  1. I've noticed the last two days that my activity level on the forum has been higher than the last few weeks. Why, you might ask?

It's because I have so much work to do. I've found the busier I am, the more time I fool around on HW.

    Interesting.

    Let's see:

    Richardson

    Foote (IR)

    Berard

    Westcott

    Suchy

    Tollefsen

    Johnson

    Hulse

    Hainsey

    Klesla (IR)

Look for Tollefsen to be returned to the AHL. When Foote returns, look for Richardson to be moved, as he recently stepped down as captain and seems fed up with the organization. When Klesla returns, it's between Johnson and Hainsey as to who goes down. Johnson is probably better, but does not need to pass waivers.

  3. What Columbus needs is a new coach. They have enough good players to be in contention for a low playoff spot. They simply are not getting production from these players. I blame this on the coach. He constantly changes lines, even in the middle of games. How does he expect his team to gain any consistency if they have different lines every night?

That being said, Huselius might be a good addition to the team. A 2nd line of Huselius-Brule-Fritsche sounds good to me. Plus, the team never has the same players for too long, so I wouldn't be suprised at all to see him in a Jackets jersey.

However, since they picked up Hainsey, do they now get placed on the bottom of the priority list?

For sure. When Colorado visited Columbus, the announcers were talking about how he was so stressed in Montreal that his mother cried because she hated seeing him so down on himself. If anyone is to blame for Breezer leaving, it is the fans. It was their constant harrassment that drove him away. He was the last player left from the '93 Cup team too.

In the new NHL, Bonk has struggled, and the elite GMs (ie. in Ottawa) saw this coming.  My point remains: there must be a reason  Ottawa was willing to give up Bonk for nothing.

That is an asinine comment. Ottawa traded Bonk long before the "new NHL" was formed. They traded him under the old rules and the old CBA. Who knew that the changes under the CBA would be as dramatic as they were? Nobody. Heck, if the lockout hadn't wiped out a whole season, a lot of these changes likely would not have been made.

  6. Come on, Delmore couldn't even make the Jackets!

Still, he's better than anything we have down in the minors.

I forgot about him since he's hurt. He finally seemed to be setling into a decent player in the few games he played this season.

Damn, I miss one game and this happens? I watched the Notre Dame game on Saturday instead of the Jackets game. I had no idea he took the C of his sweater.

I think the problem is Gerard Gallant. The team has plenty of offensive talent, they should be doing a lot better than they are. Their D is still weak, but with the way their goalies play most of the time, they should have a much better record. Sure, Nash is hurt, but they still have a lot of players who are capable of scoring. They are the underachievers of the NHL.

They've drafted good kids over the last few years too. Nash, Zherdev, LeClaire, Fritsche, Picard, Brule. These guys are going to be good NHLers. The problem is just like the Canadiens though, not much depth on D. Outside of Aaron Johnson (and maybe Ole Tollefsen) they don't have any young talent on D.

I doubt Columbus will take him. Andy Delmore is already sitting in the minors for the Jackets. They've currently got Foote, Berard, Suchy, Westcott, Hulse, Tollefson, and Johnson on the NHL squad, with Klesla on IR. Also down in Syracuse they have Andy Delmore. Hainsey might make the team over Tollefsen, but that's it. And if they already have Delmore, why would they take on Hainsey, another offensive D-man who isn't really NHL worthy?

As for Pittsburgh, I don't think Hainsey is better than Brooks Orpik, who just became the team's 7th D-man when Tarnstrom returned to the lineup.

Because as deep as we are in forward prospects, we are that shallow on defence. This is why I was rather surprised that the team didn't trade back a few pick in the draft to select Staal or one of the other good D prospects. Komi is really our only good, young D-man, unless Hainsey finally gets his act together.

Maca... well let's just say that Kerp coming to the league didn't help his weed problem...

So Hannes is left alone to sim. I've heard some Rookies, who are also member of an evil triumvate club med are willing to help simming...

And isn't it possible that one of the rookies might have been chosen to do this sim, to get experience before the actual season starts?

All I'm saying is that it was a possibility that one of the new commishes might be doing the sim and got a late start than Hannes usually does. I did noticed David B doing a lot of work on it late last night.
