I think koivu has taken another step in maturity...with the help of gainey at his side..and would vouch to say he will get at least 30 goals this year..barring injury
-
LETS GO GUY....LAT"UNDRESS" SOME PEEPS
-
HABS GO HABS!!!!
thought id change it up a bit hehe
someone posted earlier what a good opening night roster would be...and i agree...with one minor substitution.
Higgins Koivu Ryder
Latendresse Ribeiro Kovalev
Samsonov Plekanec Perezhogin
Begin Bonk Johnson
pleks and zhogurt played amazing together in the playoffs last year....if u guys dont remember...they were our best line in the playoffs....along with zednik
samsonov will be able to keep up with plek (fastest skater in AHL skills comp) and zhogs....one deadly line if they can get their shit together..
just like the SI article said.....we are like a mould of buffalo...that would make 3 very offensive lines....and even the fourth line could chip in offensively in my mind
but beside that....LETS WHOOP SOME LIGHTNING ASS TONIGHT WOOOOOOOOOOO
-
I have 4 Cheap tickets for sale together (center ice), in section 420 (Blue Section) for the Habs :hlogo: vs. Tampa anyone want to go? Email me: anewrevolution11@hotmail.com

Ok boys....im tired of all the poo threads
Give me ur line combinations if u were Car-BO
personally, i think this lineup wouldnt be too shabby at all
Ryder Koivu Kovalev
Samsonov Plekanec Perezhogin
Higgins Ribeiro Johnson
Begin Bonk Murray
I want to hear other ppl opinions of their own lines..... I dont want to hear ppl say that my, or someone elses lines should be " dans la poubelle" (im not french )
NO CRITICIZING OTHER PPLS..... Be smart enough to not care what other ppl post and just post ur own opinion
aaaaaaannnndd GO!

I have only seen grabovsky highlights, and he does have great speed, acceleration, all that skilled scoring prowess, and as someone who is only 5' 7 (me), and who hates ppl knocking short guys, i gotta say, to be a superstar you must have everything. Either that or an overwhelmingly confident attitude which leads you to play your assets perfectly and your deficiencies are out of mind.
Also, judging superstardom is difficult for someone new.
But, i believe we do have someone who definitely has superstar potential, as long as his confidence is there.
Alexander Perezhogin
Hes got the size atover 6 feet and over 200 pounds (even added more weight this year), hes also one of the fastest players on the team at full steam, and as his old coaches used to say, his acceleration is above average, which, in the new nhl is probably the greatest asset as the pace is back and forth all the time.
He is a sturdy boy, ended primeaus career with a nudge, and i have yet to see anyone knock him off the puck or beat him in a battle along the boards. Hes got a bullet of a shot, which is also very accurate.
I could keep going on with this stuff..... but better yet, id challenge someone to point out a valid flaw with this potential superstar. notice i say VALID!!!
So.......hit me?
-
wow and your a girl?
I dont know where u got that idea.
-
I call with grabovsky......well........###### it im all in!
I AM PUMPED UP LIKE AN ERECTION!!!!!!
LETS GO BOYS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
-
any news on how grabovsky played.....i cant read french
-
First of all......i give all my hopes that koivu will be ready to play and he will play well.
But, if he is not ready, or worse.....gulp...retires, i dont think we need to make any major moves.
I personally think we have enough in our system to ice a winning team.
My lineups would go as follows:
Samsonov Ribeiro Kovalev
Higgins Plekanec Ryder
Perezhogin Grabovsky Kostitsyn
Begin Bonk Murray
The thing that has to be realized is that we CAN win with what we have. Koivu is obviously a big loss, but if the team, as it is, comes together as a group, we could do wonders.
And i know the first thing someone is going to say is "Your a crack head.....ribeiro is never going to be a 1st line centre...blah blah blah" but i think the 4 centres we have there would do a great job.
Grabovsky is my hopefull to make the team this year as the highlights i saw from the world championships last year were sensational...and, on the rush, he resembles the man who he tied (i think) in points in the tourney, one alex ovechkin. And no, im not saying hes as good as ovechkin, but brings the same dynamic to the offense, especially paired with bellarusian linemate kosty... and perezhogin is a 1st line player in my books when hes on his game.
Plekanec in my regards is also ready to step up in a second line role, especially since hes a great passer and higgins and ryder do wonders putting the puck in the back of the net.
The first line will do amazing.....thats all i have to say...dont doubt ribeiro, especially when he has the likes of .......dont make me say the names....on his right and left.
