  1. It's no secret that this will be dealt with internally and quietly. The refs union will be involved but in the end Auger will probably be penalized, although what the penalty is will not be made public.

i think the longer this go on, the more ex nhl players that comes out with their storys..because the guys still playing are scared to..this guy fixed a game..if the nhl dont firer this guy it makes it look like the whole nhl is fixed..

  2. The truth is is that this kind of interaction between refs and players (and coaches) are commonplace. Auger was just stupid enough to come out and say it.

this Auger thing is starting to get to me..the less the nhl does about it the more it makes me think it is true and the nhl is doing a cover up...not that this as happen but if the nhl is covering it up,its a good chance it as more to hind...auger went and talk to Burrows before the game..auger made 2 bad calls on burrows at the end of the game..auger was made to look like a fool in the nas call..this is all true..so why dont the nhl listen to the kid...what did auger say in his defs????the nhl is covering this up for sure..

  3. Could be - can't say I follow Edmonton all that much. :) Read about that little blurb, thought I'd mention it given the alleged rumour.

Nikolai Khabibulin was a bad pick up..their major things wrong with this team..the gm might be trying to get a feel from the players on what they thing is wrong...this team need to be take apart..but i dont see edmonton having much that other teams would what or give up alot for..

  4. To add to the discussion, apparently something's up in Edmonton, one of their beat reporters put on Twitter that they're leaving practice to speak with their GM. Still think it's fishy, but hey, it's a slow day all around. One other Oiler name to consider: Patrick O'Sullivan who has been a bust for the most part with them.

the full team meeting with the gm?

  5. Well since the board is dead, Ek has a pending trade between the habs and Oilers. He heard form 3 or 4 soureces or something. Obviously he has no names.

So take that for what it is worth, please don't shoot the messanger.

iam sure the oilers are talking to everone one right now..they are in a free fall..

wondering who they what? or who we might get...

  6. i just watch otr and Former NHL head of officiating, Brian Lewis was so dumb....saying something like this could never happen...just saying that it is impossible..show this guy is clueless..when it comes to being human and emotions, anything is possible..i feel a big cover up coming...

i have played sports and i think most people have and we know there is emotions..with coachs, players and refs..by lewis saying it would never happen he must think the fans are dumb or he is the most honest man alive lmfao..

almost every league as had somthing come out about ref...why would the nhl be different..ref in the nhl are not human..give me a break..

  7. Major props to Burrows for slamming Auger on his bullshit calls. Refs need to be held accountable for stuff like this and if the NHL doesn't address it, especially now that it will be in the public eye, I will be very disappointed.

i agree..i always thought the south team got breaks ...but this auger guy for some reason always stood out in the habs games for me...

  8. I dont know how high your head is in the clouds...but last time I checked Gomez has been a sucker trade to date. And if Gainey knew that Kovalev and Koivu were not going to be resigning in MTL, why not dish them for something at the trade deadline to yield at least SOMEONE half decent. Just piss poor GM'ing ....it doesnt matter who you put on the Canadiens. They always have leaks which develop to major flaws.

this theard as nothing to do with gomez or gainey or koivu..as to do with the bum kovalev...if my heads in the clouds, your must be in outer space..iam not going to waste my time on this guy anymore..his a bum, cry baby, and not worth missing..becuse iam pretty sure ottawa would trad him for a bag of pucks right now... lmfao...

try cheering for the guys on the team now...not some wash up player who never had the heart to be great..

  9. http://dailyhab-it.blogspot.com/

Pertinent observations on Gomez, including that he's been a PPG producer with 18 points in 18 games, after shaking off his usual autumn slump. Production comparable to the vaunted superhero of so many fans, Tomas Plekanec. Also comments about how much attention he draws from opposition defenceman, implying a player who clearly becomes part of the opposition game plan (thus creating more space for other players on the team). And so on.

He'll never be a superstar and he'll never be worth his ridiculous contract. But he's a good player and an elite playmaker and we should at least have the grace to give him a full season with the Habs before crapping on him.

