Yeah, Laich is locked up for 6 years at 4.5 or 4.75 depending on the sources.
Gomer is here, we keep his salary, i don't think there will be a trade that would include any good return.
I still believe he will have a come back year of some kind
-
So Montreal is picking puck moving defense men,,, I like this a lot
-
I'm on the bandwagon of don't touch him with a 10 foot pole. His best role is as a 3rd line two-way centre, at least in my opinion. He also is very streaky offensively. Down the stretch (March 1st to the end of the playoffs), he had 4 goals in 28 games. He also had a 3 goal in 29 games stretch earlier in the season. He isn't the offensive solution and is nowhere worth the 4+ million people are suggesting. Someone will give it to him, I just hope it's not the Habs.
A streaky player that dies at important parts of the season really isn't a great solution...
I mean, Gomez's salary is one of the most ridiculous in the NHL if not the most.... but anyone else think he is going to have a much better season this year?
I believe he will head into this season with the objective of proving all the haters wrong, he probably (i only say probably to be nice) won't put up the numbers to earn his salary, I really do think he will be a much better player next year though.

It would be a shame too lose a promising young goaltender to the KHL...
-
I really like the scouting report on him, I'm all for some more puck moving defense men, who like the physical aspect and are used to winning.
The downside of emotions affecting his decision making, that could correct with more maturity plus, whats wrong with a little passion.

we currently have the 17th pick
no 2nd
our own 3rd at 78th
Anaheim's 4th at 113th
our own 5th at 138th
our own 6th at 168th
and our own 7th at 198th
With the third think Xavier Ouellet will still be kicking around?
I would love too get him
-
Bonne Jenner anyone? By all accounts a work horse... Seems like a prospect that would in no way go bust. (plus Canadian, sorry I'm tired of American picks even if they are from Minnesota).
-
Who would you pick up to score 40 goals of the available players?
-
We all know that there will be some form of injuries, no team can escape that, so another important factor if a major piece goes down would be the back up.
Would Aaron be ready? or another bulldog come up and play too the level we saw Decharnais and Pacoretty play this season?
I know Engvist is ready and may make the team as like another Darche or Pyatt or something, but if Plecky goes down, think we will have someone who has real deal offensive talent who could help the habs?
Obviously this will be easily answered once the next season starts and see who makes the best advances in the off season.
-
I really hope that deal doesnt pan out...

Wouldn't it be great if we got Talbot, I'd love to see him in a habs jersey.

I think it's highly uninformed to assume that Canada is going to be governed by "the religious Western Canada"...in fact, I think it most likley the Conservatives stay pretty moderate and centrist.
I think you would be hard pressed to really prove such a ridiculous comment. The opposition parties (all of them) tried to vilify the Conservatives...
Layton is a con-man and scam artist... If anyone cares to look deep in the NDP charter, their candidates and the fringe elements that carry a lot of weight in the party...I think you'd be very scared. In fact, they scare me more then the a lot of other parties...including the Bloc (and I despise the separatist cause).
Some points to make here.
By Religious Western Canada governing Canada we could always look at Steven Harper... the religious Westerner.. The Alliance Church, to which Harper has belonged for decades, believes Jesus Christ will return to Earth in an apocalypse, won't ordain women, strongly opposes abortion and divorce, condemns homosexuality as the most base of sins and believes those who aren't born-again are "lost."
I love how Conservatives say things like "the opposition parties try to vilify the conservatives... and then say stuff like "Layton is a con-man and scam artist"... then talks about how evil the left is...
I would like to know how Jack is a con-man. That is a ridiculous comment... considering Steven Harper took over 2 million dollars for a secret government run media station... aka propaganda... I do believe that falls under jurisdiction of fascism... add that too all the cuts to activist groups... I think that the oppression of freedom of speech is a little scarier then some extra money for people who are having a rough go of things.

I am expecting a lot from him coming back off that injury. He has the confidence now and he seems by all accounts extremely determined.
-
They were both injured, Georges especially could have it brought lower. I do not think 2.5 is out of the question.
-
Ballard can certainly be had from the Cup champs - Vigneault, somewhat unfairly at face value, seems to have it in for him and they're paying well over $4 mil for a benchwarmer. Whether they'd accept Spacek in return is a whole other question. But I'm pretty sure Ballard could slot in very effectively as top-4 defenceman for us. And didn't Martin coach him in Florida? Hmmm.
That would be a great trade for us ha!
I cringed equally as much with Ballard and his mistakes as Spacek this year
Only Ballard will have some kind of future
-
I really like that Montreal seems to be making an effort to sign local players, even though many Quebec players are scared of the pressure in Montreal (or are ex Nordique fans )
-
Will the Canucks win in 6?
I think it will be a very close game!
-
What do you think his chances are with the big club in the next 2 years?
-
They also have the 7th overall pick this year, sold what... 5 years worth of sell outs and 13,000 season tickets in four minutes... I think they are off to a great start
Any idea if they will be playing in the North-West or South-East Division? I remember hearing something about having a schedule made for them to play in the SE division.... is that true?
-
Love it, the more Canadian teams the better I say.
Plus Atlanta was showing signs of a team on the rise so Winnipeg has its hands on a pretty decent team, with Bogosian, Kane, Enstrom and Buf even Little and Pavlec it looks like a pretty solid outfit.
About the name, I think it would be insanity to change it to anything other then the jets, so they must be hung up on "The Manitoba Jets" or "The Winnipeg Jets"
All in all I hope they do great!
-
His entire cap hit would still count against the cap, that's how bad the option is.
Damn... that sucks, could we bury him in Hamilton?
-
the crimp in your plan is that Spacek is going nowhere, Martin seems to like him and nobody else in the NHL wants him. I also would not sign Wiz to 5 mill, just not worth it, and I think PG is going to agree with me. I like Wiz but he will want top 4 money for a 5th or 6th d. We will do just fine with out him. We need a big centre, I know hard to find but it is what we need. AK46 just does not seem to be able to blossom in montreal and needs a new home, We should work on getting him one.
How bad would it be to buyout Spacek?
Wiz is worth five in my mind, he is young enough that he will progress defensively, he could learn from Gill or Markov plus Martin is known as a defensive coach. If he improved defensively it would be a great deal.
Lars Eller isn't exactly small either.

FORWARDS

Tom Pyatt ($0.500m) / David Desharnais ($0.750m) / Ryan White ($0.850m)
Andreas Engqvist ($0.900m)
DEFENSEMEN
Josh Gorges ($3.500m) / Andrei Markov ($5.750m)
Hal Gill ($2.250m) / P.K. Subban ($0.875m)
James Wisniewski ($5.000m) / Alexei Yemelin ($0.984m)
Yannick Weber ($0.875m)
GOALTENDERS
Carey Price ($2.750m) / Brian Boucher ($0.925m)
BUYOUTS: Georges Laraque ($0.500m)
OTHER: Pouliot can be traded for the best offer
Spacek anything possible to get rid of him
I don't pretend to know much, but I signed Scottie Upshall, always nice too add a 20 goal scorer.
I personally really like Pyatt, Desharnais and White so I would like them on the team, plus Engqvist by all accounts seems ready for the NHL so he could replace any of the three.
Boucher, if we could get him, I think would be a great mentor for Price.
Fire Away!
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $2,337,824

When I saw that deal happen I was stunned... Elliott has never been a starter and Anderson had a great season the year before and I didn't think deserved to be traded at all!
