I can't take another year of Alzners inept offensive play.
It's insane that he was this team's biggest F.A signing in the off season

Scherbak quarter backing second unit

Habs...

watched on the PVR, they played OK. It felt like a training-camp game: lots of broken plays.
Juulsen and Riley looked good. And Drouin's line was on fire!
CJ 2.0 is finally yielding good performance out of the team (for 19 minutes out 20)
.
Well, I don't understand why Julien feels the need to shift Galchenyuk around. Playing with guys like Danault and Shaw does not help Galchenyuk perform. He needs talented linemates.
Maybe that's a one dimensional player, but I mean if it's going to yield success, don't fuk with it

Thanks for the thread. Habopotamus needs to learn the tradition of creating a game thread after wins though. I’m still vying for 18-0-1.
To Trizzak:
I will be on the job today ??
I forgot they even played

When you see home fans boo your best forward missing on a breakaway, I suppose it is to be expected that you will find some here that are of similar cynical mindset.
That was more than missing on a breakaway.
You in your figure skates could have looked prettier than what Pacioretty pulled off.

Before the season I made a large bet with a friend that the Habs would make the playoffs and the Leafs wouldn't....I'm not sure what's worse, paying him the money or listening to him trash talk me all year.
They do need some pieces to be a serious contender but the good news is that they have a lot of youth that could step up or be used in a hockey trade to fill holes. And who knows what the draft will bring. Personally I've been liking the idea of trading Patches for a top 4 LD, the lineup would be much more balanced and improved:
Galchenyuk - Tavares - Gallagher
Lehkonen - Drouin - Scherbak
Byron - Danault - Shaw
Deslauriers - De La Rose - Hudon
Muzzin? - Weber
Alzner - Petry
Mete - Schlemko/Benn/Juulsen
It's not perfect but it's pretty good
So we are a top pair d-man and one of best players in the game away from accomplishing anything.... Sounds easy enough.

I don't dislike the Julien system. It is safe smart high posession hockey with a solid percentage of high danger scoring chances. He puts them in a position to win. IMO. The biggest problem I see is the players inabiliy to make lateral plays and force goalies left to right. To me this is a personnel issue and not a coaching issue.
Pacioretty has said himself that the team was focussing too much on strategy and not enough on playing the game.... when a coach is all about structure and tight knit hockey, The offensive part of the game takes a back seat. Players become too focused on who they're covering and where to be on the ice.

I'm not usually one to blame or praise coaches, but I hate the way the Habs play under Julien. It's boring, mind boggling and ineffective. And the way he coaches isn't geared towards the makeup of this team. He needs big bodies that grind and have a net presence, the Habs need a coach that encourages speed and offense for their young forwards.
Julien is not the answer for this team.

I'd like to see Julien fired just as much as Bergevin.
Julien is exactly like Therrien. I see all the same tactics and favouritism. Julien just likes his team to control the puck a little more. Other than that, they run the same hockey school

Reilly's got some puck moving skill. But that defensive game is an adventure.
Scary.
My old ass fell asleep in the third again, but from what i saw, it looks like Scherbak might be a player moving forward.
He gets caught with his head down a lot, but it seems like he's going to produce for this team

1) Frost plays on a stacked team
2) Its hard to compare an 18 year old in college playing in a league of 18-24 year olds vs an 18 year old in a league of 16-20 year olds.
I was going to say it's a little different being in the O

It's hard to imagine that a GM could see the Islanders' defence corps and think to himself that Brandon Davidson was a missing piece of the puzzle. That is not a playoff-calibre back end.
I'm amazed EDM got a 3rd rounder

I was looking at Morgan frost on there... having a solid year

Best GDT ever.... epic.
The beginning of the end of 17-18. Thank god it’s almost over.
Ya, pretty pathetic GDT
Man these guys are hard to watch

Petry can be AWFUL at times

So he was basically a safe pick... was there not another player out there with more offensive upside.
Seems a lot like he'll be a Philip Danault

What does Poehling project as?

What I'm hoping is that Bergevin was given the red light on deadline day. He was allowed to make minors moves, but nothing of significants.
Come April, he will be fired.
