  1. I am watching the game on NHL Centre Ice online, but I have an s-video out to my 42"Panasonic plasma...

The picture isn't terrible and the streaming with standard high speed internet isn't choppy at all, and I am also downloading 7 files as we speak.

I am impressed but still anxious for RDS HD to hit Starchoice...

I too am glad that the team is still pushing, they can totally beat this team!

    Bring it boys!

I agree...considering our lineup, we are doing quite well! But considering this might be the last games I can watch all year, I hope they win!

  2. I hope they let Huey play the rest of the game...we might actually come back in this one...don't need a cold goalie right now.

On another note...despite being in the UK right now, I am getting this game on NHL Center ICe online....hope they don't block these games out once the reg season starts. My stupid slingbox isn't working and RDS won't be playing these games online this season. I really hope center ice works for me for rest of the season!

  3. yeah, I'm having a hard time with that one too...

Its not just garth that I am upset about...The habs need to replace Begin too. Sorry to say, but Lapierre basically is an upgrade on Begin as well. So by that logic, Lapierre should replace Begin and Milroy should take Murray's spot. Our third and fourth line should be:

    Kostopolous - Smolinski - Lats

    Lapierre - Chips - Milroy

Murray can easily be waived or bought out. I think we could probably package Begin, although his 1 mil salary would be hard to swallow for his limited upside. I really have nothing against Begin, but guys like him will never be more than fourth line. I think the fourth line should be an 'NHL tryout' line for up and coming youngsters. It would also help teach them defensive responsibility. Enough of this 'grinder line' full of career fourth liners. Look at buffalo! They can literally threaten with all four lines. We wont achieve that with Murray and Begin anchoring our fourth line.

  4. Hmmm, strange that my cable listing lineup only has the 2 Pens games and that's it. What URL do we follow to watch stream online or is it just a matter of going to rds . ca and winging it?

Are the other 6 games online? Help :)

I am assuming that the games will be available online when the regular season commenses in October (also in conjunction with the launch of RDS HD). All I can say is that now that I am living here in the UK, I could not be happier about the availability of the games Online. WOOT! GHG!

  5. My biggest worry is that the vertigo was actually his wonky knee. You always have to give him the benefit of the doubt. Once again, the off season has provided him with rehab. Not playing in the World Championships has allowed him more time off as well. I have no doubt that his ego is hurt. Not just by Montreal but also being shunned by his country. Kovalev should want to get back into that form. Let's hope he is itching right now to make his critics take a flying leap. There's many reasons to believe that he has the tools and the reasons to make an impact this year

Less of a wonky knee...more of him taking himself out of the roster cuz he was pissed. NOT a classy move at all. That said...this is hockey, if he produces consistantly next season, I will cheer him. If he acts like a primadonna, then he can go to hell.

  6. Great! Now that I decide to move to the UK RDS finally decides to catchup to the 21st century! Dammit!!

On another note, does anybody have a slingbox? Is it any good? I was thinking of getting one so I can still watch the games while I am in the UK, but I don't want to spend 170$ for something that may be crap.

  7. Grabovski reminds me of Ovechkin. The way he plays a lights out, fireball style. What he doesn't possess is Ovechkin's aggressiveness and possibly his finish either. I know Grabovski is great at creating chances but I haven't seem him finish too many of them.

Grabs is also tiny compared to AO. I REALLY like this kid, saw him play against the rangers this year. The skated so fast the Rangers D were all like: "what the hell was that? Marek, did you see a 12 year old zip by or was that my imagination??". The problem with Grabs is not so much about his size, but more to do with his resilience. He will be injured almost every season. But if he can start finishing those brilliant chances he creates, the Habs may decide that 50 games a season from this kid is worth more than bringing on someone else. Here is hoping!

  8. Don't let the door...well, you know...

Actually I liked him early in the season when he carried this team until Huey could get into form. But man, did he ever drop the ball when he was asked to take the #1 full time! Its ok tho, not every goalie can handle Montreal. Lets hope Price and Halak know how to deal with the pressure (long term).

  9. Streit is an extremely useful player. But I thought he was overused at times last season: he did time on the first line, etc. - as for him 'proving' Carbo's system, well, frankly, I'd rather that Carbo had gotten the most out of a proven offensive talent like Samsonov than a middling talent like Streit, and I found the fact that he didn't decidedly disturbing. In my view Streit is the kind of player that bad teams give tons of ice time to.

Having said all that, he's a good versatile mid-range player, comes cheap, and may still be on the upwards arc of a learning curve. I like the guy...I just worry that Carbo overrates him, that's all.

    Agreed...

That said, I really didn't like him in his first season, thought he was too much of a liability. Last season however, he really shocked me. 500% improvement, totally adapted to the NA style of playing. I agree that he shouldn't have been tried ont he first line, but that had more to do with Carbo sending a message to lazy players than actually expecting him to put up first line numbers.
