  1. Actually, this is something I meant to point out in my previous post but forgot to. I think this more "secret" way of finalizing deals would be great if we wanted to keep things more realistic (NHL-like).

The only problem I could see against it would be the idea that with the current system there would be 5 TC members looking at each "secret" deal. Suddenly the deal isn't so secret because there's at least 7 people who know about it, 1/4 of the league.

Yep, exactly why we choose to let me (the commish) do the eveluation alone ...

Of course I konw about it, but it's only 3 persons knowing about, and I don't try to steal a deal when I see one.

  2. Not always true actually.

After my Khabs deal was rejected, I started getting better offers then I was before. Whether they actually wanted to up their offer or it was just out of pity, I'm not sure. :P

Well yeah it was good for you ... but think about the other GM.

In real life there isn't a comittee and when you agree to trade a guy you do it ... but when everyone see the rejected trade, more often than not, the trade ends up being done with a different team.

  3. Well, interesting read indeed ... all good points IMO.

Let me put my Commish experience to use for you guys.

The trade committee is something that indeed needs to exist in a successfull league. But I think what can be frustrating by getting his trade refused by the TC is that now everyone in the league knows that the players involved are available and you get all sorts of scavengers working against you.

Sometimes the best deals you can make are the one you do alone with the other GM, but once it's been refused you're not alone anymore and have a couple of scavengers rising the price.

What we did in my league, is to make the trade submission secret to all GMs (I'm the only one seeing them before they are accepted / refused). Once they are accepted they are posted, if they are refused only the 2 GMs involved know about it and they can work at it again in peace.

Of course to be sure I don't accept crappy trades, we have a complaints system, if I get too many complaints for a trade accepted by the commish the trade is voted by all 30 gms ... the result then stands.

We had all sort of problems before I choose this method and since then we had only a couple problems (small ones).

I'm not saying my method is perfect for the HWL, but I think a secret submission of the trades is a good way to go ...

That's all I had to say.

  4. Well well well ... 3-1 sim for the lowly Canucks ...

Dominated my first game of the week for a 4-2 win in Minnesota. Despite an awfull rating (5) from Leclaire still had a great game as a team.

Player of the game : Aki Berg believe it or not : 2 assists, 5 hits and 4 take away

Solid win for my back up goalie against the Red Wings 3-2. Niko Kapanen with the winner !

Player of the game : Andrei Kostitsyn : 1 goal and 6 shots !

Lost with my head up in the swamp 4-3. New Jersey needed 2 goals in the last 6 minutes to defeat me.

Player of the game : Nobody had a really good game.

Finally, I've totally humiliated the Islanders on the road, shots were 35-21 for me (17 shots on 7 PP). Another solid win from my backup, Mason has been a solid pick up for me !

Player of the game : Tomas Surovy : 2 goals, 1 assist, 7 shots and finished the game +2.

I don't think the first overall pick is coming to Vancouver after all !

  5. Well, well ... look at that, I'm not last anymore !?

Pretty good sim, after getting crushed by LA in VAN, I tied DAL on the road and beat COL in Denver ...

Overall a nice sim for my crappy Canucks.
