  1. Watched Bozon's game against the Vancouver Giants last week. Really skilled, makes his own space, goes to the front of the net (almost scored one of the goals that game but the guy infront of him deflected it first). Couple other things. While someone should tell him what finishing a check means... he is sneaky along the boards, doesn't "fight" for the puck but just kinda picks it out from guys feet and skates away with it. Solid game for him but all in all I believe he only got the one assist.

  2. It looks like re-alignment is back in the plans for next season using a similar format (2 divisions with 8, 2 with 7) to the one that was kiboshed by the NHLPA previously. A couple of teams are expected to be re-arranged from the previous idea but this is the division the Habs would have been in under the previous plan:

    Boston

    Buffalo

    Florida

    Montreal

    Ottawa

    Tampa Bay

    Toronto

If the league and the PA can work things out in the coming days, it could be ratified by the owners later this month.

Still completely hate this idea. Playoff system is awful. The only by product of the league change I see will be more tanking teams competing for picks because they can't compete against the couple big teams in their group. I like the idea of playing all the teams in the league... but now there are SO MANY more games that don't matter near as much because they aren't in your division and you aren't competing against them for a playoff spot.

This change makes zero hockey sense imo. Simply about money. This set up bothers me more then the lockout did.

  3. That was a tale of two periods - I really liked the effort in the first half but Boston was beginning to control the play towards the end. The speed game was working early on, let's hope the Habs can get that going again in the 2nd.

I think the kids need to be out on the ice more. Yes there was a few PP's for boston but Moen and Armstong shouldn't be getting more icetime then Gally2

  4. Spooner-Tardif-MacDermid

That's an expansion team 4th line. Moen-Armstrong-Eller are going to eat those chumps for breakfast. We have some very favorable line matchups tonight.

That is weak, we have no excuses tonight... they have two guys out (Savard doesnt' count at this point) and we are fresh.

  5. Honestly, we should consider when Colby Armstrong should go ahead and cheap shot a Bruin. Maybe clip Chara's knee tonight? It'll be worth the suspension. We have the depth ;)

Dude half our team would probably take out his knee with a bodycheck :P

Honestly I'm looking forward to Gallagher beating Chara in some board play :D

  6. Stock is being primed for Cherry's job. Has been for a while. The CBC staff love him. He's also good looking and has a "ham" personality so TV people tend to believe that's all you need to become a money drawing sports analyst.

Thankfully Kevin Weekes has been doing great on the Hotstove panel unlike his commentary work because he made Stock look like a complete idiot the other day. He's much more reserved and thinks on his feet and I think he'll be the type of guy to make people forget about Stock. Then again, Weekes doesn't rock the boat and CBC loves their "controversy" so again, Stock fits the Cherry/O'Leary mold.

Weekes has been awesome, I also like that he explains in game hockey things (like a random timbit about how Luongo's big feet make it hard to move to position) I never played hockey so those kinds of ins and outs are interesting to hear about.

  7. Considering how horrific the team was at home last year, this season's wins count as an improvement. That said, last year the Habs were 1-5-2 with 5 home games, vs 6-2 with 6 home games to start the season. Heck, they're nearly halfway to their home wins total of last season.

Can we all just forget about last season and move on with Galchenyuk in our new happy lives?

  8. I think we need to see how we match up against Boston before we get too cocky. Montreal has changed how they play. The league overall is playing a different style of game. We have remained relatively healthy. It remains to be seen how the changes in the game will affect our standing. Our "Achilles heal" or one of them has always been the depth after key injuries. I think some of our depth is a little suspect at least for this year.

I disagree. Our depth is a strong point this year. Moen is on the 4th line... last season didn't he get top 6 minutes at some point? Leblanc is in Hamilton, not doing well but probably will improve and a solid call up, we have Galchenyuk on the third and I'm sure he could move up if needed, Armstrong hasn't proved much but could be more then a 4th liner if the need arised (I'd say he is better then Darche at least), Eller hasn't been great but is an skilled young player who could play a top six role with a bit of improvement. We have depth on d... Overall I think depth, outside of goaltending, will only be an issue if rookie walls come up or some players go cold at the same time as injuries strike... course that would be an issue with any team.

  9. Question on canadiens.nhl.com Despite the shortened season, do you think Andrei Markov can still top his career high of 16 goals?

    • For sure.
      He's on fire!:37.76%
Probably not, 16 goals in 48 games is a lot.:17.24%
Doesn't matter as long as he stays healthy.: 45.00%

  10. We can't forget this is still Galy squared's first season. While Galyenchuck is potentially our #1 center for the future, I see nothing wrong with keeping him in a position to succeed. If we can establish 3 scoring lines, to me, it would be more beneficial to roll 3 lines on even shifts than to split the lines. Last season we had 1 line showing chemistry that was Wolvie - DD - Cole. This year, we have a bonafied first line in Bourque - Pleks - Gionta, a line we all wanted to succeed last year but due to injuries and attitudes, never really gelled. Having our best line last year being our worst line this year give a huge sense of optimism. Let's face it, Wolvie - DD - Cole were good last year, but Bourque - Pleks - Gionta are raising the bar. They are dominating other teams. At times today it looked as if Pleks was on an island, looked like Bourque was unstoppable, they made Gionta look like he wasn't our hardest worker. We all know how hard Gionta works every shift.

Barring major injuries, our biggest problem is our 4th line and backup goalie. Thats not something us hab fans have been able to say in a very very long time.

I see no issues with our forth line. Moen-White-Armstrong is a great energy line, excluding White's one game where he lost his discipline.

  11. Not a rumor... but I am wondering how much home ice is playing into the habs fast start. We are 4-1 at home and 1-1 on the road. Meanwhile teams like Philly who are "struggling" have are 2-1 at home and 1-5 on the road or Washington/Florida both 2-2 at home and both 0-3 on the road.
