  1. Pleks would be an excellent #2 center, maybe the best in the league. He could easily anchor the best second line in the league. With a strong first line (Patches/Carter/Cole) Bourque/Pleks/Gallagher would be a strong second line if Gallagher is ready, AK if he's not. The year Kovy/Pleks/AK did so well they started the season as second line and built confidence, then dominated as a first line. Any team thats going to make to to the playoffs needs a reliable second line, this year we don't even have a first line to designate a second line.

Bourque is a 3rd liner, too inconsistent/lazy to be a 2nd liner. Gallagher? 19 yr old smurf playing vs. teens, and you have him pegged for the 2nd line?. He couldn' t score in preseason though getting alot of time vs. other teams preseason squad. I'm far from sold on him.And AK? We're stuck with him, unfortunately. This is one of the most unlikeable and worst Habs team in my lifetime

  2. I swear if you take out any emotional attachments to the games it makes them easier to watch. Expect screw-ups, expect losses, and you won't be disappointed. They almost become entertaining.

My hopes for this team were so high. When we had trouble at first I kept thinking it was due to growing pains and that in a short time everything would click and everything would be fine....little did I know. I remember one of the writers from THN (Proteau?) put the Habs at 8th. The guy got roasted for it. Now we'd kill to be there.

That's a problem "Habs at 8th. The guy got roasted for it. Now we'd kill to be there".our goal was always to have a contender and make a cup run. It's been to "make the playoffs and anything can happen", for 10+ years. Unfortunately, with very few exception if you are not a top 3 seed, you don't win anything

  3. No I mean from the last few years, this team is one of the worst NHL teams. Columbus, Edmonton, the Islanders are obviously worse, but what takes the cake with these guys is the potential is there. Not much more potential, with injuries etc, than a bubble team, but for this team to be dead last in the East is an embarrasment. I'm also talking about the all important entertainment value. Columbus blows, but at least they fight. Same with the Islanders. These guys are soft, they forgot how to work a PP, they are dreadfully boring, they are disinterested, and they are underachievers. To me, that makes one of the worst NHL teams in years.

How are the Islanders obviously worse when they have more points than us,lol ?I'd rather have Edmontons roster and prospects than what we have. Columbus is worse. The 01 team had 70 pts in 80 games. We have 49 pts? in 53?Not much of a difference. This squad has had many gutless performances, like yesterdays. I don't remember that being the case back then, though i didn't see them enough

  4. Last night Cammalleri was on the 4th line with Jones and Kolanos.

    He is -5.

I thought it was a terrible trade for both teams. I would think he'll be moved at the deadline. His playoff performances for us will always leave a positive impression with me,as did Halak's and even Gill's and Gorges'.

  5. Seriously, you're now complaining about more injury callups? They only have so many viable options and when 5 of the top 13/14 forwards (Gionta, Moen, Nokelainen, White, and Blunden) are out of the lineup, the pickings no matter what are going to be slim.

Not complaining,I think it's a joke. We traded a 20 goal scorer for a minor league stiff. And yyou and your bunch continue to defend one of the worst managements in professional sports.

you do complain an awful lot man, you have been on here for less than a month, have like 200 posts, and i bet that 195 of them are just you bitching about something

And 90% of them are about this inept management that has turned this great franchise into a bottom feeder and laughingstock. Speaking of which,Jaro Halak gets his 5th shutout,is 12-1-3 in his last 16 with LESS goal support then Price.Who we traded for the proverbial bag of pucks

  6. I'm not getting the Bourque comment, he has 17 GOALS not points.

How much interest do you want him to show? He is playing with Pleks and Gomez. He is who he is, a 25-30 goal scorer with some grit, some speed and drives the net.

He has what 4 points in 5 or 6 games?

Why don't you pick on Pleks, Gomez, AK46 (only 12 goals)

Atleast Darche showed up and had a good game.

    15 goals 5 assists. 20 pts.

This team hasn't had many breaks this season. But it has also skilfully made the most out of every bad break it's had, finding new ways to lose practically every night it seems.

I don't find the hopelessness of this liberating at all. Sure, there's a lot of anxiety when your team is battling for something important, but that's where the fun is. I find the current state of affairs very boring, because nothing's at stake - like the preseason. Also, this team is a disgrace to the sweater and makes me vaguely ashamed to be a fan. In short, I often come out of games this season feeling like I need a shower.

It's good news that we now have a realistic shot at the #2 overall pick. That definitely puts you in franchise player territory. And that's about the only good news to come out of this disgusting season.

Note that whatever hope the high pick affords will be squandered if we do not assemble a good coaching/management team in the off-season. This will easily be the most important offseason since 2009. Bad decisions here could condemn us to another decade of mediocrity.

We haven't had any "breaks" in a long time. The excuse of a loing team, not a winning one

These guys are terrible, and to boot, I spent 179.99 to watch them on Center Ice, so I have to watch nearly every game. The only member on this team who provides consistent entertainment value is Alexei Emelin. If it weren't for him watching these guys would be a complete loss. No fighters, no flash, and nearly every player who isn't Emelin or on the DD line is underperforming. This is an embarrassment, especially for me, living in Boston. Rooting for picks now!

We are officially back to the Rejean Houle days.

