I wouldn't mind seeing Montreal signing Jagr, even at 41 he would still be able to provide size and he can still provide enough offense as well....also it may quiet down the Tomas Plekanec trade rumours atleast for a little while

Great signing by Montreal, hopefully now they can sign Stephan MaCauley, who is also participating in Montreals development camp and also played for Halifax this past year......both Fournier and MaCauley played great during the playoffs for Halifax and provided Halifax with quite a bit of secondary scoring behind Jonathan Drouin and Nathan McKinnin

Its unfortunate that things couldn't have turned out different for Yannick Weber....I thought the guy had a lot of potential when Montreal first drafted him and I was amazed that in his last year of Junior, he played in the OHL all star game and won the hardest shot competition with a 95 mph shot, pretty hard shot for a guy who at the time wasn't even 20 yet.....Since then though he has never once played a full schedule for Montreal and has slipped down a ways on Montreals depth chart, and this year he played in even less games then Kaberle.....Which ever team Weber ends up with, I hope he gets every opportunity to prove his worth

With the amount of times that he was a healthy scratch down the stretch I am kind of surprised that Montreal re-signed Drewiske but with that said when Drewiske did play I didn't find that he played that bad at all and with Emelin out for a while Montreal can probably use all the depth they can get

I'd love to move up high enough in the draft so we could have a chance at Max Domi, Bo Horvat or Kerby Rychel....Domi because he is small but tough just like Tie Domi and he can score......Horvat because he's already around 6 feet and 200 pounds and is a very good all around player....and Rychel is quite tough just like Warren Rychel and he can score as well, also Rychel trains with and is good friends with Hab prospect Brady Vail also of the Spitfires

Nygren's got a long way to go to get to Markov's level. Think of him as a bigger Yannick Weber at the moment (it's not a perfect comparison but it's probably the closest to any current Hab). Collberg has the bigger upside by a considerable margin at this point although both look to be quality prospects.
I agree with you, and it will take Nygren a few years to be in the same conversation as Markov, but Markov himself was known as a offensive defenseman and had to work really hard to become the two way defenseman he is now, With any luck Nygren can do the same

I can't wait to see both these guys in a Montreal uniform, especially Nygren....I definitely think he can replace Markov once Markovs current contract runs out....To Collbergs credit he has the potential to be a very good player as well, he's a very good shootout specialist

For me it has to be
1) Toronto - The Leafs are on top of my list, mainly because of Toronto fans...Usually if they lose a few in a row they'll blame the refs or injuries or anything else they can put the blame on, or if they actually win a few games they figure they are unbeatable and all of a sudden Stanley Cup Contenders...Also ever since Brian Burke had become GM a big part of their team is made up of goons
2) Boston - the Bruins would be alright but I can't stand players like Milan Lucic, and Brad Marchand who don't get me wrong are both very good hockey players but they are both known to be very dirty as well....I've also lost alot of respect for Zdeno Chara mainly for what he did to Pacioretty a couple of seasons back....also I can't stand Bruin fans either, especially after that game where we lost Alexei Emelin thanks to Lucic.....Bruin fans seemed to be pretty proud that Emelin got hurt even though they still ended up losing...and win or lose Bruin fans just love to see Boston win the physical battles
3) Ottawa - I think the rivalry has always been there between the Sens and Habs but I think after the playoff match up they just had against each other in the 1st round, that rivalry is going to intensify heading into next season
4) Pittsburgh - As good of a player as Crosby is, I just hate seeing him get the better of us in the regular season or playoffs
5) Toss up between New Jersey and Philadelphia....the Flyers because like the Leafs and Bruins the Flyers are bigger and have a tendency to play dirty....also the Devils because I hate seeing Brodeur getting the better of us plus my sister is a Devils fan

We won't know until the conference finals for sure. They tentatively sit 26th and can go no worse; they could possibly go as high as 23.

