most of the year everyone been talking about Jaroslav Halak and Carey Price....so both guys are rfa this year and with the new cap nhl.. shouldnt we find out how much each guy are looking for and keep the one that we can get the best deal with???

Bashing player was a tool in the seventees. And they are still in the race for playoffs because the other team stink as much as the habs.
In this NHL the dinosaurs are going away and fading away this year more than ever.
Hitchcock OUT, Quinn had done a disastrous job in Edmonton. Did they push their kids to get the best of themselves, work on their strenght
to win or focus only on the result of a game instead of asking themselves how can we get these guys better.
Yeah a system was needed, but for a chance to be a top 1/3 of the league you need a balance of production of cheap young players and costy established players.
All we have right now, his average production of established players, no production from the youth from the system and a goalie stopping pucks.
This makes a .500 team.
Will Martin succeed to develop one NHL er telling him he is AHL stuff this year ot the next, i dunno and i doubt. I sure don't want him to coach

well all i hear is how great the players were in the 70s..so it must work..lol
you have no clue how to get the most out of a person..everyone is different..some guys need to be bash other need to be told their great..its the coachs job to find what works for each guy..
most players today are told their so great from a early age they think there the man before they get to the NHL...so if you take a guy at a young age put him in his place, show him he got to work hard..then when he gets a couple year in the nhl he well feel he fought his way to the top and have confidence in him self..
this is why i think when you bring young top guy up to early they dont play well mostly because of confidence..
Coach are not meant to be players buddies..
this is how it should work..Coach said to player A your a bag of Sh*t, get it together...(he get pissed and what to play better and hard) Team C says to player A dont worry about it your doing OK, you just got to do this better but keep up the good work and it well come..its a lot of pushing buttons with people and Getting the best out of a person..

I dont see Gomez going anywhere his part of the bigger picture...I have heard the Turco(vet goalie) rumor coming to montreal a few weeks back..i dont see how this is a good move unless its a bigger trade..halak or price for turco is a bad trade..

After Sunday lost, i heard JM say that they (the Dog line) surprised Pittsburg
but when they played big men it showed thet were not ready for NHL that they
were AHL.

Each individual has to be reinforced with his strenght, not bashed down.

I disagree with pretty much everything you say..puting players in their place by the coach is a good thing..it show them that they must work for their ice time..Coachs unlike most fans dont just fall in love with a player because of 1or 2 good games..
bashing players is a great tool to get players working harder, as a coach you just as to learn to pick your battles..as me being a guy who play sports all my life and then join the army, being bash by my coachs and leadership at times made me better at my job and a strong person..but like i said their a time for it..
i dont think anyone can blame the GM or Coach this year if we dont make the playoffs..i really cant believe we are still in the playoff race with the guy we have hurt this season..my hats off to all the players and coach for still holding their own with some of the best teams in the nhl when most of are best players are out..
fans got to start looking at the good things the habs got going for them and the good players we have....

I think Mr. Gainey did a good job over all and if he what to be a gm iam sure it wouldnt take long for someone to hire him...
the major problem in monreal are the fans, they just drive each other crazy..guy want Maxim Lapierre to be given the C last season and alot of them are on this broad, people what to trade price because halak as had a good half a year, people whating to trade half the team for Vincent Lecavalier and his 10 mil price tag( you think gomez deal is bad vinny is worst)..and the worst is if bob did these deals and they didnt work out, the same fans would turn onhim again..
Anyway i think bob did a good job even if the fans that what Lapierre to wear the C dont agree lmfao

I thjink the funnier part of that is saying the habs are interested in Souray. Like they don't have enough high priced, big, slow, injured defenseman who are 1 dementional.
i cant see us bring souray back, unless its a bigger package deal and we got to take him to make it work but i didint think the habs or bos was on his list...

