  1. I just want to put this out there ... if Buffalo does get CSB'd again can we for the sake of the team / league and possibly new GM ... we CSB them non-goaltenders. or have Seb or somebody pick for that team

Really should be if a GM is a no-show and has not appointed a proxy or sent a picklist, it's CSB as per HWL rules, which should apply to all teams or else we will have others saying "why'd you CSB me but not him" and so on. But that said, personally I have no problem if the Bufallo 2nd R CSB picks are skaters not goalies as they got a goalie in the 1st R. So yeah contradicting myself a bit hehehe.

  2. Edm confirms

We imagine Trizz's GF is a fine young filly, sorry if we implied otherwise and sorry to him as well.

Moving up in a draft is thrilling! We very much hope no GM will notice Raphael Perrier until pick #63 comes up.

  3. A few thoughts:

I considered suggesting tying a particular team's season-end point total to their salary cap, Eg 100pts gets a $50m cap, 80pts gets a $40m salary cap down to a $35m minimum. This goes against the NHL's fixed cap, but it would reflect a realistic relationship between performance / income / budget, and thus encourage middle of the pack teams to win more in order to earn more money to spend on players the following season.

But I guess a counter argument is that this scheme would benefit strong teams and make it harder for low-ranking teams to sign high-priced vets to bolster their rosters. Not that so many low-ranking GMs are signing vets as it is . . .

A problem I see is that in reality, fans like their teams to be competitive, so even GMs of low-ranking teams do sign vets to try and put a little pizzazz into their product, to fill seats and sell jerseys and make money so on. That aspect of GM-ing is not reflected in our league. How could we make that happen? We basically ignore EHM's "cash" side, could that be changed?

Finally, I applaud Pheonix, who late in the season traded for Poti to take a run at the playoffs, a tactic that didn't cost them so much (Semenov), and almost worked. Too many other teams didn't make a serious push. But look at Dallas, it is clear that once in the playoffs, even the 8th seed has a chance to win. I know that the game rewards playoff teams by allowing them to bid on UFAs, is there something more we can do along these lines?

Revvv might be on the right track.

  4. YES! Too many loooong-term rebuilds with no incentive to win and rise in the standings. Reward teams that make the playoffs and punish those that finish low. In real life a last place team often fires their GM . . .

  5. really???

i've been a Christian all my life (parents, grandparents ... u get the jist) and never known any Christian to be superstitious of '13'. perhaps it was just my circles, perhaps it is more about Catholicism than Christianity - but - i guess i had always thought of superstitions to be pagan (lucky & unlucky numbers, black cats, unmanned ladders & all that crap).

Judas at the last supper, thirteenth at the table. In Japan, "4" is the unlucky number (some buildings have no 4th floor, or rooms with "4")

  6. with what offensive talent ??

he's a great 3rd liner but he hasn't enough talent to play Offensive too often.

Maybe not, but maybe yes . . . why not give Lapierre a shot on the 2nd line, he's young and has some size and he's getting better every year, has guts and decent hands and, well, I like the look in his eyes hehehe.

  7. Habs retire so many numbers, that's why our current players have higher numbers than most other teams. Of #1-#10, seven are no longer available. Now, having retired a total of 14 numbers in 100 years, we can project, if retirement continues at the same rate, that in the year 2525 (if man is still alive), they may find all Habs players wearing three-digit numbers.

HWL Stanley Cup comes to Asia for the first time yeah! (the cunning game six lines did not fail hehehe)

They were hard series, back from 0-3 against St-Louis, all the way to seven vs Anaheim, a strong challenge from the Cinderella Stars . . . then it was relatively smooth sailing, just had to go through the Canes -- but they played hard for an Eastern team! Their husbands must be very proud!

Thanks to KD, Stream, Andrew, Revvv and all the other HWL GMs -- see you next season Oil loses only one player to retirement so we mean to repeat!!!

  9. Komi played about 21 minutes a night for us. Mara is more of an 18 minute guy. He'll help, though. It's going to be more of a shutdown committee than relying so much on Komi like we did last year.

It should be noted that Mara may be 29 right now, but he's an old 29... he turns 30 before the start of the year. He probably isn't getting any better as a d-man at this point, he is what he is, and knows his limitations. He's figured out his role, and that's a good thing.

    hehehe "...an old 29".
