  1. First of all I agree with you about Cherry and the CBC announcers, frankly the broadcast is really poor and the only bright spot is the satelite hotstove which is good for some fun rumours and Kelly Hrudey is ok too. I watch the French version most of the time.

Two disappointing losses in a row, a pity :( hope we recover fast

    :ghg:

  2. Even Toronto is in the minus 20s regularly these days and to think up until new years day we had several days in the +5 to +10 range then it all fell to the -20s

Changes in the weather are so drastic :?-

  3. You just gave me an idea, see the result :o

    From Washington Capitals:

    R Jaromir Jagr - $11.00M

    Total: 11.00 million

    From Montreal Canadiens:

    G Jose Theodore - $5.50M

    G Mathieu Garon - $1.00M

    R Donald Audette - $3.00M

    D Stephane Quintal - $1.50M

    Total: 11.00 million

  4. I got this for Koivu

    From Montreal Canadiens:

    C Chad Kilger - $0.80M

    D Andrei Markov - $1.30M

    C Saku Koivu - $4.25M

    Total: 6.35 million

    From Los Angeles Kings:

    L Luc Robitaille - $1.15M

    D Mattias Norstrom - $4.50M

    C Jonathan Sim - $0.45M

    Total: 6.10 million

    sure I'll take that....NOT

  5. I think the cards are sort of on the table but they don't get outside the room.

For example the Comrie deal I am sure many players were aware of it through their agents but no one was talking publicly so there is no reason for the players not to trust GM as far as trade rumours go.

There is a public face (to the media, fans...) and there is stuff going on in private

  6. I rather not have him back, we need highly skilled scorers and those are unlikely to be available for cheap.

At this point I consider Tucker more like a Domi type than anything else and that kind of leadership I rather do without, for everytime he stands up for teammates he gets 2 silly penalties. In other words not worth it IMHO.

  7. I haven't been really impressed by some quotes I have seen and heard from him, maybe its just me but sometimes he doesn't say stuff a typical captain might say of a losing streak or such. I don't have exact quotes in front of me but I remember several to the effect of 'we can't do it...'

That is not to say I don't like Saku, I am just not as convinced as I was in the past.

  8. Agreed with almost all said here, as always it will take lots of guts to go with something like an all youth lineup. I would be the first to applaud an effort to get rid of all the older and useless guys and build for the future, not just say it but actually build.

Bigger forwards has been talked about forever, it would be wrong to sacrifice many prospects for a bigger lineup and not many of the older guys can get a decent and big forward in a trade. I am afraid Gainey is stuck in the same situation as his predecessors on that one.

  9. Obvious comments mostly but like you say good that he is doing these and is not afraid to comment on Koivu for example.

Frankly if Koivu and Zednick don't come finish closer to a point per game we'll end up with a top 5 pick in next years draft.

  10. Consistency is key if you ask me, too many players have one or two good games and then disappear for a few games.

Some of it has to do with youth too but for example is Ryder the player that scores and assists on all our goals or the one that disappears?

If the youth pan out we have lots of potential, maybe 2 players away or more but the youth must come through because I don't see our payroll getting any higher, with or without a change in the labour situation.
