  2. I agree Wamsley,

I have always hated that the leafs are presented as the "canadian" team. that pisses me off, not only because our club is called the canadiens, or that we have the nations colors, but that the leafs have straight up NOT been the best canadian team. Now I'm man enough to admit since '93 the habs havent been anything to write home about either, but the flames and other western teams deserve some more attention too. i live in toronto (unfortunately) and have to listen to this hockey central at noon bulls**t and all the other leafs propaganda, but now after this season, the media is really houndin' em. Long live the habs!

    GO :hlogo: GO!

Yes, the LEAFS are THE Canadian team! The're part of Our Heritage! See... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrDzBHlm1_g

  3. 30% body fat doesn't make you fat. It's rare to see a pro hockey player in that shape but it's very possible to be very athletic and in good shape at 30%.

I'm not the kind of guy who has an "I know it all" attitude. But I must squarely disagree on that one: there is no way one can be "very athletic" with 30% bodyfat.

    See:

Sorry BTH, I had bad day and felt like proving someone wrong, nothing against you. I always read your posts with interest.

  4. I don't think he would be able to play if he was 30% body fat ... at least the NHL level. He'd pass out after two or three shifts.

Yeah, 30% fat is A LOT. Even if he was benched alot in Mtl, he was still practicing with the team. That makes it nearly impossible to got up to 30% bodyfat.

I weight 190. Three years ago I was injured and didn't do any physical activities for over a year. I went up to 215 and was still under 30% BF. Sammy might be fat, but he can't be near 30%.

  5. I don't buy any of this "Ribs wouldn't do this in Montreal" stuff. He did it. If Pleks is so great (and I like Pleks, I just think he is a third line center), then wake me when he matches Ribs in points.

I have no problem with Gainey trading Ribs, I just think he did it very poorly and at the wrong time. It was obvious (at least to me) in that training camp before he was traded that he was playing better, harder, and more disciplined hockey. He was drinking the Gainey coolade and was maturing as a person. Theo and Dags were gone, two huge distractions. Lots of young players have been clubbing, etc, but grow out of it. I firmly believe that Ribs would have been doing very well for the Habs and could have been traded in December for much more then we got for him.

People have an irrational hatred for Ribs, imo. Be objective and realistic. He is getting older, more focused, and this "new NHL" is much more suited to his game. The Habs style of play suits him. On the radio today they were talking about how well he controls the play in Dallas and isn't afraid to get hit. They consider him an outright steal.

Good for him, I never thought he deserved all the Habfan hatred he got. In fact, he gets so much BS on these forums, I have started to cheer for him. (not against the Habs of course. :) ).

  6. yup. Basically he's playing well right now, but I think he's one of the guys you won't see in a Habs uni for too much longer. If we can't trade him cuz his contract's too big, we certainly won't be resigning him. THose who keep track of this stuff, how much longer does he have on his current deal?

Bouillon is under contract until the end of the 2008-09 season.

With Markov, Komi, Hammer, Streit that will certainly stick with the club for the years to come and O'Byrne, Valentenko, McDonnah, Fisher, Subban, Carle that will fight for the remaining three spots, I don't think there will be a place for aging Bouillon.

But as a 6th D, he's doing a good job. He throws his short but thick body all over and drops the gloves when required.

    I agree he's a little overpaid tho.

  7. Price is starting?

Why? He hasn't played badly but Huet hasn't lost in a while and has had full rest. Weird move

    Yeah weird move...

...but Carbo probably wants Huet in the net against Philly and doesn't want to send Price against Toronto on a Saturday night (hence HNIC) for a first start in Mtl...

Huet has 7 stats and Price 3. On a 82 games season that makes 57 starts for Huet, which is ok for him. He can't play 65-70 like Luongo & Brodeur...

  8. According to Radio-Canada, Grabs was back on the third line this morning and AK46 was on the fourth with Bégin, Kosto and Chips...

Are they gonna screw up with AK like with Perez?

Do they think that Grabs has more potential than AK?

Are they showing Grabs as a trade bait?

    I'm confused.

AK had a very bad game just before being cut for 3 games in a row, but I thought that he wasn't bad against the pens, considering he played only 10 minutes with smokes and Dandy...

    Any thoughts?

  9. That is bizarre because Denis Savard recently said in an interview with Mathias Brunet that Samsonov was playing well and was one of his best forwards. He said he was creating chances and working hard despite not being able to put up some numbers just yet.

I partly watched the Chcago @ Toronto game last week and thought that Smmy played some pretty good hockey. He controlled to puck for like 15-20 seconds in the attacking zone before making a great pass that ended in Toronto's net!

  10. Full face mask would not prevent concussions, but would prevent Berard- and Koivu-like injuries.

The problem is that players don't even like half (quarter!) visors...

But players are obliged to play with fullface until junior or NCAA, so they're used to it. It'd be possible to eventually simply not allow to remove the fullface when they become pro. A "grandfather clause" would be necessary tho, like they did when for the helmet

The "downsides" of fullfaces are less fights and no more 4 minutes highstick penalties :P

  11. Wow lil' #### is on fire! 1G-3A this afternoon! He now has 12 points in 9 games and is 4th scorer in the AHL!

Surprisingly, he's better than his older brother at the same age.

"Surprisingly" because he was drafted 7th round, not 10th overall like his brother.

I don't know who is the habs' scout in Belarus, but he's doing a great job! AK46 might be a little disappointing so far for a 10th overall, but Grabs as a 5th and SK as a 7th rounder are very very nice picks!

I still hope to see AK46 develop as a top line forward, but the lil' one seems bound to be a good NHLer!
