  1. I think this may not be a purely carbo decision to start price tonight. I'm pretty sure it could be about the sidney vs price thing, who's prospect is better. Which in fact may have been a thin that Gainey really wanted to happen. I like that Huet's getting the start on saturday though I thought he's played really well save for the last period and ot against toronto

  2. i like the optimism, but i see the habs in 7th maybe, more realistically 8th or 9th. I think the chemistry with this team needs to get perfect, they have the makings to be great for sure, but hopefully this year there will be no speaking out against the team or coach, i was a little worried when bobby chose price over guy's head but doesnt look to serious

  3. Ok, about souray. I have to be honest, last year i was ALL about him, that shoot out goal on raycroft was amazing. However in retrospect (post hammer aquisition) I cant say I miss him. His powerplay goals were key to the minimum success that habs had last year, but if our 5 on 5 play was better than i dont think that the powerplay success would have been so necessary. 5 on 5 is where i definitely do not miss souray. one on one with guys he was weak, he let spezza and crosby and a number of other players walk around him with ease, and he commited a number of mistakes.

In Edmonton, he'll do the same thing, it happened in his first pre season game there, gave up the puck which resulted in a goal, then he scored on the powerplay with his bomb. For the habs I see a much better 5 on 5 game this year, hopefully if everyone on the team works their tail off like they actually want to win a cup. Our defense is going to be a + this year with Komi, Markov, Hammer, and O'bryne(?) not to mention Streit who is absolutely killing it this pre-season.

SO all in all, yea Souray was a good thing for the team, leadership wise and offensively, but I think ultimately we're better off without him, and hopefully can replicate the first half of last years season for the entirety of this season(fingers crossed) pending another epidemic lol.

  4. Price won't start, but likely will finish the year in Montreal. Huet will be moved by deadline IF Price is ready

As for waivers, Price is entering his first season as a pro, so waivers is not an issue. He can be brought up or sent down at will.

Waivers have to be cleared whenever call up or send down a player with I believe 2 seasons as a pro. I maybe mistaken on the time, but Price is for sure safe this year.

I think after that almost 3rd period collapse vs bruins they are looking at halak more closely

  5. What gets my goat is that people are calling gainey out for this move, that really isnt that bad and is pretty cheap. Brisebois up until 2001 was a solid D man for the habs, i believe he's the top ten on the all time Habs D man list? according to TSN. Anyway regardless, the most important factor of this trade is the Brisebois has won a cup, IN MONTREAL. and not only did he win it here, he won it with muller and Carbo. We need people on the team who can lead with the absense of Rivet and Souray.

All i have to say i suppose is for people to lay off this move, it's not that bad, things can only improve, and stop acting like annoying brat fans that players state are the reason that montreal is a crappy city to play for. SUPPORT

  6. Just read Eklund's blog. IS this too good to be true? a star player who apparantly wants to be in montreal? i must be dreaming. I say that its time for everyone to stop obsessing over the game in the states, accept that a cold sport wont go over well in the south, the players should realize that if they want to play in a passionate city it's going to have to be up here in the great white north (or a few select american cities). If eklund is right for once in saying that vinny wants to be in montreal then that's a good sign for hockey. Gary bettmen and his cronies are anti-canadian and can't accept that the game will grow the best in the country that loves it the most. Our dollar is just about as good as the american dollar, there is a lot of money to be made here. it's time for the canadian teams, the CBC and the fans to start voicing their opinions about the subject. BRING ON VINNY
