  1. The problem is that our window for a serious cup run is closing faster than we think...its now or wait another 10 years...the Laffs will be formidable in less than two years, Tampa is having an off season but will be back next year...Boston is always in the mix..heck even Buffalo will be a much better team in a year or two.  i don't think Chucky will be traded but something has to happen.  i have to believe MB thought that Weber was the answer, but the real issue is at center, it has been an issue for years, and for some reason MB can't get a deal done...

If Price isn't reliably excellent, this team is not even close to contending. That's not a criticism of anyone; it's a logical consequence of how this team has been built. And it holds true of any team with its franchise player. So until Price rights the ship, we will lose a lot of games.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned in this thread is the upcoming 'bye' week. The tired Habs may be guilty of looking ahead to their upcoming vacation. It happens...all of us have been there, our productivity dropping as time off looms. So that's another factor to consider.

tired? after the all-star break?  don't think so...giving up on their coach maybe?

  3. i think we habs fans have been conditioned to accept mediocrity, and not just from players, but management and coaching as well.  We make fun of the leafs and their ineptitude but the Leafs will be a powerhouse in two years once their young players mature..meanwhile we are happy with a GM that trades Diaz for Wiess and who is constantly in the IKEA Tel Quel section rummaging for cast offs..ya he picked up Radulov; a great find but a fluke nonetheless and a player no one wanted.  Looks like trading PK for Weber is what MB will ultimately be known for

This team looks as inspired as....the Boston Bruins.  Let's hope the management follows their lead today by firing their head coach.

If the Habs lose the next 4 games which would put them on a 7 game losing streak to start their bye week, that would be the ideal time to get rid of Therrien.

    make it so

Agree that Emelin is the wrong partner, but....

    1) He plays the same side as Petry and neither have played LD in their career

    2) Markov has lost a step over the years, I see a Weber/Markov pair being burned speed wise.

They need to get a fast LHD to play with Weber.

Truth is when MB traded PK for Weber, he essentially did a number on our defense...having said that, our beloved coach needs to step up and do some actually coaching.. I wonder what coach Muller's defense pairings would be ?

I believe that is what a lot of coaches do with a promising young d-man: pair him with a stud veteran who will paper over his mistakes and ease him into a major role on the team. Instead, for some reason, MT has chosen to artificially inflate Emelin's role, a strategy that has been a boon for #74 but has yielded diminishing returns since the end of November; meanwhile we are missing out on the chance either to put the wind in N8's sails, or, if we want to flip him for other assets, to boost his trade value.

MT is an idiot wrapped in an enigma; the king of Idioton ;a squid falling off a tree; ..this is a "coach" no single team in the NHL wanted after his stint in Pittsburgh...*sheesh i promised myself not to bash MT.... i promised myself not to bash MT...i promised myself not to bash MT

Sorry, I don't know why, the site won't let me post in this thread now without quoting Neech.

As far as Weber being a 'beast,' all I'm saying is he hasn't been putting beast-like numbers up for 30 games now. This isn't saying that he stinks, but the numbers confirmed the impression I've had over the last while, that he's been merely adequate offensively after his initial explosion. IF that keeps up, it will be cause for concern.

As for who he should play with, the answer is frigging obvious: Beaulieu. That would require, however, a willingness to ride out the risks of overplaying the kid, so it will never happen given our hyper risk-averse head coach.

A N8 - Weber pairing would be awesome...Weber could then focus on what he does best...and Beaulieu could do his thing without timidity...but that takes coaching "balls" ie. something Scotty Bowman would do

N8 would be a good pairing as well

  9. MB didn't bring Shaw here only because of his past playoff performances...he brought him here because he's (supposedly) a winner.  MB had the right idea but arguably the wrong player...He's stats are good. as they should be; he's getting ice time 5vs5 and PP duty.  But let's face it, overall Shaw has been a disappointment...i think it's killing Le Genius (i love that nickname, btw) to be forced to have Shaw in the line-up night after night.
