  1. I am so glad I found out about this site. When people argue, they fight the other person's postion without attacking the other person. On the ESPN boards, you can't go more than 10 posts without somebody calling somebody else a dumbass or something like that. Even in the lounge in the political arguments, nobody calls me an idiot when their view differs from mine. They simply counter me and state the facts. I appreciate that greatly.

  2. Are O'Neill and Hedican really worth a solid LW, and top prospect, and a first round pick? Doesn't seem like it to me, and I don't even like Hossa that much. He has not done well in the NHL. But then again, it took Ribs a long time to develop. I just don't like this trade that much. We've already shipped a prospect and 2 draft picks.

  3. The Nazis were controlling most of Europe when the US got involved in the war. It is possible that the Allies could have prevailed, but it was not looking good. The US entering the war was the turning point. Therefore I have to say that US involvement in the conflict helped end Nazism. I did not claim that the US did it alone, notice I worded it "American involvement in conflict."

I am aware that US materials were used to kill Kurds, but how is that Bush's fault? I am not aware of Bush being oil-partners with bin Laden. I do recall the US aiding Afgahnistan when communist Russia invaded, but I know nothing abot a relationship between Bush and bin Laden.

And about the "you're with us or you're with the terrorists" statement. I agree that is sounds absurd, I think his writers just worded it poorly. The point he was trying to get across was that if you do not support a crackdown on terrorism, then that is as good as supporting terrorism. It's the same argument as if you see some bully picking on a little kid and you just walk by. You personally didn't do anything wrong, but you didn't help either.

Now that it is clear that Kerry will win the Democratic nomination, I will have to sit down and research him. I honestly do not know very much about him at this point, except that I am glad it is him and not Howard Dean.

  4. There is still no proof that Bush went AWOL. He has provided numerous documets that support that he did not go AWOL. And although many can't say for sure if they remember him or not, don't you think somebody would take notice that the son of a rich man and growing political power was missing?

And if you liked Clinton, just remember how honorable he was. Lying under oath, smoking pot, draft dodging.

  5. I do not believe that Bush lied. All evidence at the time indicated that Saddam had WMDs. It was bad intelligence, not a lie by Bush. Plus I am sure he had time to somehow sneak any weapons he had out of the country. I even heard reports that France had helped Iraq acquire nuclear materials, but they downplayed that a lot. (Why would a right-wing media downlplay such an accusation?) There has also been some evidence that Al-Qaeda had contacted Iraq and were in cohorts. Anyway, it may not be better yet, but Iraq will be a better place without Saddam. He was a brutal dictator who HAS used chemical and biological weapons on his own people. Most Iraqis are happy he is gone. Those who are not are confused because they have been under his power for so long. These are the ones who are still resisting.

And about Clinton, he lied under oath. It does not matter that he lied about something trivial, he still lied. Many presidents have had affairs like him, but none lied about it under oath. Bush may have lied, but thought he was telling the truth, plus it was not under oath. There is a big difference.

And in response to some of the previous references to American History:

Wasn't it American involvement in conflict that ended Nazism, facism, and communism in numerous nations?

    And is response to oil:

Has the US taken over the oil in Iraq? No, the Iraqis control their own oil. Have US gas prices dropped? No, I'm still paying about the same for gas as I did last year.

And don't you think that people such as the Kurds feel a lot safer with Saddam out of power?

  6. That would be a huge relief. Even though he hasn't been on the team long, losing him for an extended period would surely deflate the team's moral. They've got to be on a high with management showing a dedication to winning and being in a playoff spot. Hopefully everything will turn out all right.

  7. So far my best is 602.5. One of my friends managed 650.3.

My best individual score was a 98.

These games are so dumb, yet so fun and addictive. Now I can't wait for the rest to come out, haha.

  8. I think NHL 2004 is the best hockey game I have ever played. It is by far the most realistic. The gameplay just feels great after you get used to the new controls. I just wish the speed on regular was as fast as it is for online play. Roster updates would be nice, but it's still better than any other EA hockey game I've played.

  9. I've been seeing rumors all day that we got Brendan Witt. Does anyone have any proof that it is true? One report said we gave up our 2005 2nd rounder and a player to be named. That sounded very unlikely, since that is the same thing we gave up for Kovalev. I wouldn't mind getting a physical, stay at home D man like Witt, but not for that price.

  10. Damn laffs got Leetch. The Rangers acquired defenseman Maxim Kondratiev, forward Jarkko Immonen, a first-round pick in this year's draft and a second-round choice in the 2005 second-round selection. The Maple Leafs also received a conditional pick.

Nedved and Markkanen to the Oilers. Rangers received Dwight Helminen, goaltender Stephen Valiquette and a second-round pick in the upcoming draft.

  11. I'm happy as long as we don't trade away all our young talent like we did 6-7 years ago. We traded away good kids for washed up vets. Still, I like this deal because I am sure Gainey won't be giving up our future like the old regime did.

  12. Passing New Jersey would be nice, just for the pleasure of passing a team that's been so successful in recent years. Hopefully we can finish strong and make a move in the playoffs. Beating playoff caliber teams like the Sharks would be nice too.

I hope some kind of deal gets done, nothing too big that gives away young talent, but something to help us now. I want a playoff run before the lockout.
