  1. The negativity is way overblown. People need to keep their perspective. This team is Markov-less, playing four games in six nights, riddled with flu, and played after getting in from Chicago at 3:00 AM without adequate prep. They also got ridiculously jobbed by the refs in one of the most egregious displays of amateurishness I've seen in years. And they won. For that, they are rewarded with baying fans declaring that this "proves" that they are a mediocre team.

When Markov went down - remember!?? - most of us feared the worst and expressed our hope that the team could hang on and stay in playoff contention. Many said that .500 hockey would be acceptable without our best player. This is EXACTLY what the Habs have delivered so far. Doesn't matter, though - all we hear about is how they "can't beat the good teams," barely beat the Isles and Leafs, have too many (!) OT victories, have no defensive system (although there has been obvious overall improvement in that area, yesterday notwithstanding), boo hoo, woe is me, the sky is falling.

We won't know how truly good or bad the team is until Markov returns. It's like judging the Calgary Flames without Iginla or the Canucks without Luongo. In the meantime, we should all keep in mind what our expectations were when Markov went down and measure the team's success accordingly. By that standard, this bunch is doing about as well as we could have hoped.

You and I seem to post this type of thing once every 2 weeks or so.... I think maybe it will never sink in

  2. LA goes 2-1-1 for the sim (beating STL, OTT and losing to Buff :puke: ) and Toronto goes 2-0-1 (3-0 vs CGY, 3-2 vs MIN, 3-3 vs LA)

The best part of this sim aside from a tie (with myself  ) was the brawl with Toronto....

    Holy crap

  3. Don't worry. He will either never come over (Yemelin), come to Hamilton for a week, hate it and leave (Valentenko), make the team and then regress into a sulky, erratic head case (Kostitsyns), or get stuck on the third line as a checker, get bored and leave (Perezhogin).

That was my point.... he doesn't have any of the attitudes of the players you listed.

He can't wait to come over, and he doesn't care how long he has to play in the AHL until he makes the NHL roster.

  4. Thanks Koz!

5-1 loss to Carolina? Damn that's sad. Other games are a-ok though.

Still sucks knowing that I'm in the same division as Montreal and Ottawa though. At best I'm a 5th place team! And in the lesser east no less!

Keep up the good work, Habit!

I thought I had that one.... 80% of my tests were 6-3 wins vs the Canes.

Oh well, it's still a winning sim and the PP went 50% over the 3 games, 6 for 12 !

    Now for the PK ^_^

  5. 2-1 sim for the Panthers!

    W VS LA - HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

    L VS ANA - :(

W VS TB - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! but lost Horton to a 3 game suspension :(

Bad goalie performance.... both of them

But at least my 10 game minimum has been completed :P

  6. Didn't see that this was posted anywhere.

    http://www.cyberpresse.ca/sports/hockey/20...le-canadien.php

To summarize for those who don't read French:

-Avtsin is coming to come over in August to try to make the team.

-Avtsin has a 2 year deal in the KHL.

-He has a good relationship with the Dynamo GM but worse comes to worse if he doesn't want Avtsin to go, Avtsin will use his out-clause in his contract to come to NA.

-His agent said before the draft, Avtsin said he wanted to be drafted by the Habs in Montreal and dreamed about playing for them (this could be just typical agent filler).

-His agent, a former scout for the Sens and Preds, thinks (much like Habitforming :P) that he was a steal in the fourth round and that on talent alone he's a top 10 pick

The rest of the article pretty much talks about how the GM of the Montreal Juniors, who recently acquired his QMJHL rights from Patrick Roy's Remparts, is happy to have him on his team. He talked to the Habs to find out more about him and they told him they expected him to come to North America for next season.

He is a sure fire talent, that's for sure.

The real game breaker and reason he will do well in the NHL is his attitude. He is a non-typical Russian player in that sense, and his attitude is very much like Ovechkin's..... Just don't tell him that. ;)

  7. Are the odds less than or more than 1/30? And how many cup winners are evident after the season's 10th game? Even the team we all consider the most likely to win, is not even close to guaranteed to win. All we need, is to be in the picture. We'll see if this team is good enough to be in the Stanley Cup picture.

