1. To Ottawa:

    Radim Vrbata CON 75

    To Boston:

    Patrick Seguin CON 76

Boston confirms. 3 reasons for this deal: 1) Get younger 2) Save some cap space 3) Get a more balanced player

Losing an offensive threat like Vrbata sure isn't easy, but at his age, he's better off with a team that's closer to making the playoffs, like Ottawa. They have plenty of youth and Vrbata adds a lethal shot to their arsenal. Boston gets a good TW player who is signed at a good salary for the next 2 years, so this is a deal we like here in Beantown. Thanks to bbp for the easy negotiations.

  2. To Boston:

    WPG 2nd 2019

    WPG 3rd 2017

    To Winnipeg:

    Viktor Lindgren

Confirmed. Lindgren's salary needs to go, especially with Boston's reduced salary cap. Getting a 2nd, although it is on 2 years, is good enough...

  3. I don't even care one bit about the bilingual rule, if someone knows how to coach then hire them!! I would take a guy that speaks only chinese and have a translator next to him, as long as the W's pile up, who gives a damn!!! I hate the Montreal press and the fanbase that complains that the coach doesn't speak french...

  4. Planning to check out Terra Nova, Community and Castle, while catching up on Person of Interest during the winter break. Anyone got other suggestions? So u can tell which kinda shows I like, I watch Chuck, How I met Your Mother, Entourage and 24, so pretty much open to everything...

  5. our big problem is our lack of a genuine superstar up front...

we need to go after a huge superstar, I think Malkin might be available since, honestly, pittsburgh has so much depth at center, so send em plekanec, gionta/cammalleri, diaz/weber and a 1st for Malkin..

then, u have eller be ur 2nd center, DD as the 3rd center and ryan white as 4th when he comes back

I would see our lines like this:

    Pacioretty-Malkin-Cole

    Kostitsyn-Eller-Gionta/Cammalleri

    Leblanc-DD-Gomez

    Moen-White-Darche

    Markov-Subban

    Gorges-Gill

    Kaberle-Diaz-Weber

    Emelin

    Price

    Budaj

  6. Interesting news regarding Metal Gear Rising. Turns out the game was actually quietly cancelled by Kojima because, aside from the cutting dynamic, they couldn't figure out the rest of the game. Then some members from Platinum came in to visit, heard what happened, looked over what they already had and offered to finish up. Hence the re-title. Also it's apparently taking place after 4 instead of between 2 and 4 like originally planned.

I'm not too worried about this though, Platinum has worked on two of the best beat 'em ups this gen (MadWorld and Bayonetta) so this game is still in good hands.

Also a guy I know from another message board I go to who works for Wired wrote this doozy about the Spike VGA's. Great read.

    http://jasonschreier.../11/spike-vgas/

That guy deserves a medal, everything he has said is 100% true...I watched the awards and aside from the trailers and Miyamoto, it was rly bad

  7. I was crazy sick yesterday so I didn't see any of the VGA stuff but these were the trailers that were shown.

(A DLC follow up to Alan Wake, it is not Alan Wake 2 though like most people thought)

(I'd completely forgotten there was a first one. It came out 11 years ago, lol)

(just the game for the movie)

(This game is confirmed to come from Naughty Dog, some people have already found a reference in Uncharted 3)

(Sequel to War for Cybertron which was a great game if you're a Transformers fan)

(just an update on the original Tony Hawk game. I wasted many hours on that game when it first came out)

And no one knows for sure but the next Batman game might have been announced when The Joker won the award for Best Character.

    Possible Arkham City sequel?

The Last of Us: Being made by Naughty Dog = it will be a masterpiece

Alan Wake's American Nightmare: I have yet to beat the first one, gotta get to it soon

    Hitman: Absolution: Can't wait

    Fortnite: WTF???

Mass Effect 3: Might actually convince me to give the series a second chance (never had enough time on my hands to play such a game)

Rainbow Six: Patriots; Looked pretty awesome

    Spider-Man: Didin't look too bad

New Batman Title? wow that would be epic!!

Metal Gear Rising: The fact that they changed developpers -__- but still, it should be a good hack and slash game

  8. I don't see it as much of a gamble though. The worst case scenario just isn't that bad. So the Canadiens will have a bottom pairing d-man for 4.25M for a couple of years. The trade only looks risky if you stress about the cap implications two years from now.

You know who stresses about the salary cap? LOSERS.

You know who wins the Stanley Cup? Not losers.

That is my motto from now on. Despite all the frenzy over every signing and trade re: players getting overpaid and handcuffing us, I challenge people to name a single player we really wanted to keep that we had to let go of because we couldn't afford him at his market value. There were some (Komisarek, Streit, Wisniewski) that we wanted to keep but that wanted more money than we (almost everyone here) thought they were worth. Some of those decisions might have even been mistakes. There was Halak, who we traded because it wasn't sensible to pay him that much to be our back up (and other reasons). But there was never a case of a core player that we just had to get rid of so that we could keep our other core players.

It happened to other teams (Boston trading Kessel, Philly making all sorts of changes, maybe Buffalo and Ottawa) but only in extreme cases where teams carried several stars earning big money combined with albatross contracts, and their trades generally resulted in good returns consisting of high draft picks and blue chip prospects. By the time Montreal's up-and-coming stars get their market value, these contracts will be coming off the books or easier to move. There's just no sense in stressing over contracts when we have no idea what's going to happen over the next two years. Gauthier will make good trades, bad trades, big contracts will leave, big contracts will come, small contracts will leave, small contracts will go, the team will play well, they'll play poorly, individual players will play well, play poorly... The top teams think about the short term without making any obvious sacrifices to their long term plans (e.g. trading Pacioretty for Jagr).

Besides... Kaberle is coming off a 47 point season. It's too early to say he'll never be the player he once was. He's not like Gomez or Theodore, for who it's been several seasons now. He was a top pairing D last season! And currently on a hot streak.

    You, sir, deserve a medal!

  9. Right. I guess what's controversial about it is that this is during recess, where we think of people being able to talk to their friends however they want. In theory, this looks like a dictatorial overreach on the part of the school but in practice, I bet nothing will change. I went to a Jewish school where you had to wear a kippah. If you didn't wear one, the teacher told you to put it on. The next chance you got, it would be back in your pocket though and nothing bad would ever happen to you if you weren't wearing one. The language thing will probably be the same way.

"Did you hear that new Drake song?"

    *teacher comes*

    "Arrêtes de parler anglais!"

    "Je m'excuse."

    *teachers walks away*

    "So as I was saying..."

That being said, I don't think the law is necessary at all and I would prefer if it didn't exist.

My high school was Collège Regina Assumpta in Montreal, french high school founded by nuns, everytime we spoke english outside of english class, we would get screamed at...