I really dont care if we trade both Andrei Kostitsyn or Sergei Kostitsyn as long as we can bring back a couple good player or picks ...i cant see Sergei Kostitsyn whating to be a fouth liner so you can say good bye to him and if Andrei is such a pro drama queen that he cant play because his brother is not on the team its time for him to pack his bags..i think both these kids got a lot of up side but right now they dont have the heart..i used to love these kids when they first got here..they played hard, fight and just give it their all but i feel they had lost alot of that somewhere..with the partying, drug dealer stuff plus i keep hearing that they show up at camp ever year out of shape...so if we can move them atit helps the team iam all for it.. trade i like to make is Andrei Kostitsyn and Metropolit for Jordan Staal
price or halak...i like price more but if i was the habs i would hold on to both unless a super deal come along..i might trade halak at the draft and sign a cheap vet if i was the gm..but if halak the man i can live with that to..both get these guys sign and go from there..
plex i like the guy but if his not sign by the deal line try and trade him..ex.. plex for Sharp
I really think we should move Roman Hamrlik to free up cap space and make room for one of the young guys coming up..

yea i think bob is burn out...with all the sh*t last year and then he put a new team together thats pretty good but been hurt all year..and now the price and halak thing...plex on firer..i dont think bob was thinking this was going to happen and puts him in a hard spot....bob as had some bad luck.I think he think the team need anew start and maybe someone new to look at what could be done..
or this could all be smoke and mirror and bob is still running the show from behind the scenes..this could just be a PR move...

Yzerman signed a deal with Detroit two years ago that effectively makes him unable to take a job with another team, at least that was my understanding.
Tallon is an interesting consideration. He definitely deserves another chance, and has a good rapport with players and managers league wide (aside from the Bowmans in Chicago
).no way on tallon, his the guy who sign hossa and forgot to sign his RFA

He's also the guy that recommended the Habs sign Samsonov, trade for Niinimaa, etc. He was head of the pro scouting, which many found lacking. Of course, that also means he probably recommended some of the good finds too, like Cammalleri and Gionta. Most people point out the negatives. I think he did the scouting on Pouliot, too.
But yes, he's the interim GM. Not official one.
It's not the worst timing in the world. Gauthier has two weeks of no hockey coming up to make acquaintances. He knows the team pretty much as well as Gainey did. He'll have his ideas on what should be done.
but as interim gm i cant see them letting him do alot..unless they are like you got 2 weeks to make somthing happen and if so your the gm

I think we well make a trade before the break..i hope it is to make the team better in the next couple years..i hope we dont look for a quick fix..
I think bob well try to have a deal in place with plex over the break..if we cant sign him WE MUST TRADE HIM BEFORE THE DEAL LINE...
He should get a high pick and a player i would think..

If we're in the playoff picture, I could only see Gainey moving Kostitsyn and Price. I can't see Gainey trading Halak this season, only Price (not that I support this). Some fans believe in retooling at the deadline and getting a higher pick - managers don't. Unless we drop to 10th in the East by the deadline, I'm expecting something horrible.
It wouldn't matter if he were 18, he's still a rental. How could we reasonably expect to re-sign him? (Granted that we would have had to trade one of Gomez/Hamrlik in the trade to make the deal work.) I wouldn't be surprised if Gainey had offered something like Hamrlik and Price.
well if we are moving players for picks, yes...but if we make trades to make the team better now then that would effect the playoff race ex price or halak for sharpe..
i dont like rented players unless your a top 5 team..the coast is to big..

This situation tells me that my fears were spot-on. Gainey is willing to part with youth to add to this year's team. So long as we're in the top 8 in the East, we're going to be buyers. :puke:

i sure there more we could move to make different deals but this is not alot of youth if we move any of these guys and had to add one young guy of a pick to make a good trade..

i was thinking today we must trade Sk soon...for the reason that he can be a second line player on alot of teams and it does look like he ever get a real shot in montreal anymore unless we are hurt...i dont think he really what to be in montreal anymore..so i could see him go to the khl for more money and more playing time...so i think bob should move him to Edm..iam not sure what they give up for him but anything is better then nothing..
i really thing bob got to start looking at the big pic and find out what guys what to be here and the guys that dont and move them..Sk is easy to replace as he is mostly a 4th or 3rd line player for us(which i dont think is a good fit for him)..so he is easy to replace with one of the young guys in the ahl so why hang on to him..

listening to guy on cbc, i can see why the habs couldnt understand what he want them to do...he talks but i never understand the point his trying to get a cross..

big win last night..beat the best team in the the east..put a end to the was cap winning streak..way to go habs..
price had 33 saves and the team score 6 goals..all around good game by everone...(was it just me or did Markov look a little off last night)
if your on this game thread fighting about price and halak then that is sad...we just play and beat the hottest team in the nhl and guys are still crying about goalies..GOD help us...