    :clap::clap::clap::clap:

  10. On the other hand, some of those teams are only below us because Halak beat them. If he had lost to them, they would be 8 points above us in the standings! I believe Halak is 8 for 8 against teams below us in the standing, and 4-6 against teams above us. So it is not as cut and dried as "exclusively used on against bad teams.

Halak has also played against a few top teams like Calgary, but I agree it helps his win percentage to play teams we should beat. I personally never look at the win percentages in comparing goalies, I view that as a team stat first and foremost.

That said, Halak wins the games he should win, while we have lost games to some of these bad teams with Price in net. Why can't Price win against these teams more readily? How about because he was not playing very well for about the first 6 weeks of the season! He is certainly playing better now, but his stats reflect the entire season.

People talk about more offensive support for Halak. I agree it is puzzling. I watch every game so I do not agree with the statistic business of "he plays weak team, hence our goals and his wins". There is so much parity in the league right now that you can play a good team and cruise to victory if they take a night off, or get hammered by a weak team if they are pushing and you take the night off.

I have seem Halak win us games where the other team (despite the standings), has severely outplayed us and if not for Halak, we lose. Simple as that. I have also noticed that our team is wiling to play a more wide open style with Halak in net, resulting in more goals, and more shots for the opponents. It is possible this is because the team has more confidence in Halak to bail them out, but it is also possible that it is a coaching strategy against better teams. Ie.. we are playing Pitts, so let's play the trap / defensive system. Oh its Toronto, go deep boys!

At the end of the day, based on the play, I would say Halak is playing very well, just as good as Price. Both of them are playing better then Price did in October, early November. Right now, we should be happy we have two strong goalies and stop this campaign some are waging to diminish the accomplishments of Halak for the sake of making Price feel better. Price will defend his skills in the crease quite effectively.

i agree with what you say for the most part..but i beleive halak is being shopped and thats means his being showcase..no way to better showcase a good goalie then by getting him to play the team we should beat..it just makes common sense..not taking anything away some halak because his been great for us..

  11. This is what I like to hear.

Imo, sign Pleks however you can, I've always like him, he's effective. What are the numbers that have been floating around for salary? 4mil? 5mil?

Hammer and Gomez are making that... and imo Pleks is more effective than both. I know the past and future matters... but the present is always the best indicator for the players.

On another note, whats up with the AK SK trade talk? Did SK really ask to be traded? Again, only my opinion but I would keep 'em around. The team is a lot younger and sometimes you've got to let the team build a foundation from the inside rather than bringing in other players. On defense Subban is going to be awesome. Sign Begeron if possible too. Hammer, Spaceman and Laraque is how much in salary? 8mil-11mil?

yea he asked for a trade..thats old news..his not going to stay with the habs to be a fouth line player..if we dont trade him his going to the khl

  12. I said it: skating. Chipchura didnt get a break either. But look how Dago gets chances after chances despite not doing anything. He skates well. That's pretty much the only reason one can think of. Martin can't work with slow forwards. That's why you never see Laraque past the 1st period.

well chipchura(who i love)just couldnt make the team with martin as coach but with guy also..like roy said with lats first made it to the nhl if he wasnt french he wouldnt of been with the team..i think he was right and that hurt lats developiment he was move from the fouth line to the first line with the habs as a young player and i dont think he learn his role..a great third line player, good second line player..he though he was a first liner and when he didnt get that playing time he got a bad attitude about it..i hope him all the best but lats for pouliot you cant pass on that trade..

laraque is the worst player on this team and should be in the ahl..he cant score, cant pass, cant skate, wont fight...he is useless..that why you never see him pass the first period..

  13. Next to Markov, Plex is our best player. He will not be going anywhere unless a knock out offer comes back. Unless something drastically changes, we will not make the play-offs. Look for us to sell unless we move up considerably and have chance to do some damage in play-offs.

plex as been our best player for half a season...................the guys good but,i need more before you give this guy big money for long term.....
