Solid game

I agree. But Laval is certainly still an option if they wanted to give him a breather of sorts.
Nice end to the period - Domi had been quiet offensively since his point streak ended but he's on his game tonight.
Could you see him in Laval?
Man, Danault's stick is where pucks go to die
-
Great goals. That chemistry is coming to light
Man, the past few games they've really had Kulak engaging. Pinches like crazy. Much rather see Reilly doing that

I think they should be considering it. It'd give him a chance to be a bit more dominant and play in a scoring role (and allow the Habs more time to see if they're going to burn a UFA year - the way he's been lately, it shouldn't be an automatic decision).
Not a bad first period from the Habs aside from some of these penalties. Domi was lucky to only get four for the fight against Batherson - he had dropped the gloves and was throwing punches - that should have been a five.
I doubt assat is in the equation anymore though

Kotkaneimi has started to cool off quite a bit. I wonder if world jr's could become an option now.

I find myself changing the chanel more and more with this team.
The defensive structure is so flawed. I'm clearly no expert, but they stretch the neural zone with the wingers way too much. This defense can't move the puck like that.

People were terrified that we had 'wasted' Tinordi too. I'm not that worried.
Tinordo got more looks.
Just a different scenario. Time will tell, I guess

What a waste

What a terrible pass.
Price gott a have that though

I'd be a little more worried about the habs D then the announcer.
First petry with awful turnover, then gets undressed.
Benn was lucky on his awful turnover,
I don't know what Benn was thinking

All Russians have been purged from the CJ team. Don't think any are left.
Surprised they drafted a Russian, although MB and CJ will be gone by the time he is ready
We all said it from pre season that Scherbak would have a tough time under Julien.
Say what you want about Scherbak, but he has played zero games with the Habs this year. That's a bit ridiculous

The guys a legend, but yea ive been laughing all night at the way his commentary has been. So delayed and tangential
I try not to say anything, but that last little sequence about price's save ( which it wasn't even a save), was really bad

Bob Cole needs to retire

Hey, anything that kneecaps the Leafs is a scenario well worth savouring, even if it never comes to pass. Certainly this would be a no-brainer for Arizona.
I'd love to see it happen

The only thing I can think of would be something to do with Jeff Petry to help the right side of their back end and some sort of cap dump coming along with Nylander so they can sign their big guns next year. Habs have Weber, Juulsen and Brook for RHD lined up moving forward and Nylander would look great in the top 6
It will be interesting to see if Arizona throws an offer sheet at Mathews next year.
Sportsnet had entertained the idea too.
Home town boy, would be the huge face of that franchise, gigantic marketing scheme.
Highly unlikely, and T.O will probably matching anything, but who knows.

I'm not liking that 4th line. We have gotten away from the speed game that we played early in the season. With Byron back in the fold now, I think we should get back to that relentless high forecheck and speed game. I think Peca should draw back in for Chaput and Hudon for Deslauriers personally
I also wouldnt mind seeing Kotkaniemi getting a few games between Tatar and Gallagher to see if he can take his game to another level. Danault can centre a really good shut down 3rd line...
Drouin Domi Shaw
Tatar Kotkaniemi Gallagher
Byron Danault Lehkonan
Agostino Peca Hudon
With last change both games this weekend... we can control the matchups as much as possible (especially vs SJ) so it could be an ideal time to give it a look back to back.
That 3rd line could be one of the most tenacious checking lines in the NHL and could surprise with some secondary scoring off turnovers as well
The fourth line hasn't even been bad lately. They have been getting lots of zone time last couple games. That's exactly what you want from them

I Honestly think having Alzner in Laval will help his trade value

I doubt it. Muzzin is their best trade chip so I can't see them taking less than top value by tossing Kovalchuk in there. I honestly think there's a market for Kovalchuk so I don't think they'd need to do that anyway.
Desjardins doesn't like Kovalchuk. He has been benched like crazy. Even though Desjardins says it's because of line matching.
In sure they'll get a new coach before they make any moves.

What type of player do you think they would take back

Good move. I agree with the point about him being stagnant right now too.
Don't fk this kid up, he's going to be a good one
-
Not playing bad
Drouin might be one of the most frustrating players I've watched.
-
It will be a good 10 games before he gets back into form
-
Kotkaniemi is legit. He always seems to find an open man

They're struggling, sure. But it's still not a repeat of last year.
The past 5 games have looked like last year
I don't mean this season as a whole.

Kulak pinches way too much man. I get that's what they want, but way too much
