  1. Go Ottawa! (all the way to the big silver champaigne mug)

Go Nashville! (take out San Jose & improve our second 1st round pick positi0n

Go Detroit (till the western conference finals and NO further - for my pool)

Go Anaheim! (all the way to the grand finals - but don't win...)

Go Buffalo (till the eastern conference finals and NO further - for my pool)!

Go anybody who plays against the Devils! (the ONLY team that comes close to being despised by me...)

    GO :hlogo: GO!

  2. yowch.... an awful lot to work with... and so many different contingencies to consider... i think i'll leave this kind of stuff and the associated developments to you...

thanks for the grunt work and number crunching...

    GO :hlogo: GO!

  3. Okay, Carbo was elite when it came to shot blocking. Why the crap aren't we number 1 as a team for blocked shots? With the passive D that we play, there are tonnes of shots from the outside, because nobody can get inside, but these guys have to learn to block shots. I know it's suicide, but if it's done correctly, it's safer than it looks.

I better see a lot more blocked friggen shots next year.

    hmmm.... mixed up scenarios here...

on the one hand "I know it's it's suicide" and "it's safer than it looks"...

i know that this sounds like nitpicking but what the heck...

also, why do we have to be 1st in shots blocked? i wonder, are the coaches satisfied with the shot blocking rate of the team? if they are (and it's that "elite" Carbo that we're talking about), then we have nothing to complain about except for the enjoyment of complaining. ^_^

  4. From her Rep:

"Paris says if she goes to jail, even for just a day, her life will be over. She knows she'll lose a lot of work if she gets a reputation as someone who has done time. Her whole career is based on her image and maintaining a fan base - she has nothing else to rely on. She's petrified. She's the butt of quite a few jokes in Los Angeles these days and she hates it. She's been crying a lot, especially when she's been drinking, and is scared that her life is falling apart. She's missed two club appearances in the past couple of weeks. People in the industry are taking her less seriously and she doesn't feel like she's Hollywood's Golden Girl any more. She's more alone than ever before right now and this could be one situation she can't charm her way out of."

    LOL!!!!!!!

    http://www.idontlikeyouinthatway.com/2007/...ed-of-jail.html

Well, it's not so much that her life will be over though her life, as it was, will be over. As to going to jail, it sure does dump on a person's reputation - usually anyway... it'd poop on mine big time, being a teacher and all...

So, foolish as she is, I can still sympathize with her inasmuch as the potential consequences of such a development but, on the other hand, if you make your bed...

    GO :hlogo: GO!

  5. There are about 3 draft pick threads on the go already, do we need another?

    Granted...

but then this one is based on the idea that we KNOW that Montreal has the 12th pick overall... not anywhere from 12th to 24th.

This gives a whole new and more to-the-point perspective as we try to assess exactly who could be picked at that spot or what kind of deal could be made to move up.

If we were picking 20th & 24th there wouldn't be much to work with in the hopes of moving up to get Alzner or Gagné or whoever else would be of more value (Kane or Voracek?)

    There you go...

By the way, H29R, Akim Aliu isn't an Aaron Downey type. He's got tons more talent along with the grit. The only problem I may have with him is that we already have a bunch of wingers. This would be one more who'd end up bottle-necking. But then again, with his package he's still a well worthy shot.

    GO :hlogo: GO!

  6. Now that we know that Montreal will pick 12th, who would you like them to pick at those positions? Or, do you have any suggestions as to how to improve the situation and, in such a scenario, who would you like to see pick ed then?

If we stay 12th, I hope we still get to pick ANGELO ESPOSITO :D:D:D:D but, if not, I'm not sure yet... I'll have to think about it since I'm pretty focused on Esposito.

As to some possible pick trades, here's what I would like to see:

I hope that Montreal switches 1st picks w/ St. Louis and, as above, takes ANGELO ESPOSITO with the pick. I know that he's pegged as being inconsistent & lazy but he's got talent oozing out the pores. With the proper guidance, he could be a major boom or, agt worst, a minor bust (therefore average 2nd line) player. He's well worth the risk. The other part of that deal would be that Montreal would give St. Louis a second round pick (and/or a third rounder) as compensation.

Now, with the San Jose pick (after they get bumped out in the 1st round  ), I hope that Montreal picks AKIM ALIU :D:D . I know he's got some character issues but he'll grow up and he's a bigger tougher version of Steve Downie... Would be a great compliment to Latendresse.

    GO :hlogo: GO!

  7. the 'some bum...' vote is just sour grapes...

the players I'd like to see are tom preissing, chris phillips and eric brewer (though i think he's been signed) for defense

as to the forwards, the only one that tweaks my fancy is paul kariya... but he doesn't answer our 'center' need... brière will cost too much for a fragile player... my take on the forward situation is to continue to grow our own talent... there's lots there to work with...

    GO :hlogo: GO!

