  1. No to the Vezina/Hart combo. That will jack his next contract into the $5.5-6M range. Been there done that with Theo.

Runner up for Vezina is good enough. He can win those meaningless awards when he is locked up long term.

    you're too funny Wams.

I guess you have a point but its a thread about being positive..

    damn

even in a fairy tale scenario you still find a way to say we'd be getting a raw deal?

the trophies are only meaningless because Habs players never win them.....

  2. It was dirty and it is unimportant what anybody else thinks.

    bang on!

But this is Hockey. A glorious, fast-paced, dangerous game that isn't fair in the slightest. Its why we love to hate it and why we can never fully turn away.

Its times like this as a fan that make the good times that much sweeter..

Its why grown men cry when they hoist the cup.

Damn I should really be writing Tim Horton's commercials...

  3. Well since we're being positive:

    please god above, let us:

    Beat Boston in Round one

Beat the Capitals in Round two

Beat the Flyers in the Conference Final

Beat the Canucks at home in 7 games to win the Cup

have Gary Bettman present the Conn Smythe trophy to Max Pacioretty at the Bell Center

I promise I will never ask anything from you again oh Lord..

although if you could arrange for Carey Price to win the Hart and the Vezina trophies that would be just swell..

  4. Darche will have a great game again tonight and Cammalleri will continue to miss the one-timers that used to be his bread and butter.

Look for Pouliot to get back into the play tonight too.

I was talking to him at hot yoga this morning and he is ready make magic happen and end his slump/

    Habs win 5-3

  5. I'll believe it when I see it. :)

I'm not convinced he's actually coming back in the playoffs, and if he does, he'll probably be rusty and timid for a while even if it turns out he isn't permanently damaged - especially since the first round of the playoffs is likely to be against the Bruins. I bet Chara would love to finish the job.

I'm currently looking up some recipes for you...

How do you like your crow?

  6. I didn't want to mention it before it was a done deal, but I've been doing some leg work behind the scenes.

I'm pretty sure I have Mike Macphee, Stephan Lebeau and Shayne Corson all agreeing to come back play on a line for us.

Just wanted to throw it out there and see if there was any interest?

    let me know.

Mike needs at least 7 days notice to get out of his gig at Futureshop.

  7. UPDATE:

    Talked to Max this afternoon.

He wanted me to tell everyone on the forum that he hopes to be back sometime during the playoffs.

He's trying to convince the doctors to let him participate in a light skate at the end of this week!

This is the kind of guy you'd want in a foxhole with you.

    A heart of a giant!

He seems to be in good spirits also, I asked him about Chara and he calmly said:

'Hate the game, not the player" then slyly whispered "haters gonna hate"

Ok, maybe this didn't happen exactly as described but,

    Don't sell this kid short...

and I'll promise not to say I told you so..

  8. Ron MacLean is the best thing that ever happened to Hockey Night in Canada since the invention of video. You're calling him dumb? I think he just got way too politically correct in order to prove a point. Cut the guy some slack. He is perpetually working beside one of the biggest chauvinist hack the industry. How the man has remained broadcasting for so long is a testament to his professionalism and true love for the sport.

  9. Don't get me wrong, i think you guys are making A LOT of sense. but lets quit feeling so sorry for ourselves...

what else are you going to do watch Desperate housewives with your wife?

Max will be back in the second round of the playoffs and we'll have our day in the sun.

my pipe dream for the day?

    Canuks - Habs final.

Gary Bettman has to present us the cup in the Bell Center

Dare to dream, Karma is a fickle mistress

  10. I agree with you guys, hockey has changed in the last couple days for me too.

I am so confused right now that I don't trust the NHL or even the players (because enough of them are not speaking out)

Maybe I'm losing it but, I am starting to think this whole incident is fishy..

it almost has a WWE wrestling vibe.

'did' Max jump into the glass to make a huge scene and he's not as near death as everyone thinks.

If you suspend Chara and then Max plays next week it looks like he was faking the whole thing.

    but I digress...

if anyone is going to recover quickly its Patches. That kid got a slapshot in the ribs and played the next game! Dude has Tiger blood.

  11. The Great Dane is coming out of his shell, and everything confidence gives

to a talented player is a big + for this team.

At some point i wished he would find a scoring stride in the minors

but he learned a lot, on the how to play in the NHL in these 50 games.

I wish they keep this line with AK and Moen.

His success is around the net AND it'S the biggest line i have seen in a long while.

    Keep it up kid.

yeah you're right. Those 3 are all big bodies. In a couple years Eller might be 20 pounds heavier too?

  12. Its frustrating because we were all over them trying to get more fancy ones against Halak but after they scored a couple 'working mans goals' we gave up.

Not a real surprise. I think all the guys are a little drained physically and emotionally right now.

Christ the've just won a bunch in a row. And had their team mate nearly decapitated right in front of them...

let it go. at least we didn't give points to an Eastern Conference team.

We had some great moments and some stupid lapses of consciousness (and poor officiating)

Lets get prepared for a big game against the Pens

  13. What is ironic is that they have threatened to cut spending to the CBC, which harbors Ignatia's cronies. Do you think Ignatia wants to cut spending to the CBC? Not!

The proposed cuts to the CBC make up only 1% of their operating budget. I don't think its as big and issue as you make it out to be,

  14. Here's what I just e-mailed to Air Canada. I encourage everyone to do likewise.

According to media reports, your company is threatening to withdraw its sponsorship of the NHL unless the league takes immediate action regarding irresponsible hits to the head of the kind we witnessed in Montreal on March 8. I strongly commend Air Canada's courageous and principled stand in defence of the integrity of our national game and the fundamental safety of NHL players. This is an absolutely outstanding example of corporate leadership. My family and I wish to thank you for this and urge you to stand by this position.

    Hear Hear!

    what is their email address?

  15. I think playing Tuukka Rask last game is an insight into the psychotic mind of Claude Julien.

    talk about intent?

The whole organization of the Bruins are bullies and have no class

The NHL is like the crooked school superintendent

the poor Habs are the slack jawed, droopy eyed students, who can't stand up to them.

It makes me sad for Hockey when I hear a Father say he is seriously thinking of not putting his child in Hockey now..