Just think of the people that spend $200-$300+ per tix, especially considering some of the stinkers they've played

  7. I think everyone is movable. I think he is a #2 center in a #1 center role. Your asking him to do more than he is capable of. Given how hard it is to get a center in place, I would be reluctant to move him unless you were deep with ones and twos at that position.

Boones' a hack. Pleks is our best two way player imo.Being put in a #1 ctr role that he's not quite good enough for. Having an off year like many others.Entering his prime years

  8. Ha ha, that proposal must have been a joke.

You draft Price at #5 overall. So you're in effect trading your #5 pick for the #3 or 4 pick in this year's draft. Plus you're trading Gallagher, widely regarded as an elite prospect. That's not Pollock genius, it's more like Mike Milbury.

(In case this needs clarification, Sam Pollock's patented move was to trade veterans on the back-9 of their careers for top picks, NOT elite young goaltenders and high-end prospects for picks. Sheesh).

Spoken like a Price fan boy,not an objective fan. What have we won with Price since 05 ????? He has a below .500 record, including otl,he's 1-3 in playoff rounds and 8-15 total record. Gallagher is another smurf, playing with teenagers. He may be a keeper,or just another jr flash. We don't know. You're not getting a high lotto pick for Price alone. No way, unless Gainey takes over another team. Why can't you say he's being traded for the #1 pick,as that's the odds Columbus would have. Go with Budaj the rest of the way,and there's a good chance we get 2 of the 1st 3 picks

God I hope so. That's my Christmas wish this year.

To make me feel even better Santa, let Boston pick him up. If only.

Boston has a pretty good management.I predict Gomez is here next October, ready to atone for his bad seasons

  9. I find myself congenitally unable to say a bad word about Mr Bob Gainey.

And I'll repeat that Gauthier's year was trumped by the best medical opinion on Markov.

I share the disappointment but I don't need more victims.

I think that Gauthier did the right thing with the advice he was obviously given on Markov. He was the guy to keep and W, might not have stayed anyway.

    Too bad.

    Man proposes,

    Allah disposes.

We did ok w/o Markov last year. We did OK in 09-10 w 45 games of Markov and 7 in playoffs. I'd argue he was our 5th best dman in those playoffs. It's much, much more than Markov, and has been heading for this train wreck for awhile. I didn't like what I saw in September, but I never thought we'd see the worse Habs team in most of our lifetime. I had us pegged for 8th-9th battle

  10. You are right...we should sit on aging veterans until their value is nothing even though the team is not going to contend without some real help.

This team will never be Columbus or the Islanders simply because we can spend money. For that reason alone the comparison isn't really valid.

I'm saying, tear it apart to re-build the farm for 1-2 years...and I mean tear it apart to try and re-build with high end talent. Then, in 1.5 years, start some UFA signings to get back to that 8th seed. Then as the, hopefully high end, youth gets to breaking the big club you up the UFA ante and try to get to "contending" status. It HAS to be better then trying to slog through into the playoffs with a couple of 60 point players and a good goalie every year...jmho.

I can live with the Tank City Habs for a couple years if I knew there was a legit plan to rebuild. I just hate this mediocre BS that mirrors teams like the Leafs of the past 30 years...the "be just good enough to get the blind fans to spend money" concept of the team...you can put a lot of pro sports franchises in that boat. I don't want the Habs to continue in this position any more. As fans we need to start demanding a legit vision and plan and then hold the organization accountable to following it...even if it means short term pain for long term gain.

That's a great post. It can be done in 2 years. With competent management. We don't need the 4-5 yr tank job of Edm.,Pitt ,Wash etc

  11. Columbus are a cap team. The Rangers outspent everyone from 1997-2004 and missed the playoffs every year. The Leafs have been a cap team since the lockout with zero playoff appearances. The Oilers have been at or near the cap the past three years.

I'm hoping for a Philly in 2007 type rebound. One bad year where everyone got hurt with one high end prospect gotten through the draft as compensation and that's it.

We were more injured last year and still made the playoffs comfortably. Markov was never on the team this year,Gio was having an off year,White is a 4th liner who I really like, but not a difference maker.Other injuries have just been the normal few games here and there.

  12. Every day I open up the sports I almost pray to see that Gauthier AND Gainey are fired. Quite frankly I have lost all the good will and admiration I had for Gainey the player because of what he's done to this franchise. I have never been as disgusted and disappointed by any sports team in 40 years as I have with the 2011-2012 Canadiens. This team is built almost the exact opposite from the way he played. And with almost 40% of the cap tied up in unmovable garbage(Markov,Gomez,Gionta Kaberle),the near future is bleak. We have some nice d prospects, but they're 2 or 3 years away at best. Other than Pacs, the forwards all project to 3rd liners.

  13. Habs will be a playoff team next year.

Lets make a bet on that if you wish?

    Avatar control for 2 months?

    $100.00 ?

    Blood wager ?

And remember I am one of Commandants alter egos so you get to control all our avatars ..., ;)

I want them to make playoffs,I want them to win cup. I have bet alot in my life, not once against Habs.BTW I haven't bet NHL in years so I haven't lost anything on them, before you think it's why I'm so down on them.

There is a difference between an enforcer, and having a big tough team. I would like a big tough team, with skill. I don't think we need an enforcer who just fights...

    It explains all the injuries