And the 4th line will be a line that teams will not want to play against. Begin and murray will beat u up and bonk will....well.....stand there and take pictures hehehehe, kidding....i think bonk will step it up as well.
In closing, all im trying to show is some optimism for what we already have. Its obvious gagne would bring alot to our team....but the chances of getting him are slim......and....who the hell is daze :?- hehehhee.
GO HABS GO!!!!! IM COUNTING THE DAYS TILL PUCK DROP
-
I think these guys would give us a great year
Elias Koivu Kovalev
Higgins Plekanec Ryder
Perezhogin Ribeiro Kastitsyn
Murray Bonk Begin
Downey
Markov Komisarek
Souray Boullion
Rivet Dandenault
Streit
Huet
Danis
get rid of zednik, sundstrom, and bulis who is already gone \
I didnt check to see if this would work financially, but i think group they could be a great combination. With possible additions such as Trades for zeds or other expendables, latendresse, arnott, or just plain gainey magic, this team would be a great contender.
I have sports channels on all day... i am hoping for gainey to bust out!!!

I am curious to see who will step up in the playoffs and who will turn into a ghost out there.
Last year, obviously kovalev took us all by storm, along with both koivu and zednick, and then theres the other end of the spectrum where Ribeiro had a career change and turned to acting once the playoffs rolled around, and ryder wasnt noticable either.
So whos gonna be hot, whos gonna be cold, and whos gonna play solid in the playoffs this year, personnaly i think it will look something like this:
Solid playoff play:
Markov ( hes is too consisitent in his play to be hot , but he definitely be our best defender)
Rivet
Dandenault (hes better than most think)
Higgins
Ryder
Begin
Hot playoff play:
kovalev (TURN IT ON BABY!!!)
Koivu (he will prove something to his critics)
Plekanec
Perezhogin (him and plekanec will be flyin, i would like to see kovalev on a line with them)
Boullion (aside from markov, he has been a leader of the backend this year)
Souray
Striet (do what he did in the olympics)
Cold playoff play:
Bonk
Sunny
Ribiero (just wont get it done)
Komisarek (im sorry boys, he looks like a chicken with his head cut off most of the time, i still have high hopes for him tho, just not right now)
Downey
Zednik
Bulis (will try to do too much offense out there, wont be playing his game)
GO HABS GO PLAYOFF TIME!!!!! :hlogo:
-
First of all......Huet is the ONLY reason for the following:
1. We are in the playoff hunt
2. Gainey having enough confidence to trade Theo and his fat lump sum of a contract
3. The team brandishing a new level of confidence which stems from huet
4. He has won us at least 5 or 7 close games
5. Not getting bombed anymore in games
6. Players being less frantic to create offense because they are ALWAYS, and i mean ALWAYS in games because of huet keeping it close
The list goes on as huet has carried this team on his shoulders since theo left us in the gutters!
So, abischer looses 2 games, one in which we should have won, huet comes in and we win against washington, and when he loses one game, someone decides to make a negative thread about him?
I am completely and utterly LOST as to why C-love cant stop hating and start lovin
One game...even a game in which they were in until the final buzzer because of who esle.....HUET.... can stem this type of negative speculation. Why cant we just accept whats goin on and ride the HUET-MOBILE while its got gas left in the tank
Huet has the potential to be our number 1 goalie for a while, as long as he keeps his mind on track, realises that he is playing good, and blocks out the negative criticism like "hes never gonna be a number one goalie" or "his five hole is his weakness" or "he slow and allows weak goals".
I am the first to admit i have seen huet let in a weak goal or 2, but no goalie is perfect and when he lets in one of those weaklings, (like the one against Toronto where he passed it right to the leaf player and they scored) he comes right back and playes with twice as much determination and heart, as he then slid across the crease to litterally ROBB ponikarovsky of a Freebie!
HIP HIP HUET!!!!!!
also GO SUDBURY WOLVES!!!! PLAYOFF TIME BABY BEAT THOSE FRONTENACS!!!!!
-
I am all for Gainey goin on a shopping spree like the blue jays did this offseason, but that will most likely not happen. If he gets a top 6 forward and a top 4 defenceman i will be estatic, but even if he does nothing, the team still looks solid, if not spectacular
Kovalev koivu Perezhogin awesome first line, especially if zhogs explodes like i think he will
Ryder Ribeiro Latendresse solid line that i think will be matured far enough by next year
Kostitsyn Plekanec Higgins explosive and speedy, good defensively and can do major offensive damage
Murray Begin Bulis Shut down defensive line begin and murray dealin the hits, and bulis
snipin 'em
Expendable guys like bonk, sunny take up water polo in the summer and find their new passion
Defense will be pretty much the same....unless Emelin makes a jump to the nhl next year which would be awesome as markov could take him under his wing....but i would definitely change the lines drastically......this is also what it SHOULD be this year!!!!