Remember when Pittsburgh shit the bed last season and turned it on in Feb?

Were they the 1st seed, did anyone give them a chance at all?

  8. simply proposing it as a solution to this problem. If people see me as the problem, which is how it seemed from some comments made here, then I am willing to remove myself for the sake of the league.

    Boooo !

Not allowed Noah, sorry, but No! ^_^

  9. P.O.W is a good sign. And Anisimov to boot! Can anyone tell me how Toronto did otherwise?

3-2 loss to Buff (2g for Anisimov.....Sorry Triz, they always beat the Kings too)

    5-3 win vs Pitts (2g, 2a for Anisimov... PP 3 for 6)

    5-3 win vs STL (2g, 2a for Anisimov... PP 3 for 7)

  10. Lines in for LA and Toronto.... I outright refuse to cheer for the leafs, even in an online game, but I think the changes I made will work out well for Trizz :D

p.s.- Please trade Skille to LA in this sim.... Colin won't mind, he's too busy screwing with other teams lines :P

  11. GO GO Habit GM skills, then. I'll PM you some info on things to watch out for and preferences of mine. Thanks buddy.

    Sounds good to me

Nice to be able to return some of the help you gave me. ;)

  12. Bob's response to Pierre Mcguire..."What's that Pierre? You're a little muffled, can't hear you with this stanley cup ring in my ear."

As for this thread... genius. Give a place for those habs fans to have a pity party and quarantine them.

    As for my thoughts,

This season is young, this "experiment" is in the lab and needs time to work. The bunsen burner is on, reactions are taking place, things will change. Give our coach and players a chance, everyone.

    Matts.

    Nicely put.

In the summer everyone knew that it would take a month or more to find chemistry and or gel as a team and they seemingly had no issues with that... "It is to be expected" .

Now however not even 10 games into the season and the same people are starting crap threads like this.

    Makes me sick

  13. anyhow, I would be surprised if ANYTHING at all happens before the 20 games mark.

Gainey did his moves during the summer...

The right thing to do right now is to let things Gel and not panick.

If they don't gel after 20 games, we must adapt. Until then, we have to let the elements in place TRY.

    I agree completely.

But, I think Halak has alot of value to a team with Huet as thier number one LOL

  14. I was kinda sleeping, kinda not so sleeping. (fell asleep while negotiating with Chicago in NHL 2010) and got that "trade idea" which is not so bad...

    To Chicago :

    A. Kost

    S. Kost

    To Montreal :

    Cam Barker

    Patrick Sharp

Yes, I know, must be smoking some pretty hot stuff if I really think that the value is "fair"...

However, in the cap era, that's not so far fetched.

    1. Chicago is underusing Barker, because of Keith, Seabrook, Campbell, etc.

    2. Patrick Sharp makes a whole lot of money for his class... they will have to sign Toews, Kane... etc. They alredy have Hossa. Sharp at 4M is a luxury.

    3. There is the S. Kost - Kane connection.

    4. At their respective salary / potential, etc. S. Kost for Sharp could be something interesting for both.

    5. A. Kost for Barker does make a lot of sense for them.

we'd be in cap troubles when Markov would be back... but when's that? at that time, maybe someone overpaid will have just become very expandable... I'm not suggesting they are right now, but maybe by then, Spacek or Hamrlik will prove to not be so useful.. Or Laraque, or whoever.

Not to burst your bubble but half of that was a rumor floating around a few weeks back.

  15. Well.

3-0 beating two of the top teams in the East (NYR and Car) and then Atlanta. Sadly, the Thrashers thrashed my defense. Not as bad as Barker, but I have a guy down for a month too. Boo.

    So.

Apparently I don't need Skille - at least to play in the East. And the Cup finals are against East teams. Offers?

Since I tired out every team you played the day before I should get first crack at Skille. Major and a first still stands :P
