget next season and where Vanek will play, he is with the Habs now and should play a key part in the Habs success.

A player on the Bolts side not to ignore is Ryan Callahan. He'll shake things up and score big goals. We should not take them lightly. They find a way to win.

  2. Just watched the Vanek interview in the dressing room, and of course, some reporter asked Vanek how he felt when the 21000+ fans started chanting his name.

Vanek was polite and said he had chills!

Then some idiot reporter asks him if this will make him stay in Montreal at the end of the season. I swear, sometimes reporters can be such idiots!

Unbelievable. Can't stand most of them.

  3. Like the decision or not, they had a game plan and they sticked to it. Talking about Hamhuis, he played only 1 minute today, but he was on the ice for the final shift of the game. Why? Why would they reward him ? Because he accepted his role and was part of the game plan. Judging by PK's reaction, he understood and accepted his role. He was the best insurance policy were Weber or Doughty going down. Vlasic, and the Blues dmen all had their role.

In my mind you can't bench the previous Norris winner and I still don't understand it, but I have to acknowledge they had a game plan and it worked to perfection.

Who knows what impact Subban would have had. One thing we know is that we got gold, and Bouwmeester setup the goal to get Canada to the Finals.

As Habs fan I'm extremely happy for Carey. This is another milestone in a wonderful career so far. He has won everywhere and will win the Stanley Cup one day. And as Habs fan, I'm hopeful that Bergevin re-sign PK ASAP. Just imagine if PK scored the golden goal.

  4. Can't help imagining what Syd could do with Taylor Hall over there instead of Kunitz. With the different systems, different ice, different teammates, etc. I find it hard to expect too much chemistry to carry over from the NHL.

indeed.. and with Jordan Eberle on the other side. We could have used his "clutchedness" today vs the Finns.

  5. Boy, just total domination by Canada. But the Finns are defending tenaciously.

Vlasic gets a tremendous chance with 30 seconds left. We wouldn't have wanted Subban taking that shot, Lord no.

It's a pleasure to get to watch Vlasic. He's looking pretty solid. Didn't think he was Olympics caliber. Almost had the GWG there

  6. SO which Habs will be the most successful? I hope it's Carey!!

Will be interesting to see Max on USA's 1st line.

Glad to see Plekanec captain the Czech. I don't think anyone expect them to eliminate the Russians though.

And I really hope Subban will be a regular. He's a great skater and the kind of player who enjoy the moment and isnt hindered by pressure. On the contrary, he tries to do too much and maybe that's what scares the coaching staff. Would be exciting to see him there. Seriously, who cares about Bouwmeester chemistry with Pietrangelo?

  7. thats crazy talk!! PK is one of the top 5 defensemen in the league. evander kane is not one of the top 5 wingers in the league. plex is better then evander kane all day long

i meant id go with patches as captain and if not him markov for the years he has left before retirement and by then PK would be the man with the C

    1st - E. Kane is 22 y.o.

2nd - last season: 200 shots on goals, 150 hits

Only one other player had comparable stats, Ovechkin 220 SOG 120 hits

3rd - last season 17 goals in 48 games -- equivalent to 30 goals in a regular season = Two X 30 goals season in 4 NHL seasons.

4th - he is on pace for a 3rd 30 goals season in 5 NHL seasons.

  8. I really don't think you can get a 22 y.o. Evander Kane for Plekanec. Plekanec is my favourite player but I really don't know how and why the Jets would trade Kane for him. He is about where Subban was 2 years ago. He already has a 30-goals campaign (something Plekanec hasn't accomplished thus far). Oh and did I say he is 22 ? If Bergevin can't sign PK long term, I'd trade PK straight up for Kane and try to sign Kane long term ASAP.

  9. Reway looked a lot better in this game than he did the prior one. He was at least semi-interested in back checking while his offensive zone prowess was top notch. Hudon was the quietest of his linemates but still played well. Fucale was okay but nothing more. It's hard to fault him on the goals but he looked shaky all game in terms of rebound control.

With that performance, Reway is tied for the scoring lead

  10. He doesn't look right out there, I'm thinking he's playing through some sort of injury.

A couple of thoughts from the Sweden game:

    - Collberg has an offensive zone mentality of 'see puck, shoot puck.' He passed off a few times but it's easy to tell he's a sniper. His line (with Wennberg and Johnson) was terrific, all three of them played quite well.

    - de la Rose was fairly quiet I thought. He was slower than I seemed to remember from the last WJC. His size and puck protection stood out to me in a good way though.

Collberg made an highlight reel goal vs the US. Will be great to see how he fares in this WJC.
