  1. Because the news isn't necessary when it's 4 months old? We know who retired, what options we needed to pick up, who showed up to came with too many Big Macs in their system, etc. If you really want to keep your news over the season, could you not just copy/paste it into Word? Is that so much of an inconvenience? 30 seconds to copy/paste (1 time only) to make some people's lives easier... When I start scrolling through a team's news page, it gets redundant after seeing, "So and so is frustrated with their role in the organization" after the 6th or so time.

See, you wouldn't be able to scroll through a team's news page if we reset the news :P

  2. to simmer: It is true the 48 hour tiime limit had expired on Heino but just regard it as EDM re-waived him (there's not limit on putting nhl or ahl player on waivers), because that's what we did. So, 1) Edm waives and Heino clears. 2) Edm demotes Heino 3) Waives him again and again, waving him like a RDS banner at a Saturday night game; 4) CGY finally claims Heino. 5) Revvv wakes up.

    thx

  3. For the record the Stanley Cup Champion Oil GM does not aspire to the position of Commish -- although I remain willing to participate in some sort of "Council of Elders," which could number five or seven active GMs who would be responsive to all GMs' concerns and proposals, and address such eventualities through internal discussion and consensus-seeking. (We could have a "Greener" on the Council of Elders, who would be the one to go out for beer and smokes.)

The Stanley Cup Champion Oil supports FP's idea above which is a lot like the "Council of Elders" proposal, nice and diffuse -- obviously a single Commish becomes a lightning rod, we didn't have this recent conflict and division when our loyal and dedicated core was simply taking care of business, we got through the playoffs, draft, UFA period, preseason and waiverdraft relatively smoothly -- hooray!

    Viva HWL :hockey:

  5. GM's/Scouts on the farm determine the calibre of fast-signed players, that's about it really.

The Edmonton Roadrunners scouts sit in the equipment room smoking joints, drinking fanta and eating pepperoni pizzas.

We also like the limit of one NHL head coach and three NHL assistants.

 If both bids are rejected, then who owns the team? Didn't the previous owner declared bankruptcy?

Yeah Jean that's a new wrinkle for sure... Sounds like maybe the judge is giving himself some room.

Habs fans -- remember next time you pay $500 bucks to take your family to a game, you're helping subsidize Bettman's stubborn power trip. These are difficult economic times and the league can't afford to turn down an offer that will take ice hockey out of this desert sinkhole for chrissakes. Hope the judge makes a sensible decision and spells it out so Bettman won't try to tie up the move in appeals. Hamilton - Toronto would be a great rivalry, as the testimony went it's expected Hamilton could be 5th most-profitable franchise in the league. (Next maybe Nashville goes to Quebec City?)

    Go Jim Go!

  7. Yeah Seb seems the right decision and I'm delighted you are staying on as a GM, looking forward to some competition in the NW (for a change). As for the next Commish we seem to have learned to function with people who have experience getting consensus and doing what needs to be done, so I'm not too worried, we just have to keep an eye on Charlemagne . . .
