Where are we at right now?
Higgins - Koivu - Ryder
Kostitsyn - Ribiero - Kovalev
Zednik - Plekanec - Perez
Begin - Bonk - Murray
Markov - Komisarek
Souray - Dandenault
Rivet - Bouillon
Streit
Huet
Aebischer
Danis
I'm assuming Kostitsyn takes that second line spot, however...
If a top 6 forward is coming in I gotta assume it will be through a trade involving Aebischer and another roster player, and then Kostitsyn will probably be moved to the 3rd line.
Basically, the only way the current team gets better is if Kostitsyn fully plugs the hole Bulis left behind, and there is much offensive improvement from the players that can potentially improve (Perezhogin, Plekanec, Higgins, Komisarek....*sigh* Ribiero)

You know Nickelback wouldn't be that bad if they played a song that sounds different from every other song they play.

Montreal hasn't really gotten any better, but they haven't gotten worse either.
I to was hoping for the much needed offensive upgrade this season. And hey, who knows, it may still happen with Shanny or trade. But there are other storylines, though much less interesting, to follow...
Who knows how the prospects and rooks of last season will fare this year? Will Perez bust out of his apparent shell like he appeared to be doing in the playoffs? Can Higgins and Plekanec stare off the sophomore jinx like Ryder did? Hey, will Ryder score 35 times this season? Is Huet a one year wonder or will he be the steady presence the Habs missed last year?
Tons of variables on the way....it's just that none are fun to answer while Boston signs a behemoth d man, and Nashville signs our saving grace from Ribs.
*le sigh*

A team of 3rd liners. I hope they don't keep Kostitsyn back just to add scoring in Hamilton.
-
If there was no real change between 1st and 2nd overall, I would have gone with the pick that makes Bosh happy.
But what do I know? I don't even watch basketball.

Are you referring to Jonne Aaron of Negative whose pictures I posted previously? Or to Brian Molko of Placebo?
NOW I'm referring to Brian Molko.
Unless Jonne has changed his hair again. Then I think we could certainly use an update.
Be sure to pm it straight to jetsniper as well.
-
Now, to keep my post on topic, I would like to annouce that Placebo has become one of my new favourite bands!
Does this mean we'll know if the lead singer's hair style changes?
VAST is making a comeback on my playlists, as well as Beck.
Seriously, Beck is the man. I would have his man babies.

I assume black people are better sprinters because of all the running they have to do to get away from the police...
I'm kidding, of course.
It is interesting, though, that there are more black sprinters than there are white, and more white marathon runners than there are black.
-
hmmm...if we had a 2nd line center prospect pushing at the spot for next year, I'd say "Sure! Take the 1 year risk and see what we can get for Ribs."
But we don't have that prospect, Plekanec is close but not quite, so I'm hesitant.
-
I heard he was qualified, but hasn't accepted.
So he isn't signed, but he is still Habs property.
There go the Danis being UFA rumours.
-
With Begin, Downey, and Murray on the Habs, and Lapierre and Ferland on the Bulldogs, Ivanans and Vandermeer were unnecessary depth.
-
Why not hear everyone's guesses on what these Habs will be offered? It's too early for lineup suggestions, but we need something to give our expert amateur analysis on...
RFA contracts it is! (and Bouillon)
I would write down what their qualifying offers are, but I don't know them. If anyone does, let me know.
David Aebischer, 2 mill
Andrew Archer, (II)
Francis Bouillon, (UFA)
Jean-Phillipe Côté, (II)
Yann Danis, (II)
Jonathan Ferland, (II)
Chris Higgins, (II)
Mike Komisarek, (II)
Duncan Milroy, (II)
Alexander Perezhogin, (II)
Mike Ribeiro, (II)
Michael Ryder, (II)
Only Aebischer has accepted his qualifying offer....maybe? (Hearing different reports)
Released:
Pierre Dagenais, (II)
Olivier Michaud, (II)
Raitis Ivanans, (II)
Updated.

I actually wondered why Boston went out and got a goalie prospect. I mean, they're always good to have but they've already got Toivonen to work with (and he looked pretty good, when he wasn't injured). Maybe thats the reason? A back-up plan in case Toivonen has injury problems?
Rask won't be ready for about 2 - 3 years right? Maybe more?
By that time, either Toivonen or Thomas will have given Bruins management contract trouble and will be traded.
Example:
Bruins GM: I think you deserve 2 million for 2 years.
Toivenon: I want 2.5
Bruins GM: GET OUT YOU UNGRATEFUL HACK!! YOU'LL NEVER WORK IN THE TOWN AGAIN!!!! OMG!!!!!

I wouldn't say it's all good though. I could do without post #301.

ah
well now I'm curious...I wonder what "his" hairstyle is like now

An excellent bump! 17 pages of gold!

psst, your cheque is in the mail.

Assuming the Habs can land an upgrade (Kubina) then Cube can go.
I'd hate to lose his heart and skill, but I'm all for a better player coming in.
-
So thats brings you to around $39 Millon, and Montreal will not spend more than $41 Million. So really they only have about $2 Million to spend unless the move some people. Doesn't look good for free agents right about now
That's the key point. If Gainey signs a centerman then Ribs is gone, so take his salary off the books. Kostitsyn pretty much already has one of the 2 spots vacated by Bulis and Sunny, who knows who gets the other spot and at what price.
-
Guys! It's an E-FREAKING-3 RATING!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is incredible!
I'm gonna go out and buy my St Louis Habs jersey now! This deal is as good as done!
-
Why? It's a stupid rule not giving the players the choice. The shield didn't help Saku out too much. Since more and more players now wear shields incidents of hi-sticking has also went up.
If you want to decrease hi sticking get rid of the instigator rule, let the players police themselves.
Don Cherry? Is that you?
-
Don't sign Dags. Just dump him already.
If the Habs are to keep the Bulldogs to themselves, more players would need to be signed. There isn't enough scoring on the Bulldogs, especially with Kostitsyn nearly gauranteed a spot on the Habs...
why not Dags?

Ah, well, thank you. Every Saturday, I like to work with my bullets, talk with pilots and get in tune with my gun. Something Theo should be doing.
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Theo is too busy getting venereal diseases with the walking STD, Paris Hilton.
No word yet whether this will make him a better hockey player, but it is a general consensus that this does not make him a better person.