Markov Boullion
Souray Rivet
Komisarek/ Streit Dandenault
Huet
Danis
Aebisher gets sent to the ECHL AHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Fun stuff Speculating :king:
-
good job simonus and habschris, positive feedback!
-
Man, some of u ppl really are just here to bitch.....i said the trade wouldnt happen, just speculation, i mean gimme a break, i was expecting some cocky shit to come on and bash my trade, but i was hoping for most to give their opinion for trades......
obviously mine was a little out there, but i would love a smaller version of that like
Ribiero
Zednik
for
Recci
That probably wouldnt work either tho because recci is washed up right, considering he has 53 points in 59 games, funny thing is he would be leading the habs in scoring
riberio and zednik put together have 55 points, so it would be basically making room for young guys to get ice time and dumping 2 mediocre players and getting a great veteran who would be a great leader here!
I dont mind when ppl quote my stuff and say thing like habitforming did, wondering why i proposed that, but i hate when ppl say their stupid comments like "Wow...what a load of shit...glad your not GM...thats just for the bitch comment" or "say no to crack"........for shame ppl, FOR SHAME!!!
-
Ok, so we know who would be our main trade bait to begin with, the likes of Zednik, Sundstrom, Ribiero, and possibly someone like dandenault or souray, although no player is untradable. So who would we be looking to pick up. Ive looked through all the teams that are struggling, or need a change and I came up with this list of a few players that i think would fit well with the habs:
Forwards:
Mark Recci- who wouldnt love to see him back in a habs jersey, not to mention our need for a big boy who can score
John Leclair- same deal as Recci just less value
Oleg Kvasha- giant russian with decent offense who could possibly complete the russian line of kovalev and perezhogin if he gets some confidence, but would probably be on third line
Defence:
Andrei Zyuzin: not playing to well right now but he is a solid D-man who might play up to his potential in CH
Brendan Whitt: could bring some size to our corps and veteran leadership for the playoffs
Sergei Gonchar: anyone would be crazy not to want him on their team, may be a little defensive liability, but would make up for that with solid PP performance
Eric Brewer: we all know he has the potential to be a top pairing defenceman
so, if i were bob, i would go out on a limb and do something like this:
Pitsburgh:
Recci
Leclair
Gonchar
Montreal:
Ribeiro
Zednik
Kostitsyn
Souray
And i am well aware that this is a far fetched blockbuster trade that will most likely not happen for all u bitches who want to bash my thoughts! (fun to speculate tho)
then the lines would be
Perezhogin Koivu Kovalev
Recci Plekanec Ryder
Leclair Bonk Bulis
Higgins Begin Sundstrom
Markov Gonchar
Rivet Boullion
komisarek/streit Dandenault
I love to think....what if
-
Wow.....a little off topic but i would give anything to see martin havlat in a habs jersey
Something like this would be nice:
Zednik/Ribeiro
kostitsyn
1st rounder
for
havlat
but that would never happen becuase if ottawa is going to get rid of havlat, he will be far far away in the west so they never have to play him.....he is a franchise player waiting for the right coach to give him a slight attitude adjustment
-
To tell you the truth, ottawa is indeed a powerhouse and is in fact the cup favorite. And even if montreal finishes higher than 8th, they would most likely have to play them if they advanced, just like any other team that would advance.
So by saying it would be stupid for bob to improve the team is COMPLETE STUPIDITY!!!
I guess all the other GMs in the league must be feeling the same way, so i guess they would say something like this to their teams:
"ok lets just F#@$ the plans of making our team better to attempt to further contend with the better teams and make a playoff run, lets just accept the fact that we WILL lose if we play ottawa, and we can just accept mediocrity. And guess what boys, we can do the same thing for next year, actually better make it the next few years cuz ottawa is gonna be the same team for a while, so we mineaswell dump all our good players and get draft picks and plan for a day that there are no powerhouse teams so we can win the cup with ease.......WHADDA YA SAY BOYS....CAN YA GIMME A WHOO HAAA!!!!!!!"
The teams that ignore that little mindset of "living on borrowed time" or "we will eventually lose so we minaswell give up now" are the teams that flourish. Prime examples of that are the Nashville predators, Calgary Flames (who beat all 3 division leaders, detroit, vancouver, San Jose, on their route to the cup final), Carolina, Anahiem, Minnesota, and Los Angeles seems to be doing it this year.
