  1. I remember Robinson's coming of age - it was a devastating hit he laid on Gary Doernhoefer of the Flyers, in Philly if I remember right? Hit him so hard it broke the boards - they had to hold the game up while rink staff fixed the supports behind the spot he nailed him.....

That hit did a lot to take the steam out of Philadelphia's reputation as the Broad Street Bullies?

However I don't think it was his toughness that settled Tiger down - he was just able to control him and calm him down with help from a couple of veteran Leafs. Pure sportsmanship & class!

i forget that specific incident but i certainly do remember when the canadiens outmuscled (outbullied) the flyers... it was so nice...

  2. Here is the question. If the comeback falls short. Who starts in goal on Saturday?

i'm not carbonneau but likely huet will start...

personally, i don't blame halak for the result so far... he may have let in one weak goal but the jagr goal was certainly not his fault and the first and/or last ones may likely simply have been really well place slap shots (the 1st à la guy lafleur from the 70's)...

i don't know if huet would really be up to a one-shot game (not talent but readiness)...

    personally, i'd start halak again...

he's a better goalie than what's-his-name, the leafs goalie and he would likely outduel him

the only potential downside is that this benching might put some doubt/second guessing in his mind...

  3. They have won their last 2 OT games ; in those 2 OT wins (vs Pens and Flyers) they had the lead in regulation, but Pens tied it in the closing seconfs, and Philly tied the game with 3 minutes to go (or so) ; still, they remained motivated and won in OT.

Im afraid they have developed some confidence regarding OT , similar to 1993 Canadiens looking forward to play OT.

That can be scary if Habs and Leafs both have the same points toal before saturday's battle

    What do u think?

all i can say that the only thing that the leafs have over us is potentially more hustle...

we have better goaltenders... our offence is just as good if not better than theirs just as is our defence...

potentially the other leafs advantage is that paul maurice has more 'experience tools' in his tool box than carbonneau but that's pretty well it...

on balance, i'd give our team the advantage even on leafs ice...

their crowd can be silenced and brought to booing which will take them out of the total factor

  4. wow somebody is getting testy.

Timberlake's last album is all Timbaland.

    His first was all Neptunes

He can't become legit until he becomes the sole writer of his music and the main producer. Then he becomes legit.

He's trying to hard to be real when everyone knows he's just a boy band singer.

    that's a foolish comment...

i take it that early elton john was a lesser artist in his music than when he and bernie taupin broke up and he started to do some of his own stuff?

    hardly...

  5. Not to be rude, but this post just misses the point completely. Say for example, I'm p****d off because my boss is a jerk. If I then take out a full page add in the local paper saying so and detailing what a mistake I made joining the company etcetera how long do you think I would remain employed? I somehow do not think I would be sent home with full pay. If Samsonov was unhappy he should have kept his mouth shut and done his job better. The proof is in the pudding... NOT one team was willing to take a chance on him when he was put on waivers... the team is winnining without him.

Bottom line: this is ALL on Samsonov because he kept whinning in the press. He blew his chance for redemption in MTL. The coach's job is to win--not make the individual player's happy. Koivu understands that; Rivet understood that; Nininema understands that....

as a teacher, if i was to do that, i'd not only have my hand slapped but i'd likely get severely reprimanded both by my own federation and my professional association... (maybe even suspended)...

whether one disagrees with one's boss or not, to make it a public issue... :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

  6. yeah it is more bark then bite. But the more these loons speak the more idiotic they sound.

Its just a matter of time though before one of them goes Dog the Bounty Hunter on somebody and causes an international crisis.

i think it's more likely simply another media looking for a crisis/scandal/created-issue so as to boost sales and maintain a 'boy, we had to keep a watch on all of this shocking stuff' attitude by the public...

there's bigger fish to fry in our world than this little local mainly inconsequential issue...
