Higgins a 1st rounder and plekanec just 71 overall (3th)?

Nice pic, tommy. By the way, if you're watching the game on TV, Bulis had a good chance there.

...Yann Denis was spelling Habs starting goalie Jose Theodore, who will start tonight. It was the sixth time in 13 games the Sabres had faced a team's backup goalie.
I didn't know Yann's related to former Chicoutimi goalie Marc Denis. Come on, Daniel Markov, Yann Denis. You make a living out of this, no?

Like so many of you have already posted earlier, habs have to stay out of the penalty box. Buffalo has scored at least one PP goal in their last seven games, going 14 for 46 (30,4%). Last saturday they scored 4 PP goals in 1 game against the Islanders. They are 18 for 89 (20,2%) on the season.

It was Mr. Michaud who was called up after Doug Gilmour became good friends with Varada. As a result Michaud got to see 18' of NHL action on a west coast road trip in relief of Mathieu Garon. Just kidding hé. Michaud is a decent goalie, don't expect him to crack the lineup one day.

I remember a few years ago we played a double-header for Buffalo. In the first game they injured Hackett, in the second they injured Theo. I was at that game. Lucky they don't have Varada (the injurer) anymore. Actually Theo got injured when he wandered out of the net to get a loose puck and got knee-on kneed (attempt to injure). So Theo, I speak for us all when I say STAY IN YOUR NET!
Don't think Olivier Michaud is sharing your point of view.

Oh my god! I can't believe the idiot commentators for Bell Express Vu. I was watching the highlights from the Habs site and after the Perezhogin goal, they congratulated "Daniel Markov." Who the hell is Daniel Markov? There's a Danny Markov, but he doesn't play for Montreal. Why can't they get our players' names right? Grrr, I'm so mad right now!
I guess they will get Andrei's name correct after the All-Star votes are counted.

Correct. According to Pat Hickey from the gazette Raitis has started skating again.

As hard as it is to say guys, I think because Montreal has been barely winning their games and buffalo has got something to prove I think the habs will lose, but don't get down cause the Habs will win the next game after that.
prediction Habs 3
Sabres 5

WAT!!!!!
Oh I am getting bad vibes from your post.
I am sticking to my standard Habs will win. I am also thinking a Sweep! Danis, Friday and Theo Saturday. Buffalo now has a goaltending problem, fast teams skate by their defence too. As long as the Habs keep the puck most of the game in buffalo's end I say VICTORY. (but close again)
Buffalo a goaltending problem? Get real! Martin Biron is without a doubt a bona fida #1 NHL goalie. The emergence of Miller has kept Biron on the bench and trust me on this one, there are lots of GM's that want a goalie like Biron on there depth chart. He's one awesome goalie.
Your words not mine in bold. Being on a bench not playing does not warrant "AWESOME". Plus you obviously did not watch the last Buffalo game when he went in. He was OK, not awesome. Maybe in two weeks when he has had time to win a couple of games I will agree with you. For now I will see how he does against the Habs.
Also I did not say he was a bad goalie, I said goaltending problem. AKA no real playing time, lost his starting job, coach and GM question whether to trade him...well you get my point. That is as real as I can get!
I did see the latest Buffalo games and have to agree Biron wasn't superb. The reason why Buffalo has been winning early on was Ryan Miller. Having an awesome goalie like Martin Biron on the bench is telling a lot bout the play of Miller. Biron didn't lost his qualities with his demotion to the bench. The luxury of having Ryan Miller, Biron and Noronen makes it possible to get improvement in other areas, no surprise to see one of them leaving. I understand your point of view, but wouldn't be calling buffalos situation a goaltending problem.

Did any of you see some Pittsburgh games? Forget that crosby's just 18, forget the hype, forget the great one liked him even before we knew him, forget he's just coming out of junior and just watch the #87 penguin player play. this kid's great. He isn't out of place playing alongside lemieux, recchi, .., give the kid a break. Give them both a break. Just enjoy both kids showcasing there skills. Have fun!

speaking off them leafs, did you know; while other NHL rinks are content with an on-ice message that says "thank you fans," the arrogant Toronto Maple Leafs have to write: "thank you Leaf fans. As though no one else matters. Well, Leaf fans got their much-deserved comeuppance Saturday night.

Jamie McLennan in goal for the Panthers. Luongo getting the night off, should start well rested on tuesday.

It's Saku... by a mile... hard nose players like Begin are great to have... but Saku is the man.
obviously Koivu is the public face of the team. He will get the awards, the stars and the national plaudits...
but Begin is ours. Fans outside montreal don't really know about him, and that endears him to us all the more.
You are watching a game with the opposing team's fan, he's a reasonable guy (in spite of his bad choice of team) and he talks about his checking line's ability to shut down the koivu line. He worries about his shooter's ability to pepper Theo. He wonders if Bonk's line will nullify his top scorer. He notes that our defense is league-average. He notes... BAM - some small guy rocks his captain into the board. Staggering, he wonders if this #22 is trying to showcase for a trade. His confidence is restored as his team goes on the PP. His team takes the zone, passes back to their heavy shooting defenseman at the point, a sonic boom echoing as the slapshot erupts from his stick and... what? a blocked shot from #22? Well, at least that guy must be out of the game with some cracked ribs... A few more shifts later and BAM! - #22 gets on a break with #35 and oops? did 22 just score? What? He's still in the game? Wow... who is this guy? How much are you paying him? You picked him off waivers?!?!?
Begin.
Awesome. I'm going to frame this if it's OK with you, that's just what steve B is all about, great!

"We all love saku, kovalev is a wonder, perezhogin, higgins and plekanec are the future and andrei markov is a quiet talent- but for fun delivered per minute played, for courage, for letting it all hang out? We'll take steve begin." -Jack Todd, Montreal Gazette 24/10/05
