  1. I was just at a goalie camp in the Toronto area and Jason Missian was an instructor there. The guy is huge, in his butterfly he is as big as me standing in my stance. He needs some work, dont get me wrong he is good. but he is in very good hands as far as goalie coaching goes (Jon Elkin). He is a quiet guy. I watched all of his training sessions with Jon Elkin this week, he did well. He is a straight up butterfly goalie. This guy is going to be good, you have to see him to grasp how big he is. For the moment he is backing up another jon Elkin trained goalie Trevor Cann, who is sick....

  2. I liked the older one better, thats not saying i dont like the new one. Its just that the new one, its kinda hard to see what is going on the mask. It took me awhile to see what it was on his mask last night. His new one is still very nice though, I like the Backplate with the full Slovakian flag. i just liked the old one more.

  3. I would say Plante or Tretiak as the best. Roy was hot and cold. As an example, I watched the RDS show about the Canadiens 1993 season. I had forgotten that most people wanted Roy traded that year. One guy even took out a billboard (!!!) saying "trade Roy" in French. Of course, all that changed after the 3rd game of the playoffs against the Nordiques. Roy had blown cold most of the year and for the first 2 games against the Nords. Then suddenly, as he was apt to do during his entire career, he got hot, and stayed hot for the rest of the playoffs.

I can think of other times when he wasn't so hot. Remember the unscreened winning goal from outside the blue line in the 7th game against the Bruins? ('92 or '91 - one of those years). How about his "guaranteed win" against Detroit when they scored 6 goals against him? Also he was rarely chosen for Team Canada and there was a reason the hockey minds had for that. Too up and down. Too hot and cold.

These things didn't happen with Plante, and Tretiak, well those Russian teams weren't too good on defense, but dynamite on offense. They depended on Tretiak to keep them in the game. I can remember one game against Canada, where we outshot them 20-3 or something like that in the first period, and were losing the game 1-0! We ended up losing by a big score.

Maybe I'll give the nod to Plante as Tretiak did have a bad year - the year the US won Olympic Gold (the "miracle on ice"). Tretiak wasn't the goalie in the US game because apparently, he wasn't playing well that year. I can remember a game in the forum during the twilight of Plante's career. It was against the Soviets. It was before the '72 series and our team was made up of juniors and minor league pros. We won the game 1-0, even though most of the game was played in our zone. The thing that stands up most in memory for me from that game, was near the end, when the Soviet players between faceoffs, were talking to each other, while looking down the ice at Plante. I'm not exaggerating when I say they were in awe.

This is about habs goalies. Although Tretiak was absolutely amazing.

Patrick Roy was the greatest goalie in habs history, in my opinion.

I'm not making any predictions, but if they make it to the second round, why not the third? Who's going to stop them?

Looking at the standings now, I'm confident that the habs can beat any of the other teams, the only team that scares me are the Penguins. They have good goaltending and an amazing offense.

  5. He should have been in the butterfly, what is this new half knee BS?

The goal was prices fault, but no he had almost no time to read that and yes.... he was "asleep". He was dragging that leg acrcos with him to follow the play and never expected the shot, not very many goalies would expect that shot, its also a backhand making it near impossible to read. If he had time to read the shot he should've gone into the butterfly, he shouldnt of already been down in the butterfly cause if campbell roofed it it would have been even more embarrassing. The one leg down or the "vh" doesnt fit into Price's normal style but is more of a thing you would see from joseph. He wasnt ready for it, simple as that.

I'm expecting for Halak to start next game?

  6. Good bye Huet, you were my favourite goaltender for so long. My best memory of Huet was the first time i saw him play during the Sens in the 06 season. I went crazy, i was wondering why they were playing him against the best team in the league (sens in 06). I actually called my dad up and was mad that they were starting him. After that night i loved him, that first season we had him was like a dream, i will never forget that season. Good luck to Huet in Washington, they're a good team. We knew it was coming (just not his soon ). so good bye Cristobal Huet, the man who save our 06 season. Im going to miss those games where he would play out of his mind and have like 46-48 shots and just be so calm.

  7. Link

WOW! I was just looking at desjardins stats and was blown away, he seemed to be a top ECHL goaltender. The call up to Hamilton will bring his game to a new level.

The Depth of the Montreal's goaltenders is mind blowing...... Price, Halak, Danis and now this guy!! Cant wait to see what he can do in the AHL.

  8. Did everyone miss Dipietro dropping the F-bomb?

The All-Star skill comp was...... decent at best. My favourite event was the Young Stars game, no one was playing defense but there were some really cool plays and nice shots. I also liked the hardest shot comp, but thats the same every year.

The Creative shootout thing was...... boring, i was expecting some cool stuff, Ovechkin came up big but everyone else kinda sucked. It was a major let down.

  9. Please state the basis for your steroids statement. Others have told you? You have seen the test results? Because you think it has to be that way? You really do not know but was making a statement? All of the above?

    Here

"Morrissette also suggests steroids are common in hockey, even though he claims never to have seen the muscle-building drugs used by his teammates.

“You don’t do anything in the locker room,” he told CBC Newsworld. “It’s taboo.”

But Morrissette does admit he used steroids to bolster his chances of earning a spot in the NHL. "

  10. Winnipeg doesn't need to be exposed to hockey, they had an NHL team for over 2 decades. Winnipeg Jets, remember them?

Funny you speak of the jets, im wearing a Jets shirt right now?

By expose i meant, bring hockey to a town that is craving hockey/ NHL. Give them a little taste of the chocolate..... ^_^

  11. Ugh, I can't make it through a freaking game. I asked my friend's brother to stop downloading while I play, I get disconnected, go over to his CPU and he's still downloading with half the stinking bandwith.

Are you the obi wan person?

I was trying to play someone today and they're was so much loading and stuff and we couldn't connect. I dint end up playing cause my game just froze. We tried to play like 8 times.

  12. I'm really undecided on this issue.

I'm aware that Hockey is a rough sport and that it involves contact and aggressiveness, But do you really need to fight back? I like the term "take it like a bitch" ^_^

    THE IDEA

We really dont need and enforcer if we just played hockey. Some guy delivers a dirty hit, dont drop the gloves just crush him later in the game. Someone tries to pick a fight, just skate away. Instead of filling cap space with a goon thats gonna play 2-4 shifts a night and produce about 1-3 goals the entire season is not to bright sounding. We should use that room to fill up with someone more valuable, save some cash. Just take the pain and deliver it later in the game with a legal hit. In my opinon, goons are detrimental to the team.

I'm really not sure how it is to be on the ice in the NHL, if you can just skate away or if someone challenges you have to drop, but i seriously doubt the latter. But seriously who cares what other teams call the team, who cares if they call our player pussy, the league would begin to see a pattern that if you mess with us, (snow the goalie, dirty hit... etc.) that your gonna pay for it latter in the game by getting rocked. I know in the league that i play in you can just skate away from a fight, people will call you a pussy and much more but fighting gets the team in the dirt most cases.

Disclaimer: I love the physical aspect of hockey, the bench clears and such, The good ol' days where guys used to pound each other for fun, but if you want to win, i think my idea is right on. When the other teams are filling bench space with a goon, we can fill it with a decent sniper, playmaker, some one who can deliver bone crunching hits, etc....
