The Arizona Republic reports that Wayne Gretzky has decided to coach the Phoenix Coyotes. Gretzky, the team's managing partner, is expected to be announced as coach Monday, NHL sources told the paper. The NHL's all-time leading scorer had tentatively agreed to the post, but opted to wait until a new collective bargaining agreement was in place before officially deciding whether to take on the coaching job. Zigmund Palffy is the latest free agent forward to land with a new NHL team, signing on with the Pittsburgh Penguins. It is a three-year contract worth $13.5 million US. Unrestricted free agent forward Paul Kariya has signed on with the Nashville Predators, TSN has learned. The deal is worth $4.5 million US over two years. Kariya played nine seasons with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and last season with Colorado. He was taken by Anaheim with the fourth pick of the NHL entry draft in 1993 - the year the expansion Ducks came into the league.

theres no way gainey will make that deal first of all if we trade theo who will start in net for us danis, price ,huet danis and price are not ready to take the starter roll and huet is injured and i dont think hes a number 1 goalie ,sure we would have a good offensive team and a good denfensive team but goaltending wins you cups ,just ask tampa last year

gainey is the best thing that happened to the habs im sure he would come through but it would like see kovy come back with satan or selanne for a year and a couple other players and make a run at lacavalier next season
