  1. Honestly, I can't think of a single good reason not to dress Subban over Bergeron. Granted, it's not all Bergeron's fault - Martin is insane for giving him so many minutes.

The problem with MAB is that everybody else -- except Markov -- are horrible at moving the puck and jumpstarting the offense. And I'm not even mentionning the PP. That's the only reason MAB gets so much minute. He's Mark Streit circa 2008.

Down 2-1, I didnt want Subban because it's throwing the towel on the current players too soon. Facing elimination at 3-1, now the coach is justified to try anything he wants.

And the game is not in Montreal, so less pressure on Subban.

  2. Wait. WAIDAMINIT! *laughs*

You can't have it both ways! You can't say Price shooting a puck at someone's head is not good and childish and not playing with an edge and then say that headbutting someone's progeny is playing with an edge!

    I call foul!

Hey, at least I hurt the guy! Price just got laughed at.

If you're going to blow a fuse, at least hurt someone doing so. If he had slapshot that puck ssquare in Backstrom's face and broke his nose and a couple of teeth, I'd have been on his side. Know what I mean? Throwing a puck falls into the same category as spitting.

  3. the slash and headbutt thing is something I actually have done to a familly member of the place iwas babysit back when iwas 9 or so. The guy was an army man and something like 6-4 and 250 lbs. We were playing floor hockey and he laugh at me or something so I just saw red. Next thing I knew after hitting him I was hanging upside down by my ankle from the basement ceiling. Still, that's what imean when I talk about playing with an edge!

  4. I don't get it. We want players with fire in their belly, guys who hate losing, who are uber-competitive, then when we get one, under the bus he goes. There's talk about what he's won and how he can justify his ego - well, he's still a KID. Anyone remember when he was having that super hot streak early in the season and during a penalty shootout he was taunting the opposition? How come no one was bitching then? I'm GLAD he got pissed. Glad he did something about it. I'm glad Gomez has taken exception and has done something about it. Bitch bitch bitch about how soft and uncompetitive the team is, then when they get competitive and display emotion, it's not good enough.

    Worst fan-base ever.

You, sir, can't tell the difference between a player that's über-competitive and a player that's just acting out of frustration. If, say, Knuble goes into Price's crease and Price breaks his stick on Knuble's leg: that's übercompetitive. Nobody will want to go anywhere near the net later. Throwing a puck at the guys after a goal that was fair and square? What does it achieves? Players will stop celebrating?! Then trip another guy later again after a goal? That's not being competitive.

This is the annoying thing with Price. To some, he can do no wrong. To others, he can do no right. Anyone in the middle is caught having to argue endlessly and make nuances lost on some and the others.

  5. Funny, I'm listening to the radio here in Quebec City and they're talking about just that.

Ovie has just been raised poorly, that's what it comes down to.

What pisses me off is that nobody defended the kid. Had I been that kid Ovie would have got a two-handed slash across the knee and a headbutt to the nuts.

  6. Roy did have (still does) a monster ego; he did have some inexcusable reactions (like going to the coach`s office and throwing everything in sight)

But that ego got him 1, 2, 3 Conn-Smythe Trophies. Winning excuses many behaviors.

Reminds of when I was in High School. I gave all my teachers headaches and got thrown out of so many classes. But I was getting straight A's (or an average grade of 90+%, we didnt have letter grades) so I was somewhat justified for being a disturbance. If you're successful, your bad attitude is seen as a symptom. If you're not successful, your bad attitude is seen as a cause.

  7. It's always about context. Price has a chip on his shoulder since last season. His sympathy capital is near 0. It doesnt help him that Halak is the kind of lovable shy underdog with a rag-to-riches story. Price is in a situation where he has to prove he's not an immature spoiled kid. Playing with an edge is fine, but it has to be done in a way to will rally the team or intimidate the opponent. I doubt throwing the puck at the guys celebrating a goal or tripping them achieves one or the other.

Yeah, I do believe Price has become a whipping boy of sort. A lot has to do with him being placed in a bad situation by a GM who overestimated the kid's mental focus and the team's ability to win games without stellar goaltending. But Price is not helping himself either.

  8. I'm not saying they should trade any specific player. What I'm saying is they (obviously) need to get bigger in the top-6 (or at least the top-12) and meaningfully better on the blueline. And I'm saying that anything short of serious moves to address these problems will be flat-out unacceptable to me as a fan. I really don't care which players they move in order to accomplish this. None of these guys are untouchable.

The cap is a problem, but - again - it's going to take bold, ballsy management to work within it. Again, I don't give a rat's ass how Gauthier does it. But this team had better be improved on D and bigger up front, period.

And I suggest we stay away from the 'oh dear the rest of the Conference will be better' game. Every season, some teams take a step up and others take a step back. We have good players; but we need to address the glaring weaknesses. Let the other teams take care of themselves.

It's the same old story. We need size. Gomez disappointed me a great deal down the stretch and now in the playoffs. Gionta is a nice little trash-goal scorer, but he can't pass worth a damn. Together those two are nothing more than secondary offense. Very expensive secondary offense.

Having to work with what we've got now, what we could be hoping for is to trade for a big young RW stud to play with Cammy and Plex. Upgrade AK46 for a big guy, a force. A Nathan Horton/Chris Stewart kinda guy.

As for the D... we're paying for the lack of foresight by the organization in the early 2000's. They try to play catch-up and draft D's in recent years but Fisher isnt developing and McDonagh's already gone. We also missed the boat on Emelin who might have grown into a fixture right now.

  9. What they need to do is forge and identity and acquire players that fit that mold.

I don't care what their names are as long as they make us better.

I was thinking just the same.

It's tough to like this current Habs edition because it's not the type of team, the type of hockey most fans seems to want. Of course winning makes every team looks better, but even when we won there was always some bitter after taste.

We definitely need to get bigger and more aggressive. It's been a problem for so long, I can't believe it's still is a problem.

  10. Start Halak game 5.

Price's two unsportsmanlike penalties ought to be reason enough not to play him.

Yeah. Halak in Game 5. Price was ok, but nothing exceptional. Then you pile up the two misconducts and you just see a kid acting like a kid. Ovie has his number anyway. I'd like to get some stats about the number of goals Ovie has against Price. It's 3 in 4 periods so far.

next year addition by subtraction... Hamrlik out, Subban in.

I wish we could get rid of Gomez as well. Not bringing it this series.

  11. I also think I would start Price next game...hopefully he gets hot like Theo did when we came back from 3-1 against Boston when Mclaren cheap shotted Zednik.

You're mixing series. Theo got hot in 2002 (Year of the Hart)... we came back from the 3-1 deficit in 2006 (the year Kovy got slashed and just forgot the puck at the Habs blueline)

  12. To me this is on Martin not Hamrlik. He is being put in a situation he is no longer capable for. but Martin, what a fxcking idiot

Of course it is. Hammer does what he can, but he doesnt have the wheels to recover anymore. Just the same as back when we had Souray, but at least Souray would make up for it with rockets and goals.

Hammer needs to play a stay-at-home style and Martin needs to finds someone else to send on that PP. I keep saying to send Sergei K. The kid has hockey smarts, vision and passing skills. Why he doesnt get any PP time is mind-boggling, especially since our PP is having regular problems controlling the puck.

Anyway, good period ruined by a bonehead coaching decision.

  13. That's the crap that makes me hate Martin. Hamrlik got burned A THOUSAND TIMES when he was out on the PP. Martin just keeps sending him out there and we keep getting burned.

WAKE THE F*CK UP FOR CRISSAKE!!!!!!

I swear. Jacques Martin is the slowest coach out there.
