  1. I am in the camp that you don't toss away picks for nothing. If this is the value of a 2nd round pick, then why trade Huet to get one in a year where you have a legit shot at going deep.

This doesn't make or break PG as a GM, but it is not a good start, imo. This is the kind of move that does nothing but reduce our options at the deadline. We no longer have a 2nd round pick to package up for a real boost to the team. Unless he makes some more moves, this is just a trade for the sake of a trade, but we come out with one less asset.

i totally agree...i cant c how this helps the team......

  2. It means NOTHING except a trade of a possible prospect for a player currently in the NHL.

I dont like this trade, i dont think it made us better and i dont really see the need for him..so i think its a waste of a pick..his not going to help us get any closer to the playoffs..he didnt help T.O get there or flo...i think we should of just went with the guys we had and maybe try to use the pick as part of a different deal now or in the off season..

I just dont think it was a smart move as of now...

  3. I'm not referring to the players. I'm referring to the media - most of who are solidly behind halak, as well as the fans. Who will be on Price any time he let's in a weak goal - we've seen how well he has dealt with that before.

i agree with you..if halak gets moved the dumb fans well blame price...so that why i think if they plan to move halak they would bring back a vet goalie in the deal or the habs just say that halak asked for a trade and what to much money and might go to the khl and i aslo think fans could lived with that

  4. you would think if this was part of something bigger it would be done right after this trade was made????

unless we are just taking the word of another gm or we are making a trade with a team that is playing tonight..

    Dallas ,Calgary

    Edmonton , Los Angeles

  5. Andrei Kostitsyn LW/RW

    DOB: Feb 03, 1985

    Age: 25

Place of Birth: Novopolotsk, USSR (now Belarus)

    HT: 6-0 WT: 208

    Shoots: L

    NHL Seasons: 4

Drafted by Montreal in 2003 (1/10).

    Alexander Frolov LW/RW

    DOB: Jun 19, 1982

    Age: 27

Place of Birth: Moscow, USSR (now Russia)

    HT: 6-2 WT: 204

    Shoots: R

    NHL Seasons: 6

Drafted by Los Angeles in 2000 (1/20

I could see making this trade if Kostitsyn really dont what to play in montreal or if you think he well go to shit when and if his brother is trade and if you have a inside inf on Frolov and he love to play in montreal.

but i dont think we trade Frolov for Kostitsyn so at least for the rest of this year we would have both guys and can judge what to do next season after the year is over...

  6. I would love to see Frolov with us, but if it's going to cost us a young player at the deadline, I would rather try to hook him in the summer. I mean, it would make sense for him to want to come here since Cammy is here.

    Frolov - Pleks - Cams

    Kostitsyn - Gomez - Gionta

Now that is a top 2 lines you could see on any contending team. I know right now we don't have the money to sign both Pleks and Frolov so something like this could only happen we shed some major money.

Plus, a 3rd line of Pouliot, Desharnais and Sergei would probably be able to produce a fair amount of goals.

yea but i think pouliot well be on a line with gomez/gionta and kostitsyn well be moved to fit in frolov...

  7. I think that the rumours around Frolov are more "fans wishes" than other thing. I'm sure if you enter Frolov in HW's forums search engine you'll find "rumours" dating back to 2003. I for one would love to see him here and would give both K brothers for him. Would love to see him alongside Cammalleri and Plekanec (+Markov at the point)

i dont know much about or seen him play much but if he and mike are buddies it could be a good move but then we would need to sign both him and plex and it would cost about 5 mil a year for 4 year for each guy i would think..

  8. Do you think we can expect this style of hockey from now on, or is this just a flash in the pan? This type of hockey was exciting and fast paced, and didn't seem like the JM style. Maybe he's turned a corner and now see's that the team make up cannot foster his defensive style.

the only thing that i could think is he changes his game plan depending on the team we are playing..but i agree i think the way we played last night works better for the players we have...its time to take the leash of and let these guys fly..

  9. Can someone start a goaltenting thread so the rest of us can read posts not about the goalies. Man is that old. Price wins you bitch, Price loses you bitch.

i agree its hard to get into a game thread or what to read it when most of it is just about the goalies...

i just find it funny that ever game that is won or lose is base on the goalies play..try to keep in mind that its a team sport..if this keeps up in montreal if i was a goalie i would never sign a deal to play here..its a bit sad really..

  10. Patrick Caisse reported on his blog last night of a rumored deal in the works between the Montreal Canadiens and LA Kings, which reportedly would see Kings winger Alex Frolov shipped to Montreal depending upon whether or not the Kings could land an experienced forward. Caisse speculates either Carolina's Ray Whitney or Atlanta's Slava Kozlov might be of interest to the Kings. He had no word on what the return from the Habs might be but suggested winger Max Pacioretty's name has appeared in recent rumors although the Kings would want more in return.

SPECTOR'S NOTE: Frolov to the Canadiens has been in the rumor mill since last fall. Take this one for what it's worth, folks. We know the Kings tried to land Whitney but that deal fell through over his contract demands. Kozlov was recently a healthy scratch for the Thra