  8. I would also assume that Halak will return to Hamilton now that Montreal's season is finished. Danis, Halak, and Price........this is going to be very interesting.

i would 'vote' to have halak in nets for the bulldogs during the playoffs... if price doesn't play, that's ok... maybe he can be inserted during a couple of the final games of the regular season... just for a taste and an incentive...

    GO :hlogo: GO!

  9. Nobody in the NHL cares. The thing that is most concerning our dear leader Bettman is that all three NY teams make the playoffs. Islanders, Rangers and Devils are what matter.....US TV numbers. The sheep (and I mean this disprespectfully) will always flock to the Bell Centre to watch this gutless team

a better word would be the faithfull and i mean this fully respectfully...

go senators! (get that cup that has so much eluded you - most importantly, knock off the devils!!!)

and, go nashville... knock off the sharks for a better draft position for us

    GO :hlogo: GO!

  10. Hey I will be the first to admit that I was happy with Carbo coming on board as coach.

was I expecting rookie mistakes yes, was I expecting growing pains yes.

but did I expect total failure, and out right missed events with players like sammy? NO and nobody can!

the fact is that if we had won that game last night. 90% of everyone who has come out of the wood work to give there version of the truth would have been praising carbo, the sun the moon and yes RYDER!

so give it sometime before jumping to thoughts out of frustration.

some say its a game yes, but this is a professional team that needs to learn and make adjustments, they will and we should too.

we can start by accepting Carbo as a rookie coach and therefore we have no one to blame but ourselves for having shouldered him and praising him as our coach. we need to take the good and the bad, the wins and the losses.

and the habs have the off season to rethink, rebuild and re-start! we should do a little bit of that too.

    GO HABS GO!

i agree with you, chips... this isn't the time for knee-jerk decisions...

carbonneau will have made errors, he will have been outcoached but the team could have done worse with someone else...

the 'core' will be changed somewhat, i'm certain... (i hope koivu isn't shipped out... for his penalty errors, he is a heart guy who gives it for the team...) 'core' players that might be moved on, if possible - kovalev (the most...), samsonov (the 'experiment' is over), maybe dandenault too...

markov must be resigned, bonk should be resigned and, if possible, souray too...

    but, bottom line, no firesales!!!

    GO :hlogo: GO!

  11. i don't know where we're supposed to vote now but i'd say, as most would, we have to sign markov. it would be good to sign souray too but the price may be too high... bonk would be a good signing too but at a more manageable salary...

as to any other free agents, tom preissing & chris phillips would be fine for me on defense... as to forwards, bondra would be interesting... at a low enough price,

    ryan smyth is a definite...

paul kariya (again, the price...), jason blake & shanahan, shoane doan, eric brewer, etc...

    those would be my choices...

    GO :hlogo: GO!

  12. HW Game Recap: http://www.habsworld.net/article.php?id=1407

Well, at least we're not out. Montreal needs a single point Saturday to clinch a playoff spot. However, a clear-cut win would be much sweeter.

that seems to be greatly debated by some of us... see some of the previous posts on this issue (above this one)...

me, i'm confused but confident that it won't be an issue with the canadiens win on saturday...

    GO :hlogo: GO!

  13. it is funny but, i got to tell you, i wouldn't mind having tucker on my team... whatever one may say about him, he's all heart for his team... he gives it all for his team... that's valuable in itself...

he seems to be a bégin-type of player with more offence and a better health...

    GO :hlogo: GO!

  14. Huet

Not that Halak has been bad

But Huet was good in the 3rd and he has experience ; he has been involved in playoffs battles

that's a big factor, if not THE big factor

i just hope that halak's head will be called for on a platter for tonight's game though i expect that that kind of person is out there... check rds.ca's talkback... it's all full of 'interesting' people.

    GO :hlogo: GO!

  15. I'd actually like the Isles to win on Saturday afternoon cause:

    (1) the Habs play better when their neck is on the line; they won't just be playing for a tie (only to see the Leafs score a fluke goal just before game's end)

    (2) the Leafs don't just make the playoffs by beating us.....they'd need help from NJ......which might deflate them even before the game starts (a win in regular time would still not be enough)

    .....jmo

hmmm........... both of us outside looking in??? wow...

    GO :hlogo: GO!

  16. I don't know french... so CBC is definitly my hcoice... even thoi suscribe to RDS.

And i hope those leafs getsmoked and their homecrowd fans boo em!!!!!!!!!!

don't know french then it's easily settled for you...

though i see the subscription to rds as being neat to have so as to watch and still get to see the game and get some of the mood of the game too...

    GO :hlogo: GO!

  17. when carbnneau was asked why he pulled halak, on eof the reasons he said is that if he wanted huet to play on saturday, he had to play at least a period.

I think we can read between the lines, here.

likely the 'between the lines' is correct but it's still not settled... huet may not be ready to play whereas halak is in the groove...

    we'll see...

    GO :hlogo: GO!
