Lets not forget the reason he clotheslined Zednick was because Zed was making him look like a slow moving clown. I wonder how much slower McLaren looks in the new NHL? However, it does seem like refs let big players get away with more.

  2. Lets avoid doing the Montreal thing and overeacting to a few words. We won the game and we should be happy. Ribeiro's a pre-modona and should be disciplined for a number of reasons, but not for some lame comments alone. I hate his head shaking after failed passes and shots. His slammed sticks when someone goes offside. He rides his French Canadian good old boys status to excuse his poor perforances. I like the idea of having French Canadians on the Habs and if we could fill the team with only the best French canadians in the league I'd be in heaven, but Ribeiro still nwouldn't be a top pick for me.

We have to draw the line between extremes though. Ribeiro should not be traded away. He has skills. By that same token he shouldn't be allowed to treat the team like he owns it.

Heheh, and Avery. I've been waiting for this game ever since he spouted off about Gauthier in the preseason. Don't disappoint me boys, send 'em back to Cali with broken hearts.:king:

    :ghg:

Don't you wish we bring back Claude Lemieux at his prime for games like this. He could out dirty anyone in the league. Avery would never play again.

  4. Expect Avery to run the goalie at least once. He went at Hacek at least twice yesterday. LA is a dirty team, Avery might start shit but his teamates will likely do the rough stuff for him. That's why we should have goon representation. That and given our injuries there is a possibility we will put out another lack luster loss tonight. If we lose on top of Avery's past remarks and then dirty play in the game, I'll lose it.

One thing I thought Ottawa did wrongly yesterday was by not targetting top Kings players. They run your goalie you Labarbera even worse. Who cares if Avery gets injured. When the other team realizes that every dirty thing he does is going to cost them a top player of their own, he'll be benched.

  5. you're absolutely right. Somebody on the team better have watched this game because we are going to need at least on tough player called up. That or Rivet and Souray will have to beat this guy down

  6. It was stupid Forum booing that helped create this mess. He should be cheered down the red carpet. Then he should be hired as a goalie coach and do for Theodore and more importantly Price what Lemieux is doing for Crosby. Welcome back Roy and i would gladly lay a boot to anyone that boos you in the Bell Centre. He still could offer us a hell of a lot. Who knows he could even probably play if he had to.

  7. Call up Ferland. I didn't see him do a bad thing in the 5 secs they let him play in pre-season. He's got heart and grit which is more than you can say for most of the team right now. Put him on with Begin and Bulis and we'll see some magic I guarantee it. Don't let the AHL stats fool you. What looks good on paper there doesn't always translate into NHL stats or what the team needs. I'd like to see him get picked up before he gets stolen from under us.

  8. Time to reconcile ourselves to the fact that we've gone from cheering for the winning Habs to the losing Habs. Expect losses. The only thing that will get me cheering is blood on the ice. Call in the goons, I want entertainment for our losses. Two goons were picked up off waivers that we should have gone for, Colton Orr and Nathan Parrot. This should be a priority now or at least until Kovalev gets back.

Yes Lister, very hard to watch ... they have no drive. It's like they've given up, used Kovalev, Markov, Souray as excuses?? I don't know. Passes aren't crisp, stupid stupid penalties are taken left right and center ... that to me is a lack of concentration. So where's Julien ... he needs to shake those guys up ... get their drive going.

That's it and if Julien can't make an impression on these guys it might reach a time where we have to look to Gainey to find a solution even if that solution is coaching. It wouldn't be the first time a good coach couldn't motivate certain types of players. i also hope that someone sent the tape of that Toronto game to the league. This is pretty demoralizing when your team battles back to be cheated. The affects last longer than one game. That shit shouldn't fly in any league and it happens to Montreal all the time. Smaller teams and non-Toronto friendly shouldn't get handed a different standard of officiating. If nothing was done I'd say our management let the ball drop there. Markov's suspension to boot. :wall: those refs should be suspended and banned from officiating the Habs for a year. What will it take to make refs accountable???

Not that this is the cause of all of our problems but it is there.

Not the right thread for this, but everyone keeps talking about offence, why not pick up a guy with skills a la huselius and see if he works out here, he is on waivers. He has skills just needs to show some heart

Players with heart problems right now are the biggest concern. I wouldn't want to add anymore talented slumbering players. We need a young Doug Gilmour or like someone else said a Laperriere. I don't see anyone putting guys like this on the auctioning block

Where is the team that was so exciting at the begining of the season?

That question has been haunting me before Kovalev got his surgery. Where did the never say die go? This is what we lived on when the team was less experienced and less talented. We need another grinder up front. I almost wish they would just take the risk and call up Latendresse, trade Bonk for a first rate goon to protect him. We can't wait 3/4s of the season for Ivanans to get back.

    *hates Chara*

I'd love it for one of Ivanans first orders of business to be to take that guy out on a stretcher

    It's official.

Every team is paying the refs except Montreal.

And what about "black funds"? Are existing among the NHL teams. What do you think?

It wouldn't surprise me. You have a lot of teams with surplus revenues and outdated styles of play. What better way to survive the transition into the new NHL.

I doubt there is any investigations into this stuff. When you look at the groups that invest in hockey teams and the money at stake it makes you wonder. The Ontario teachers pension plan isn't going to want to lose their retirement plans with the competing revenues of the Ottawa Senators and the Habs.

Hell in a handbasket, but as bad as Montreal gets I won't turn my tv off. That's what they want so then the Leafs can go on in an unchallenged market.
