  1. That is a million more than I thought he would get...but we can't say Bob isn't doing his best to keep the good players on the team. We will see what Meehan does now.

I expected him to get less, but he deserves this. Awesome news to have a superstar signed here for 4 more seasons.

He hasn't accepted it yet...just the offer has been made.

  2. Pronger is becoming one of the leagues jokes. He should keep his mouth shut and play hockey. How can he complain when Holmstrom gets his head split open for 12 stitches. Pronger is a whiny punk...IMO He can stay home come Olympic time cause all he does is complain about canadian media, canadian fans...etc.

  3. As if they would do anything differently than any other government did before them. Same shit, different day. Liberals, Conservatives.

Funny one would say that. The whole sponsorship scandal was exactly the same idea...every government did the same thing year after year...yet the Liberals get booted out for it. Maybe the conservatives should be investigated to the same extreme.

  4. notice most of the top 10 are government towns? I guess it is easy to get a good rating when the majority of your town has a cushy, tenured overpaid civil service job and no worries.

If you are someone living in reality who is stuck with a real job, or has ambition to become something greater than a tenured rating C-5 pencil pusher you're going to want to live in actual city like Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary or Toronto.

    Gander, NL

    LOL!

    Wow...somebody sounds a bit bitter.

For the record, Gander NFLD...is home to one of North America's busiest airports. Employs much of the city. Obviously you can't see past the end of your big city nose. I have lived in Montreal and Toronto and that type of attitude is rampant. I finally chose right when i moved to the Maritimes.

  5. ummm... i gotta say that radio-canada first came out with that *scoop* saying Perezhogin signed a contract in Russia... then RDS investigate about it and they came out saying this is not true.

so if we have to blame, blame radio-canada coz they didnt verify their infos and make sure that it's TRUE... if they were not sure about it, then they just had to mention that's a rumor... not a fact...

My point remains exactly the same....where is radio-canada? Was this posted on english CBC....

Also, RDS did report it as true and then a day later did their research to prove it false.

It is the Montreal media only.

  6. Why would I want to spend $50,000 on solar panels, I can think of better things for my money.

This guy http://256.com/solar/ is the first google hit when I searched for some info. It's cost him 19000$ (AFTER $22,000 of grants from the state of Masachusitts) to install the panels, and he saves $1100 a year which isn't terrible since you could call that a 5.5% rate of return, but I still make A LOT more on the stock market. The 5.5% return though is only possible with the MASSIVE subsidy that basically matched his own investment, if he paid the full 40,000$ then his return would be pathetic, especially when the panels start to breakdown after 20 years.

So it works out ok for him, but only because his fellow taxpayers are paying for most of his vanity project. In ontario the taxpayers are paying for all of this government vanity project, and the losses are astronomically higher than 20,000 dollars.

Dude...A panel for you hot water will cost you roughly 3k. 50k worth would be a hell of a lot of energy.

Perhaps he should conider turning off the lights, upgrading his fridge etc.

  7. If you guys want to cut your electric costs you should consider producing your own energy. Ontario is one of the few provinces that will actually pay you if you generate more energy on your own than you use. It only makes sense. I plan on using solar to help heat my hot water. It will pay for itself in 10 years and then it is all gravy.

If you were responsible for your energy...you may actually take an initiative and reduce the amount of unecessary energy you consume.

  8. HEY GUYS! RDS.ca just reported that Perezhogin DIDNT sign with a Russian team!!!

RDS talked to Don Meehan (which is Perezhogin's agent) and he said that Perezhogin RECEIVED an offer but he DECLINED...

    http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/228149.html

I am sick of the Montreal media reporting rumours as facts without getting the story staright the first time. Only the Quebec media reported this crap...the rest knew enough to look into the facts before they start a controversy.

  9. Unfortunately this is the best we can get. At this point, all National rights for Canadian teams are to CBC on Saturdays, and TSN everywhere else. So regional deals are all that available for the foreseeable future.

Not exactly, out East Sportsnet has the rights for all the Ottawa games and they show 20 or so games a year in the Maritimes. It is possible for the Score to get a larger viewing audience if they want to pay more and go through the NHL. We have to watch the agmes in French or wait for the odd game in English on CBC, TSN or Sportsnet. I watch regardless.