With Montreal being out of the playoffs now.....would anyone know which position Montreal would be drafting now in the first round

They're lacking in goalie prospects. This is a goalie prospect. That's about all there is to it. Mayer's leaving next season for the Swiss league so that leaves just Tokarski (RFA) and Delmas in the system.
and more then likely they'll lose Dustin Tokarski since he'll have to clear waivers.......so signing Condon is a start

First off I'm happy to see Tinordi getting another oppertunity with Montreal, hopefully he plays well tonight and gets another shot Saturday night against the Leafs...Montreal needs someone other then Prust in the line up who will not be afraid to stand up for someone like Gallagher who I noticed seemed to be Torontos target last time they played
I am also hoping you are right about the line combinations for tonight....everyone talks about how poorly Price has been lately and that our defence hasn't played that great either, but not many have took into consideration that our offence hasn't been that great either, especially since Bourque has got back into the line up...before Bourque came back Montreal was using Ryder on LW on the top line with Gionta and Plekanec and that line was nothing short of terrific and Ryder was scoring goal after goal, but since Bourque has come back they moved Ryder to RW and much like the rest of Montreals offence Ryder has been pretty quiet (other then picking up an assist here and an assist there)

I think the Jets should be an easy win as well....Montreals had their number all season long so far and the Jets have been running into some injury trouble as well which doesn't help their cause

I would love 4 them to re-sign Ryder.....wouldn't suprise me the way he's been going that he would be asking for 4.5 to 5 mil a year.....maybe if Montreal can go a round or two in the playoffs he'll see how much of a bright future the Habs have and decide to stay.......Another guy I wouldn't mind seeing Bergevin re-sign is Jeff Halpern, he has done alot of little things for Montreal, plus he's been big in the faceoff circle

I think a 4 year deal worth 3 to 4 million a season would be perfect for both sides....although he does try to do a bit to much in Montreals own end once in a while, Subban is (for the most part) still a good young defenseman already and is on verge of getting better and will be worth every penny

First of all, Kostitsyn is a 20 goal scorer who in the perfect situation can score 30 goals. Semin is a 30 goal scorer who in a perfect situation can score 40 goals. Semin's issue in Washington has been that he needs to play with a good center and Backstrom was hurt. I don't think Plekanec is as offensively skilled as Backstrom but on Plekanec's wing he'll score 30 goals easily, something Kostitsyn could never do with him.
The best part about Semin is that aside from last season which was career lows, Semin is usually handling a 15 per cent shooting percentage. That's very valuable.
I'd love to sign Semin after taking my blinders off on what his game is really like, but he has to drop his price.
Like I said I do like Semin, I honestly do.....but like I also said the guy is inconsistant, and u can say that Semin is that much better then Kostitsyn, but Kostitsyn has never had the pleasure of riding Alexander Ovechkins coat tails, it would be interesting to see what Semin can do without Ovie

Don't get me wrong, I like Alexander Semin, the guy is a great skater, has a great shot and when he is on his game he is alot of times the best player on the ice, but the only problem is, is the fact that he is inconsistant...much like Andrei Kostitsyn had been in his tenure with Montreal, so I'm not sure how much of an upgrade Semin would be over AK46....maybe if we miss out on Shane Doan, or a trade involving Bobby Ryan then ok, but I am not really sure Semin is the answer for Montreal, even if it is only for a year or two

I'm thrilled that he's back in Montreal.....I'm hoping he has a break out season this year, as he did at the World Championships......with guys like Alexei Emelin, PK Subban and a healthy Travis Moen (among others), Montreal is going to be very tough to play against

In a big way, I am disappointed that Bergevin didn't offer Darche a one year one way contract because 1) he has been one of Montreals best defensive forwards and penalty killers
2) he could chip in offensively and take on a top 6 role when needed (he scored 12 goals and 26 points in 2010/11 when Pacioretty was injured later on in the season) 3) It would have been nice to see Darche finish his career in Montreal
In a way though it might be a good move for both sides because Darche could find himself on a better team and in a better situation, while Bergrevin could fill Darches void with a young player like Palushaj, Dumont or Gallagher.....Also with Darche more then likely gone, Bergevin may re-sign (potential UFA) Staubitz, who along with White will make Montreal much bigger and tougher to play against much like last year when Staubitz was picked up on waivers by Montreal at the trade deadline

I think that this is a good signing, I think he came into his own in Hamilton and I think he did fairly well in Montreal when called upon, he is a pesky little player who I think could do well on Montreals third or fourth line....I'd go as far to say that I'd rather keep Dumont over Ryan White