Plus, it just so happens that montreal seems to be a team that awakens in the playoffs and feeds on being the underdog ( Boston knockouts last season and 3 seasons ago)
There is no room for pessimistic cuccumbers like u, so start thinking optimistic!!!
-
This would be my list to choose from for shooters:
Non- Shooters:
Zednick-just not playing his best right now so he is a definite no
Sunny- only one comment needed.....NO
Higgins-good all round player, doesnt have spectacular skills in one area like dekeing so i would say no
Bulis- hes got wheels but still not the greatest finisher yet (even tho second on team in goals ), no
Bonk- not fast enough mentally to outsmart goalie....so.........ah..........................no
Begin- if he had a bit more skill i would say yes.....but no
Downey- NO
Shooters:(by priority)
1. Kovalev- he has the skill and expereince to know what to do, with poise, in this situation
2. Perezhogin- the defenition of speed, acceleration, shifty, and quick handed, all great shootout assets
3. Koivu- he definitely has enough skill, so if his mind is at ease he is a good candidate
4. Plekanec- he has shown his well thought out offensive presence enough to be a solid shootout shooter
5. Ribeiro- as long as he is not being pushed around, he can do wonders with the puck, give him a shot
6. Ryder- as a last shootout resort he is ok, but his SHOOT mentality makes him too one dimensional in shootouts
-
All u streit bashers must be smokin something better than i have, cuz he is an amazing player...talent wise
He is missing one thing right now, and anyone in his situation would also....CONFIDENCE....just look at jose....he has one of the highest GGA and lowest Save % in the leage........ So i guess he must be a useless piece of trash with no skill.......ABSOLUTELY WRONG
when a player is not playing with confidence they look out of place and they look like they cant make a pass, or shoot the puck properly, or stick handle at all, and they give the puck up all the time.....this is not due to their skill at all...all these guys in the NHL are there for a reason and striet has to be somthing special for bob to bring him in....plus hes captain of the swiss team
I have seen flashes of brilliance from streit and once he puts it all together he will be a boullion type of defencemen, but with an offensive punch that the habs do not have right now.
all this negativity towards him just impedes his progress even more...u never know he could be on this forum readin all this bullshit right now....how does that make him feel if his fans are against him
So show some support for a guy who lived in a foreign counrty and is in an environment where it is hard from him to make progess quickly...
Dont alienate him ( streit experiment ) MOTIVATE HIM !!!!
5-3 win for the boys
goals: Kovalev, Perezhogin (2), Ryder, Plekanec
Afinogenov, Kotalik, drury
perezhogin has a break out night baby!!!
go habs go
-
I agree that theo wont go anywhere, bob just isnt going to do it and hes already told the media that hes not done trying with theodore.
Bonk i dont think is going anywhere as well because he doesnt have much value right now, but he seems to be improving.
Streit has NO value, but he has loads of potential. I am calling right now that he will be a solid defender that plays alot more once he comes back from the olympics, which will boost his confidence and give him time to think about his game. He is not going anywhere.
Zednick and sundstrom are the most likely candidates for trade bait, and i would love to see a trade for souray as he has proven he can play, he just cant play defence right now.
We are very deep in forwards right now, even in the up and coming years, however weak on defence and even weaker in the defensive prospect department, so i would like to see something like this:
Zednick and Sundstrom for a solid # 2 or 3 defenceman, defninitely, and if they feel like trading souray, get a good prospect D-man for next year, odds are they wont trade souray tho because he is one of their leaders.
defence would look like this:
Markov Rivet
Boullion MR X
Dandenault Streit
Komisarek
-
I remember for the first month or two of the season there was a game recap with an analysis for each player..... but once they started to lose who ever wrote that just stopped.....can someone who gets to see these games PLEASE do one of those...even if it is in the forum.....i would like to know how each individual player played.
ive heard they put in a good effort last night, but i saw rivet and souray on for both goals in regulation. Afinogenovs was a pretty bad job of defence as rivet got the puck stolen from him and was then dazed and confused and then souray also appeared to be in dream land as he was watching Afinos stick instead of the body, which is a souray type of move (bergerons deke last week)........Is it just me or are these 2 guys, especially souray, so unknowledgable about defence that they look at the puck instead of the body, i mean cmon i learned that in TYKE for god sake! :?-
But, seemed to be a positive game for the boys so im happy
