    Help!

Yeah, I saw the stadium when I went on a quick walk through....it's pretty nice. Thanks for the info.
  3. I was thinkin' that, but with a twist....Do it Euro style. Let any city with a 10k plus arena have a team, and have two leagues, with moving up and down. Even have Toronto and Montreal have two teams. Make a comperable league in the US, offer salary restrictions, and you have a winning formula.
  4. New England 41, Phila 14. I hate the Pats, but I don't see Philadelphia winning or even keeping it close.

    Help!

Hey, nice to hear from an alumni. I went to a Q game in Cape Breton a few years ago, and I loved the stuff...I can't wait to be a busride/walk from the Metro Centre for some quality hockey, SMU or the Moose. Also, I LOVE football, so won't be far from that either. What's the residence like? Of course, I'm not expecting the Ritz or anything.
  6. The guy who made Farrenhype was Dick Morris, who was hired on the administration to be a "counterbalence" to opinions and to help deal with the Republican congress. He's a columnist for the NY Post, I think. The movie itself was well done, if a bit exaggerated and hostile in points. I've found the responses to be even more hate filled than the film itself...comparing him to Gobbels and the like. I think it's very indicative of what the American media is now....soundbites and yelling and namecalling. BUT, back to the movies...Eternal Sunshine was VERY good. Unique, well thought out, and made you think about your own life, and what you would do if you had the choice. Probably my biggest disappointment of the year was Secret Window. Depp was very good, but it was just way too predictable. I figured out the ending half way through.

    Help!

Hey, I just got accepted into St. Mary's University in Halifax, and I have no clue what to do! Do you guys have any advice about college/university? [Edited on 2005/1/30 by Habsfan21]
  9. I kinda like commercial breaks too....get some water, a snack....washroom, etc.
  10. Rogers is saying the league may ease up on the cap talk.... http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/article.jsp...126_122859_2272 One can hope, I guess..... PS Report also says there would be a 30 game season, with teams only playing games against each other in-confrence. Sooooo....If the season is started, at least I get to see my team here.
  11. That great hockey newspaper :eyes: the St. Petersburg Times, gave this story: http://www.sptimes.com/2005/01/22/Sports/T...on_almost.shtml In it, Lighting rep Tim Taylor said he believed Linden had offered the 24% rollback, then a cap after 3 years. Any idea if it's true? If it is, I'm pretty pissed at the owners.
  12. The biggest mistake was most definatly the first one: The only way Free Agency can be containted is to contain it when it's immediatly allowed (ie NFL). Otherwise, the cat is out of the bag... I have a good feeling about this new meeting, though...Hotchkiss is reasonable. I don't know about Linden, but his more recent remarks were probably made with Goodenow pulling the strings. That aid thing....I thought Chretien went nuts when he approved that. I liked how response was so negative that they repealed it....showed the system worked. Kind of. Unless they were sponsering something, no?:eyes: hehe, love the av. [Edited on 2005/1/18 by Habsfan21]
  13. I'm a winner, I'm a sinner, do you want my autograph?:/)
  14. The best albums ever: Dire Straits Making Movies and Pink Floyd'sThe Final Cut
  15. I'll give this a try..... -Cut to 24 teams. Eliminate Phoenix, Florida, Anaheim, Nashville, Carolina, Atlanta. Move Pittsburgh to Winnipeg. Wales Confrence Montreal Toronto Ottawa New York Long Island Philadelphia Tampa Bay Atlanta New Jersey Washington Buffalo Boston Campbell Confrence Detroit Chicago Winnipeg Columbus Vancouver Calgary Edmonton San Jose Los Angeles Colorado Minnesota St. Louis The season: -3 preseason best of 3 tournaments, with the Canadian teams & Buffalo, and then the rest of each confrence in a tourney each. This would increase intrest at the begining of the year, and allow new trophies to be awarded, and to increase fan intrest in their local teams/rivalries. This would accompany the removal of the preseason, and a reduction in reg season games.... -That would be 4 games in confrence, and 2 outside, meaning 68 games. -Playoffs would remain the same. Dun Dun Dun Dun, Do Do, Dun Dun, Money.... -55% of income guaranteed to players, salary cap/floor. In exchange, players recive free agency at 28. Rules -OT eliminated in regular season, WLT is it in the regular season. -Limited puckhandling for goalies -Touch up offsides, auto icing
  16. Again, they're using Europe as a stopgap, because they think they would make a lot more money in the future if they succed in the labour battle then they would playing for an owner-pushed CBA.
  17. Because the owners aren't letting them work. That's what a lockout is. But, if you're asking why they won't give in, (I'm guessing that's what you mean, forgive me, these boards are hard to read between lines), it's probably because they don't want to lose bargaining power, and lose further income down the road. Like how coal miners would take odd jobs to keep food on the table. Though, of course, the players have no trouble doing that, but you catch me anyway.:/) [Edited on 2005/1/12 by Habsfan21] [Edited on 2005/1/12 by Habsfan21]
  18. But really, about uniform ads, I don't think that's a route they are willing to go. I mean, there's ads on the boards, ads on the ice, ads everywhere. The NHL still has the thought that it is a "Big 4" sport, and none of the other Big 4 have ads on them. Now, baseball on the other hand....it's gonna happen soon, I think you can count on it.
  19. Fanpuck, go get your chuck bucket..... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v290/habs.../Canadiens3.gif [Edited on 2005/1/10 by Habsfan21]
  20. Smart, smart man.:eyes:
  21. He did take a lot of crap for it, and I didn't agree with all the crap he took....but he got plenty of money for his trouble.
  22. Yeah, but that's the reason it's been overplayed: So what? The US beat the USSR at something. Both sides beat each other at something every Olympics (Barring boycotts). What difference does it make for a "great hockey moment" consideration if some US puppet in Iran was overthrown, or if the USSR invaded Afghanistan? Would a Soviet boxing upset be a big deal if it was when Solidarity came in Poland and Reagan still had guys in Central America? This is what I meant by "regular upset promoted because of nationalism/politics." The USSR/Canada 72 series actually DID SOMETHING for hockey: It brought a new flavour to the game, and new prespectives for both sides. Also, and it must be noted, it introduced the BEST national team uniforms ever(Canada's): Fanpuck, bonus points if you can name both guys in the pic.
