In my heart, I knew Max would not score. I didn't even get a bit excited on that break.
The Red Sea parted and Maxes fell face first into the dirt.

top line center apparently.
They better come out strong and score the next one or they are in deep trouble
It's the series. They'll lose in 6 if they drop this game. It's a shame, because they're a solid 2nd round team but they're in the 4/5 matchup.

Has anybody seen Phil Danault do a thing all series?
I don't think I've ever seen a playoff series as evenly matched as this one. You usually don't get this until the Final.

Man, that Emelin shot could have missed a soccer net.

Another penalty for Zuccarello.

Welcome back Emelin!

I'm putting a quarter on Pierre McGuire finally getting an undeserved GM job.
I hope not. I like his speaking gig on TSN690. He's really at home on radio with nobody to compete with and no Sidney Crosby to drool over. Nobody can see his phallic countenance, neither.

Testify, brotha!
Max sucking is on Max and Max alone. Show up, or ship out...the endless slew of excuses is getting tired in a hurry. 4 games of doing absolutely nothing is not gonna fly...get it together and contribute. Do you see many other 25-35+ goal scorer types sporting a donut this far into the playoffs?
Ovechkin: 3
Kessel: 1
Atkinson: 2
Oshie: 2
Matthews: 2
Hoffman: 2
Forsberg: 2
Arvidson: 1
Kadri: 1
Ect ect ect
I'm not asking him to be a hero the way Radulov has...but be a competent 1st line winger FFS...is that too much to ask?
If Max can do that, Radulov can do exactly what he's been doing thus far, line 2 can manufacture a goal, and our PP executes even one time for us...we should win tonight.
Monahan scored four games in row and his team lost all four games. Now, the Max apologists would say that shows goal scoring is not important, but players are getting in done. He'll have a good game in the next three. Let's hope it's tonight.
-
Bobby Ryan got another one tonight. That's three, even though the Bruins defense are shading him into Max's corner, the part of the rink farthest from the net. Whowouldathunkit! Goal scorers scoring goals in the playoffs! Wowza!

And in the playoffs the Rangers have put together a strategy to deny him the puck.
When you play three/four different teams in a week, its one thing. When you play the same team 7 times in two weeks (and have 3-4 days minimum to prepare for them before the start of the series), defenses get specialized. Danault is always open in this series cause no one is worried about Danault, and they are shading extra d towards Max. They've even given Radulov more room, and Radulov has taken advantage.
It must feel like a dumb broad defending an abusive boyfriend at this point. He's a vet now. Doesn't get it done in the playoffs*. Simple as that. It's not personal, or an indictment of his character, but the playoffs aren't his style of game. There are no dead zones for him.
Edit: Or for his country, per avatar

Max was fine the first three games, just couldn't finish. Still got 17 shots in 3 games.
He didn't look great tonight though.
That said, he doesn't have a centre who can get him the puck either, and thats always an issue.
He got 35 goals with the centers on the roster.
-
Still, 2-1 isn't a bad result considering.

Great play to end the game by Max. Gets the puck with 5 seconds left and loses the puck. They've got to get rid of him in the offseason.

5 icings in the last two minutes.
Reminds me of an old music joke: A band called Five Shuffles in a Row.

Pacs needs to be the difference. It isn't like he is playing great and snakebit... he looks out of it and lazy.
I don't think he's been close to a goal all series. You can find him in between the boards and the faceoff circles. They need a goal from him bad!

Low IQ N8 coughs it up to Rick Nash. They are officially out of their 9 lives.

They're really lucky to still be in the game after that period. I wonder how much the Rangers have left?
Good move switching up the lines. We didn't get to see Galchenyuk and Radulov together. King is surpassing useless. What does this guy do? Makes you wonder when a team in the playoff hunt trades one of their players.

He and Pacioretty must have taken the same sedative...
If he's been eating with King, it's probably (a whole) turkey dinner.

Rangers are running them out of the rink. Still down 1, which is a small miracle.
-
They should be down 4-1.
Edit: I posted this before Boone! (For those following HI/O)

Hopefully Pacioretty wakes up sometime soon
I wonder if they can get Wayne Simmonds for him?

Bingo. I don't know what the heat maps, or radar, or whatever printout from the computer says, but Max has been on the perimeter and utterly ineffectual the whole series. You have guys digging for the puck and going to the net every shift and he's floating around behind the play looking for his sweet spot like a frigging basketball player.
