  1. since gainey's looking for a right handed centerman, a trade with edmonton would be possible if they toss peca in the mix. peca could be a perfect third line center.

I looked around to see what other right handed center man montreal could land

    jason arnott

    stu barnes

    conroy

    shawn bates

    jeff halpern

    robert land

    mike peca

    scatchard

    stumple

    york

    mike johnson

    travis green

    hrdina.....and jim dowd !!

Id' love to see peca or scatchard...maybe halpern if the price'S not to high

I like Arnott, Peca, Scatchard, and Selanne would be nice for the end of season but dont take him for more than 20 games

  2. guy lafleur maybe?

    bobby orr?

o\Orr stopped playing in 1978- nah Lafleur wasnt there, anyways I'm looking for 2 famous centers both won Canada Cups for Canada and were involved in the Cup winning goal.

I think Orr had retired by then.

It's a center we're looking for otherwise I'd say Bourque.

I want a center one of two hall of famers- just found out one has a rock band named after him

  3. If I was Pittsburgh, I would draft the defence EriK Johnson, not a forward. They don't need help to score, they need help desperatly at D.

Johnson is currently rated the #1 prospect for next year.

Id get Kessel- Kessel Crosby Malkin- a superstar line for 10 years

  4. You know looking at our D its not that bad. We got Markov and look at what Streit is doing at the Olympics. We got Rivet who sometimes is very good but he's inconsistent. Souray is getting his game going. Komi was coming around under Gainey. Dandenault and Bouillon I think are 5th and 6th defenceman capables. What we lack is a real rugged hitting Dman since Komi is just getting his feet wet and Souray doesnt do it often enuff and Rivet isnt big enuff.

  5. Hint time- The goalie for Italy was a star with the Concordia Stingers and had a stint with the Nordiques.

As for the future hall of famers for Canada- two are now general managers in the NHL- one is a coach in the NHL and the other two were centers and captain of their teams for many years and all of them are legends and superstars

  6. Was this game even during the olympics?

We've played them 3 times (well, the fourth time just ended). 1948, 1956 and 1994. 1994 has no HOF's and the 1956 game wasn't a tie. 1948 was when we almost skipped the games and sent a bunch of scrubbers to St.Moritz so I can't see any of them being in the HOF either.

No I was talking about the World Championships and no it was not in the 20's

  7. Well that's just guess and opinions. I would say that:

    Brodeur

    Thornton

    Iginla

    Nash

    Sakic

    Lecavalier

    Luongo

    Heatley

are guys that have a pretty legitimate shot at the Hall of Fame. That makes 8 but like I said, there's no right or wrong answer (unil we find out in 40 years).

boy bulis my question was who played in nets for Italy when they tied Canada. In the game for Canada were at least 5 future hall of famers- Who were they? This happened a long time ago- They are now now in the Hall

  8. Good point, Strumm....comparing Koivu to Yzerman is preposterous....isn't even on the same level.

believe me being a Habs fan I would love for Koivu to lift that Cup- but you gotta stop thinking Koivu is a superstar- he isnt- he is a competitor I think and he wants to win bad and Gainey was a competitor when he played and he didnt have great stats either- but Gainey was no Lafleur and Koivu is no Stevie Y

Back to the contract no Koivu didnt deserve that contract- but the reality is maybe a superstar other than Crosby might not want to come here.

  9. You mean like when Saku played for the AHL Canadiens a couple of years back and made everyone so good that the team actually made the playoffs? You remember the stellar talent, right? Juha Lind? Johan Witehall? Yzerman and Sakic never had it that bad.

yeah I guess when John Ogrodnick got 50 goals in one season it was cause he was an all-star nothing to do with Stevie Y

  10. And Detroit should NEVER EVER have resigned that forward guy who was their captain - he never did win a damn thing... what was his name? Quiet guy, did all his talking in his play... hmmm.. Steve Yzerman?

OH WAIT! He did win eventually when they put quality around him! And suddenly, he was also called one of the best leaders in the game!

And you know who else is injured every year? Yeah, half the talented players in the game.

oh yeah good comparison Yzerman and Koivu let's compare stats- the same Yzerman that got 58, 50,62 , 65 goals in a season before he was 30 and Koivu who even got 21 goals one year the highest he ever got- wow they are siamese twins- yeah stevie Y was injured every year when he scored all those goals- or was he injured every year after he won all those cups ??? :?-

    Yzerman

  11. I looked in my media guide as well and it does in fact say unsuccessful.

But anyways I will ask a question.

How many Hat Tricks did bob Gainey score??

February 27, 1988: Captain Bob Gainey nets the lone hat trick of his 15-year NHL career to lead the Canadiens to a 6-0 win over Winnipeg at the Forum. Brian Hayward collects his fourth career shutout.

As i said he only got one

    Next question:

Canada plays Italy on Wednesday(men). Italy tied Canada once- Who was the goalie for Italy?-

Which hall of famers played for Canada- 5 will do

  12. when they shows cournoyer,s penalty shot, they say: unsuccessful....I guess It was as a maple leafs point of view.

well i remember that penalty shot I saw it live on tv- it was embarassing Cournoyer had few shifts with Toe Blake anyways he goes in on Bower and shoots and Bower lifts his catching glove like he was picking cherries and in a blase manner catches it -like look kid you gotta do better than that

  13. I think I was pretty clear. I said "record for consecutive games". Also when Kozed suggested Daneyko I pointed out he scored in the playoffs to snap his streak. When marky_and_komi suggested Darren Langdon he also pointed out that Langdon had scored in the playoffs.

As for Zettler, he had 5 goals and 65 assists in 583 games for a 0.12 pts per game average which is better than most of the guys who were suggested. His goals per game average of 0.0086 is also not as bad as these four other guys who were discussed:

    Halsko: 0 (159 games)

    Komisarek: 0 (118 games now)

    Gordie Dwyer: 0 (108 games)

    Brad Brown: 2 in 341 games = 0.0059

but over 500 games which is more like a career zettler is numero uno

    so who's asking next???

  14. YES!!!

Most consecutive games without a goal: Ken Baumgartner 238 games (between 95-96 and 98-99). In 95-96 he was a Leaf. He was traded to the Ducks and after the 97-98 season signed as a free agent with the Bruins.

He also achieved the impressive feat of playing 93 straight games (between November of 1991 and April of 1993) without scoring a single point. I am unsure whether this is a record. It's hard to imagine anyone beating it.

Over his career he had 14 goals, 43 assists, 747 games giving 0.076 pts/game.

On Jan 30, 1986 he was traded from Buffalo with Sean McKenna and Larry Playfair to Los Angeles for Doug Smith and ex-habs defenceman Brian Engblom.

Mont Royale's turn to pose a question.

You should have stated that playoff games included- anyways rob zettler had a worse goal per game average- he had 5 goals in 583 games for a .008 average
